Noble/epic/shuffle/random civ, no random events. bts3.13

After some exploring I find myself, Pacal II, isolated on my own continent. Grabbed a few wonders. Ocean for defense + great wall let me concentrate on teching for some time. (side note: i love the early ep's and soon great spys from great wall)

Pre-rifling: Saladin is on a continent close by to the south. I could see his costal city from my borders. Charlemagne is there somewhere too. Only civs I've encountered so far. I found Taoism on the way to Liberalism.. I didnt adopt as I earlier founded buddhism.

They both adopt Taoism and asked me to switch! Now having the aggressive civs on my side I tech even harder without a care for military, especially when they both offer me defensive pacts as well! I did get some naval techs before scientific method, which let me expanded west to 2 more small continents and half of a small island shared with Asoka (which eventually join me via culture), who's closest to me in terms of tech.

Washington, weakest civ, decides to assault one of my continents! Initial attack is luckily repelled by sleeping macemen, who were quickly reinforced with infantry. They just woke my war machine! He gives up not being able to land any further galleons.

Composities finish during the short peace period and soon modern armor + infantry head down in transports to south pole to eliminate Washington's riflemen. Culture slider came into play here (20-30%) to combat war wariness and I guess to grow my newly acquired cities borders. I take America 1983.

I got the Sushi corp. I lose mining inc to asoka (forget what I was chasing) but I picked up Creative Con, both mid 1800's. Both were spread locally. I pick up jewelery too after america falls but didnt use it as much.

My capital hits legendary. WTF? Guess it was the extra culture from the early wonders (buddhism shrine, oracle, sankore, great wall, zeus, no cathedral).

I now decide to try for a domination victory as I dont have one yet on BTS, though I had enough lead for other options too. Made a mental note to not use the culture slider next wars... other 2 cities were about 30k away from legendary. I didnt need it by this point I dont think as I had all the 'hit' entertainment resources.

It was between Asoka (his own continent, closest contender, fairly pushy) or Darius (weak, north pole) next. Wang Kon I'll leave alone for now. Saladin and Charlemagne were friends and would probably put up the most resistance.

Turn out it didnt matter as Asoka and Darius were friends. This was probably the tougest part of the game as Darius assaulted all my coasts as I took over Asoka's mech infantry. I easily had the population and needed maybe about 8% more land even after conquering Asoka & Darius. I think I had the population too to vote myself winner with the UN.

By 2009 forces were regrouped outside of Korean continent. He has a little more antiair than Asoka but not nearly enough of army to put up a fight. I could have fought Charlemagne instead but I think Saladin might have fought (against him) & I wouldnt really get much land gain with proximity to Saladin's borders. It was a race for land! I already had a second unintentional legendary city (my oldest production city, houses a few culture ww's: mids gardens, angkor wat, taj, rock&roll)

2012 my commerce city (& taoism shrine, wall st + corp.. and 2 early settled GA's for their $ that I forgot about, no cathedral) unintentionally hits legendary and that's how I didnt get my first BTS domination win.

Looking back, having that much coastal resources + sushi corp gave me too much culture (+51 from crea con, +46 from sushi). I ran free speech fairly early too, I guess I could have switched from that late game.

I should have razed the city that housed the sistine chapel when I captured it. Those damn culture generating specialists!
