Crash to Desktop after first turn in BTS

I recently reinstalled BTS on OSX Snow Leopard from Steam. I have in the past been able to play the game without problems. I've thus been perplexed by the fact that I am now experiencing the same crash every time I try to play the game. Vanilla Civ4 and Warlords work fine, but BTS crashes to desktop after the first turn of any game, just before it would display the dialog to choose a technology to research (The offending function is ostensibly CvInfoBase::getTextKeyWide(), called from CvDLLButtonPopup::launchChooseTechPopup(CvPopup*, CvPopupInfo&) ). I tried reinstalling Civ4, Warlords, and BTS, but I get the same result. I verified the game cache on BTS and it seemed to check out all right. I haven't found any crashes quite like this one elsewhere on the site, so I am posting this to see if someone else can better diagnose it, or point me in the way of a thread that relates to the problem. I'm not quite sure if this is a graphics driver issue or something else given its absolute consistency and repeatability.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

For reference, my system specs are:
OS Version: Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
Model: MacBookPro6,2, BootROM MBP61.0057.B0C, 2 processors, Intel Core i7, 2.66 GHz, 4 GB, SMC 1.58f16
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M, PCIe, 512 MB
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics, Intel HD Graphics, Built-In, 288 MB

Below are the parts of the crash report that seemed relevant, minus info on threads that did not crash and on binary images. I can supply those if they help.

I've just had a new motherboard fitted in my PC, nothing else was changed but I am now unable to start a new game in BtS as it is crashing after the first turn is ended. I can however play an older saved game. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything and still cannot get beyond turn one on a new game.

Windows XP, Service Pack 3
AMD A6-5400K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics
3.62 GHz, 2.97 GB of RAM
Physical Address Extension
