After a period of stagnation the Great Empire of Anglian had begun to show signs of stress as other powers began to edge in on their global dominance. Its motherland had long ago reached its economic peak, and many of its foreign territories had surpassed it in almost every aspect. Then a small group of wealthy gentlemen pushed for one thing, independence. As the wealthy leaders of the (later know as the Founders) five regions of Unitaria worked together to gain their freedom from their Imperial Master, they used grandiose language and big checks (backed by what, no one was sure) to woo the populace into action. They finally were victorious, and although some wanted to forge five great powers in Unitaria, a consensus formed that one Superpower could be forged from this fledging region, they eventually choose the latter option. Finally they had to select a form of government to rule this new Union, some wanted an limited executive council, monarchy, a theocracy and others wanted to experiment with socialism. Finally the founders decided to form a capitalistic democratic republic. This is where you come in; you shall play as an up and coming politician vying for glory on the national stage. Will you stick to your values, play for the on money, or both as you cave to political necessities?

You may ask me for cost estimates for events, and then in your final orders you submit to me what you want to do in your election campaign.


Phase 2- Governing

Once you hold an office, you have several options,
As a legislator you can push for new programs, or fight against them,
As a Governor, you can lead your state to prosperity and earn respect in the national stage, or become a hero of Provincial rights!
As an Official, you carry out the President orders, if (s)he likes you enough you may gain independence, but remember you may not last till the end of his term,
As President, you set government policy and have the ear of the people; the nation and the world, use you time wisely or you will lose Congressional support, or even your job.


Funds and Finance

You will have two ways to finance your life in politics, campaign funds and personal wealth. Campaign funds are contributions by corporations, political lobbies and the little old lady down the street, then should only be used for campaigns items such as transportation, events and commercials, if you get caught using them for other purposes you will lose any future contributors and could possibly end up in a federal prison. Personal Wealth on the other hand can use for any of your devious purposes. You can gain wealth via fundraisers (note: you may lose money on occasion), gifts from lobbyists and popular contributions.

Since the players mostly are picking wackos to play, I'd imagine we would want a dominant center-left and center-right party that is mostly NPC'ed. Especially considering this is a Presidential system with first past the post voting.
 
Since this is an election year, this year will be a two turn year! I want orders in by Saturday, so that means estimates on campaign activities by Friday, thanks.

By high school Conrad's father suddenly died in a farming accident leaving Conrad and his family without means to manage the farm, but Conrad quickly dropped out of school and began tending to the farm ensuring that his family had food on the table and his siblings stayed in school. Conrad then left the farm to his brothers and joined the military, after a distinguished career, in which he was proclaimed a War Hero for leading a courageous assault to free a besieged allied army and considered by his troops as the true leader of the United Republic. Thats all good but you'll want to move some trust and chrisma to experierce or you will never win.
(Generalship is a source of experience as the Presidency is still rather limited).
