I'm into creating soundtracks for all my games, and have been a fan since Civ I. My idea was to get "culture appropriate" music for each civilization to play by. This will probably only work for those who have a music subscription service (I have Zune pass).

Obviously, I could have filled out the list pretty quick, but I tried to only include music I really like (or at least as much as I can like "Indian Music" for example). You may note that not all bands hail from the specific country (Spain & China for examples)....the point is to get the general flavor with great music. Here it is:

Japan: Kodo - "Heartbeat"
Spain: Rodrigo y Gabriela - "Rodrigo y Gabriela"
Egypt: DJ Rekha - "Basement Bhangra"
India: Debashish Bhattacharya - "Calcutta Chronicles: Indian Slide Guitar Oddessy"
USA: Doc Watson - "Best of the Sugar Hill Years" [obviously anything will work here, but I like this real Americana]
Aztec: Strunz & Farah - "Jungle Guitars"
England: The Kinks - "Muswell Hillbillies" [just my favorite "British Invasion" album...pick yours]
Zulus: Madou Djembe - "Percussions D'Afrique"
Germans: Tool - "Undertow" [just one my favs...didn't even bother looking]
Russia: Various Artists - "Gypsy Beats and Balkan Bangers"
China: Gamelan Semara Pegulingan - "Music of Bali" [OK, not Chinese, but it is awesome and sounds authentic]
Arabs: TBD
France: TBD
Mongols: TBD

If you like the idea, and find anything else good, please post.
