BUFFY & HOF Mod Releases

It's not going to be in the next Buffy, and I have no idea if it's viable, but I have had the same thought

I remember some discussion on this ... (summary from memory follows) ...
  • doesn't the game already do this ... select a scientist and the next one will be a scientist
  • the suggestion as it stands sounds pretty difficult with a second overlay for a city
  • also ... what happens if you run out of slots of your preferred GP?
  • the other option is that BUG / BUFFY tracks the make up of the GP pool and kicks out an alert if the makeup changes - that is doable

I believe there's a 3rd option, if one could "save" the tiles a city works, and then locks them. With that, then the govenor could be used again and one could specify which Specialists one wants to work, like one now also already can. Locked tiles would imho be better, because then, one could i. e. force the govenor to always work the food, even if the city grows into unhappiness.

I have another request; I was reminded because it just popped up in the a different forum.

Please fix the information for spaceship parts in the tab under World Wonders. It's a different tab from World Wonders and National Wonders in that particular screen. For some reason the dates don't show up.

Not sure if this works in BUG, but if it does, have a peek at the code there I suppose.

Is this something that's possible to mod with BUFFY? If it's possible to do without too much work, I would appreciate if it was added to BUFFY. I like that it's possible to sort world and national wonders by date and civilization, but that doesn't work here since the date column doesn't work properly.

I don't think you can add a date for something like a spaceship part. The BUG code adds a -6666 or -9999 for projects while it uses parameter [0] (the date something was completed) for wonders. I would take this to mean that projects are not associated with cities and don't have completion dates associated with them.

Hi.

I tried to look at this game in the HoF, I got BUFFY 3.17.001 installed, but CIV always crashes when I do so, does anybody maybe know why? It works until the point where it says that it needs to load the mod, then I press "yes" , and next, the game crashes, so it must be related to the mod somehow.

Tia,

Seraiel

I just figured out, that this is probably, because I don't have patch 3.17 installed d'oh.

Is there any way to work around this, or any kind of easy fix? I don't want to install CIV4 completely new, just to be able to look at that game.

You might try the "unprotected" save of the game info. I don't think that ever worked except for vanilla.

Otherwise you have to have the same assets to open the save. (i.e. 3.17 and the same version of the mod.)

Bit of a PITA, but maybe a virtual machine would work.

Not necessary, because it's possible to install CIV multiple times on the same machine, but thx.

In BUFFY .004, there's a checkbox for "show era" below the F6 science advisor. I don't understand what this box does though, becaue it doesn't i. e. show Writing as ancient and Alphabet as classical. The names of the techs are also green, I don't know if this is wanted.

I tried that option recently, either in the BUG of .003 BUFFY. Didn't see a change, but upon restart there was one, but it just made the tech screen look horrible. There was an extra layer of colour behind the various techs, colour depending on era, but it made the tech screen look pretty grotesque, so I unticked it again.

That was me :(. I was trying to build in eras on the tech screen (so that you could see at a glance where a new one was) ... but couldn't get it looking any good (as you noticed). It is (sort of) a stub enhancement that never got polished.

Oh, sorry for being so harsh then :o Perhaps it would look better if a bit more subtle. I expected another line when I hovered over the tech or something like that, mentioning what era the tech belonged to. That wouldn't be visible at a glance though.

Isn't that already available via the hover? Maybe it just says 'proceeds to XXX era'.

I'm quite sure it at least isn't in BUFFY .003, because I just recently hoped to find that info while playing a game.

I thought I saw it somewhere - I will check one of my pbem games.
