I've made an ancient era total conversion for Civ II MGE, and would appreciate testing and feedback so I can sure it's balanced! The ancient era is my favorite, so I wanted to make a mod which focuses exclusively on that time.
Here are two screenshots from a test game playing as Armenia. You can see Rome has conquered the Olmecs and the Assyrians are encroaching on the Roman flank. The Yamato are barely holding out against the Assyrian hordes.
The civ selection has been replaced with all ancient civs.
Romans Hittites Maurya
Aksumite Scythians Olmec
Gauls Persians Yamato
Armenians Egyptians Pyu
Greeks Assyrians Shang
Carthaginians Phoenicians Funan
Parthians Babylonians Goguryeo
Rows are the color family, so the first row is white and so on. The general guideline for inclusion is that every civilization MUST be ancient era. The columns are in general divided so that you can have a “themed” game. The first column would match up with the time of the Roman hegemony, while the second would be ancient Mesopotamia. The third row (with the exception of the Olmecs) represents the Far East. For a properly “Far East” themed game, you can select the Scythians instead of the Olmecs as the ancient Chinese experienced conflict with them, so they still count…sort of.
The tech tree has been modified, as have the units, buildings, and wonders. The civilopedia has been fully updated as well, as have graphics and leaderheads where necessary.

The mod can be downloaded here. To install simply unzip the contents into your CIV2 folder.
To uninstall simply download the Original Backup files and unzip into your CIV2 directory, this will overwrite all the modded files with the originals.
Again, I'd love to get some feedback to balance and polish this up.
