Bug Reporting

Hit CTRL-ALT-O and bring up the BUG options tabs. Under one of them is the option to "Build Military Units Forever" and another one about building forever. Untick both of those options.

Note that you'll have to scroll the page down to see those options.

Welcome back LM. It is good to 'hear' your voice here. Please don't rush anything :).

Thanks ruff. I won't rush. It's very difficult to type, so I have to take this v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y.

I'll be good, I promise. :mischief:

I just installed this mod on a clean install of civ 4 (with all patches) on my new rig. Everything seemed okay, except whenever I select a city none of the interface displays. I can still allocate citizens but I can't change what to build or organise specialists.

edit - just to clarify, I do have BTS installed to the latest patch and it works fine with BUG uninstalled.

Hello,
I am new to modding and this forum, but I would really appreciate some help.
I have installed Civ IV, Warlord and BtS 3.19 (not Complete edition, everything separate), but when I try to play C2C I can't see the User Interface. I know this has been reported and solved years ago, but I couldn't follow instructions provided by people back there (different OS, screenshots not available anymore). Can someone try to explain me what am I doing wrong, please?
Thanks ins advance!

If anyone experiences crashes (with BAT) when trying to exit to the main menu / desktop while in-game try this:
  1. Run the Civ4 exe in compatibility mode for "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)".
  2. Run the Civ4 exe as administrator.
This fixed the issue for me on Windows 7 x64 (steam version). I hope it helps :)

I recently downloaded BUG and BULL, and I'm having trouble merging them. I followed the instructions in the ReadMe file (I checked several times), but I keep getting these odd looking coded text when I play...

I'm not really sure how to fix this.

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it to work somehow.

You say that you merged BULL and BUG? If so, that may be your problem. BULL contains BUG already. It is supposed to be BUG with some added features. So if you merged them, you may have caused a problem. Try running BULL as downloaded and see if you get both BUG and the added BULL features, without the problem you are seeing.

Where is your CIV from? If it is from Steam, you have to run the original version of BTS, not the standard Steam version which will not support Mods, properly. Their naming convention is a bit weird, so the original version is named as if it were a beta of a modified version. I guess that is because they consider their version the "valid" one. If you are running that version, it causes this sort of problem as well.

I uninstalled BUG and ran just BULL but the same problem occured. Also I only gotten the BULL features, as i dont believe any of the Files from either Mod overlap, they just compliment each other.

My game copy is a steam copy, I'm not sure what you mean though. As I ran BUG alone fine, so its been able to run Mods through it.

The problem may be the Steam installation. Lymond answered a mod quiery in another area of the forum today. Here is the applicable part of his post:

--------------- begin Lymond quote ------------
One thing though that I know you need to do..having STeam version myself...is switch to the "orginal release" beta of BTS in Steam. Steam jacked with the game a few years ago when Multiplayer was switched over to their system, but this screwed with mods.

Go to BTS in Steam Library > Right click on the game > Properties > Betas tab > from drop down select "original_release_unsupported....." . Steam will redownload the game.

Also note a coupla other things:

1) Always run BTS from the BTS executable (not from Steam library)
2) Set BTS executable to "run as administrator" (right click>Properties>Compatibility> check the box)

3) mods should be installed into something like "Program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/bts/bts/mods". And yes, there are two bts folders so make sure it is the lower level folder and make sure the install is directed there if the install does not find it automatically (that does happen).

(all this assume windows OS)
--------------- end Lymond quote ------------

If you are not already doing this, then that may be the problem.

If that does not solve things, try this: The way I run BULL is that I have BUG installed in CustomAssets. That way it runs all the time whenever I start up CIV. When I run BULL, BUG is there, no need to merge anything.

If neither of these two things works for you, someone else will probably be along after a while. This forum area is not real active so it may be a couple of days.

I followed Lymonds instructions but no dice. If i run BTS from its executable theres loading errors and the program doesnt work. The same when i reinstall BULL as a MOD, when the game reloads the MOD the program simply crashes. Think I'm just going to stick too BUG Mod for now.

Thank you for taking the time to help me though for a game thats a couple of decades old!

Hello,

I encountered a repeated crash with BULL. I created a mod on the basis of BUG, basically by adding a lot of unique units. At the beginning, everything works as expexted. With the unique units built on, to some point, the game crashed at the end of the 3rd turns. If I turned off the BULL, the game would go on without a problem. But it could not proceed with BULL being switched back. If the most recently added unit was commented out, a new game could be played on with BULL.

I am wondering if there is anything special happed on the 3rd turns with BULL?

Any reponses will be hightly appreciated.

Perhaps you did not copy the Assets fold coming with the BULL to your CustomAssets folder. I have the same problem once. But it has gone after I copy the files. But I have a stand alone installation. Not sure about the steam installation.

I am not shure if anybody else encounter the same problem. Elizabeth is researching the Monotheism, but she has already get Christianity. Because I was running on BUG and BULL, I cannot determine if it is Civ4's bug or BULL's.

what is wrong with that? Christianity might have spread from someone else to her ... even though she hasn't got the tech that unlocks the religion. Can happen with other religions too.

Using the BAT 4.1 zip file, there's a terrain feature named Scrub that displays as a TXT Key error both in the civilopedia and in game. Why is that there and how is it fixed?

Edit: I removed its entry in CIV4FeatureInfos. Given that it isn't listed in vanilla BtS, it probably shouldn't be in an "unaltered" mod. I couldn't figure out why it displayed as a txt key error though.

It shouldn't be in BAT 4.1. It was a terrain feature I was experimenting with. You are the first person who has ever had an issue with it.

It was listed as a text key error because the supporting XML tags weren't there (by design). Really weird that this happened, and I'm sorry that it happened to you.

BTW, BAT is not an "unaltered" mod. Only the gameplay is unaltered. The rest (the graphics and whatnot) is fair game.
