I think one of the most overlooked and compelling aspects of Civilization IV is the role-play that is can be achieved in six-thousand years of human history. I often enjoy playing the Native Americans, staying as close to their culture as I possibly can. I play the game, embedded into their pagan roots and never chop down one tree, regardless of what resource may lay beneath. Many times, I don't let any other civilization into my territory for the entire game.

While other cultures advance scientifically, culturally, economically and spiritually, I remain a tribal culture. While I'll get wiped off the map in the later part of the game, there are many games in which I have advanced in other aspects--whether diplomatically, or culturally. Do any of you play this way for any of your CIVS? If so, what are your strategies?

Thanks--
