Goz-1, I left my wallet at home, but...

All depends on the start, but your ideas are good, as I play like that most of the time. BUT, if you have some close neighbours that doesn't like you, then you have to wait for the NC. BUT again, if you have a fair area of no AI, going for NC is great.

Sometimes I do it at one city, getting started on liberty and then free worker, then Tradition for the extra cpt, and if lucky wonder-bonus.

In present state, No4 would be able to build NC in about 14 turns...2 cattle and then mines, it could be a very early NC and if we sat on one city here, I would buy another worker.

If we find out there is something really good in that fog by the river, everything might change. That's why I love the starts of games the best, everything is unknown. :)

AH -> Mining -> Pottery -> Writing, 30-35 odd turns. We can have NC by turn 40-45, major boom!

Yeah, i'm probably still in favor of buying a library in the second city IF we have the cash. We can get two workers from liberty and building if we want to so i don't really think it's that important to buy one. Getting another city running while we build the NC would also be nice. As long as we can manage the happiness of course :)

The point was, IF we can expand without having one AI running over us. I'm happy with a bought library in a second city, if we have that option. If we're blocked in, maybe a second city is more important than anything else, if there is scores of land available then a quicker NC might do the trick?

Everything will be revealed when we start the game, but a discussion is very important.

So, you want NC, I just told you the quickest way of getting it. And I also said, that I sometimes hold it back, because I need to take that land before the AI, sometimes 3-4-5 cities. It all depends on the start.

So let us explore whatever map we're going to play and then we make the decision. Early NC is good, but early Great Library isn't bad either. Lots of choices, mate. :)

I agree, choices are better made whe we have more input. The only thing we really need to decide is early policies and an early research pat. A good build order would be good to discuss as well.

Scout - warrior - worker - monument

Or scout -warrior - warrior - warrior - warrior - infintity to grab someone elses Capitol. :)

If left alone for a bit, I choose the first, if totally panicky, then number 2.

SP's will get a discussion when the other guys read this, but I do prefer 3 Lib and one either Tradition or Honor. Remember Askia gets 75 gold a pop from barbcamps, we might need it.

Thinking of my deleted SP-games, we have to find an idea pretty fast if we want it to be interesting. That's why SG-games on civ4-5 failed so miserably.

We find a course how to win, that choice should be taken before turn 75-100, or it might turn into whitewash. If a team can concentrate on "f.e Domination", then we go there, same with every winning condition. WE go there, not I or me or us, we need to be be focussed.

I have never actually taken a city with warriors so i am not sure how easy it is. Otherwise i support the build order.

The thing about SP is the liberty finisher, i think the best use of that one is to rush a wonder, probably HG, PT or ND. This engineer (if we choose that one) will come later if we take one of the other ones, then again that might make better timing, it depends on how fast we get to education :)

But maybe you didn't intend to finish liberty at all? in that case i would love to hear you suggestion:) Just to be clear i am not AGAINST taking one in tradition or honor, i just want to have that great person when we need it;)

1 in Tradition is 3 cpt, 1 in Honor is 6 cpt per kill, so it all adds up. :)

Not really hard to understand, but in an environment of mainly barbs, we use honor to kill them and save the camp for 75 gold when we need it.

With Askia in SP, I get 2 archers out and 2 warriors for escort and ping barbs everywhere. When in need of another 150g, kill 2 camps instantly and upgrade 2 warriors to swords. Sortof.

If you get honor and tradition, before finishing off liberty, you will still not have the tech Theology, unless chosen. Neither will the AI.

So kill another 20 barbs in 20 turns, thats 120 points plus another 60 from Tradition. We lose maybe 15-20 turns to the Great Engineer, but we need the tech also. This gives us leverage if we fail on the mission to get HS.

I see your point, HS is very buildable as well. if we do that we can rush both PT and ND :)

If we are looking to play our best then going for an early Domination victory is really the only optimal play. Every other victory takes much longer. I usually like playing tech games for later Dom wins but it will drag things out longer than necessary.

If we are looking to warmonger then I don't think Rationalism is that important. Happiness will be much more of a limiter than science. Policies then would probably be Liberty to use the GE for ND, and the right side of Honor for happiness.

I think in the first 20 turns once we have explored a little we need to decide whether we will be REXing and then attacking with Mandukalus or staying smallish and attacking earlier with Swords. Generally for a sword rush you have to tech to IW asap and settle your second city on Iron. You would also build a lot of Warriors beforehand to upgrade to swords right when you get that Iron hooked up. I think it is all map dependent and we need to see how close our neighbors are, how much room we have to REX, and so on.

For policies I think 3 in Liberty is early priority, then at some point we need the right side of Honor and the rest of Liberty. For build order I think it depends on map a little. I think Scout first is great. After that though if I am going to REX I think I would go Monument to try to get the Lib policies asap. For warmongering, barb hunting, and staying smaller then I think I would go warrior. After those first couple builds it really is hard to plan ahead when so many different things can happen.

I actually tried a mandekalu rush on emperor just for fun and HOLY BACON, I just slaughtered the closest civ without being close to losing a single unit. And i didn't even have my own horses :D

I got chivalry at around turn 85 i think, standard speed :) So i would definately recommend something like that here, it really gives you an early advantage. I don't know how many civs you could go on wiping out but i'm guessing around 2 or 3.

Also, what map size are we playing?

Ok, I think we can agree to start policies with at least Liberty, it seems like a normal opener and gets us closer to finish that branch. Worker and settler from this and we're on our way.

Buildorder seems like at least scout...then maybe warrior or monument.

I was hoping we had the others here, throwing out ideas as well, but we have to wait.

SLH: We're playing standard Fractal and normal speed.

If we can get Chivalry around turn 85, then we might just go that way, sounds great! :)

lurker's comment: I'm sure most of you have seen this. SLH said he's already done it, so I'm sure he's seen it. Like Ron Burgandy once said, "I wanna say something. I'm gonna put it out there; if you like it, you can take it, if you don't, send it right back."

You don't need to waste any production on warriors. If you go straight to The Wheel you have everything you need (provided you have horses). Stay classy San Diego:D

NotSure: I never seen that and I'm going to convince my chicken team to go for all out. They just mumble and don't spit out what they want, so I'm gonna press them to go for Chivalry! ;)

Lazy buggers, doesn't know anything about warfare....(babbling slowly disappears as the windy conditions turn direction)

Haha, let us hear how our other members feel about this. I'm going to pm all of them, we need a team and we need answers. :)

Yeah, that's pretty much how i did it. Except i didn't have any horses of my own and i didn't finish liberty in time to bulb chivalry :)

I sent PM to the players that haven't given their opinion, so I guess we just have to give ppl a little time. Sparthage and JK are still interested, but apparently busy, apocalypse didn't respond yet.

If we're going for domination, let's go with it :)

I guess we better start this, since the input has been rather low.

Ok, either Jeffah or SLH can start the game. I had a peek to see if the saves were playable before hand and I play as No3. Play 10 or so turns, start AH then Mining. If you get a culture ruin - 1 in tradition, if not we go liberty. Buildorder - scout, scout then either monument or warrior, depending on the situation.

Roster:

SLH
or
jeffah
gozpel
JK
Sparthage
apocalypse

Good luck! )
