How to install patches for Beyond the Sword

How do I manually install patches for Civ 4? I know where to find the patches, I just don't know how to manually install them. The game's updater doesn't work, because it says that there are no updates.

The in-game updater does not work because it links to a website at Firaxis that no longer exists. Download the patches from the CFC download page. To install just unzip the download and then run the exe file that is in the package. If you are on a Mac, unzip and run the dmg.
