Anyone know if they are going to have the Throne Room in CIV III like they did in CIV II. Maybe not a throne room in CIV III but a palace or something that you can upgrade when your people are happy with you, and that way it can change with the times. Who has a throne room in the Industrial Age???

Even though it's only a small extra, I agree.

Ancient age: throne room (carpets, decor)

Medieval: Castle (walls, moats)

industrial: Palace (decor)

modern: porno stash (hustler, celebrity skin)

Modern: Yes, and you add to your stash by going to the supermarket and selecting a quality magazine from the rack.

How about, instead of a throne room, a computer that could be continually upgraded? Oh man, why did I say that? Okay, just forget you read this.

"we call this room, the JFK room!"

It should be a palace like in CIV 1, and it should be visible in the empire's capital (where the palace is built) in the city view window

I agree with that! I think the palace of Civ1 was even better than the throne room of Civ2. Same for the view of the cities: to my opinion, the city view of Civ1 is better! Even if it's just in 320x200.

I am absolutely, completely and utterly devistated beyond all control and have suffered great dispair and mental irregularites with the chemical balance of my confused bewildered mind with the throne room!

I can't stand it! I hate it! I turn it off ! It is completely annoying, poor, weak and ruins the game !

I hate the throne room with my heart!

If there is a throne room in CivIII [ DAN please take NOTE]:

It MUST have something to do with the game. It simply MUST ! There can be NO substitute. At times the game can be drawn out enough as it is. The throne room simply makes it worse.

There should at the very 'least' be contributing factors between the game and the throne room (in a strategic manner) to have something to do with the final score.

Otherwise, in plain engish..."Piss it OFF"!!!

P.S. ....gazing into my crystal ball, I wish to inform certain people that I am aware that it can be turned off, but so can re-runs of Gilligans Island, that still don't make it right

Is it just me or did anyone else think that the city view featue in civII were really sh&*t. A 10million plus population city looked just like any other full of fields and crappy graphics. Firaxis should make it work or scrap it alltogether, preferably the latter.

A while back someone suggested that the throne room have the heads of all conquered leaders on stakes behind the throne.

Now THAT would be cool!

Keep the throne room concept (Mr Len, just take some pills and turn it off ). It always gives me just a little ego boost when my people spontaneously decide to reward me in this way. After all, that's a lot of why we all play the game, isn't it? The ego boost. I agree it could use a major overhaul, however. I like the idea of different rooms in different ages.

MrLeN, the throneroom is made for guys like you, who seem to get extremely heated when something doesn't work out the way they planned it. When playing an very tense game where the Zulus are wreaking havoc on your cities, the throne room should be a moment of pure rest...
You have to feel it. Let it penetrate you... Breathe..in.......and out. Choose a new feature for your throne room, and continue your battle refreshed..
Now you see: the throne room has as purpose!

I was wondering what is the earliest time anyone here has finished there throne room!
I think mine was 1950..something!

I never finnished it!! I guess either I win too soon, or I'm too bad a civplayer to receive a high score

I liked the palace concept from civ 1. You were able to choose a building style to add some personal flare. I HATED the throne room concept form civ 2. It was completely generic and LAME! In civ 3 I would like to see something much like the concept from civ 1.

In all honesty, at this point I wouldn't care if they replaced it with a bathroom! I just want to play the damn game!!!!!!!!!!

lol @ bathroom.

I agree !

I think that the Civ I idea was better.

It's just that when I am in the middle of trying to work out 35 things in my head. I have a plan for everything and it gets a little difficult to hold the order. THEN that pesky screen pops up (taking forever to do so) and all I have in my head is how great it is gonna be to take that Zulu city that is building the ships that stopped 1/2 my trade routes from being established.

I could handle it if the screen actually eded up 'looking nice' it doesn't even do that!

It should at least be tied in with the game.

ie: "Washington has celebrated we love the king 10 turns in a row, you may choose one extra improvement and 3 points will be added to your score".

Now THAT's something that will get me in, but as it stands, it is a giant pain in the BUTT!
