Deforestation bonus AND worker bug

Two unrelated questions:
1. I conquered a city, it is still in unrest, a puppet, and does not build anything. If workers cut down forest nearby, will it be wasted, or is it saved for when the city cools down?
2. I really hate the worker bug  that makes workers forgetful whenever they work in some (totally irrelevant) "danger zone". Is there any mod that allows editing said zones? Or appoints itself as workers manager?

Is question 2 about how workers will wake up/stop what they are doing if an enemy is within two tiles (and thus able to steal them)? AFAIK there is no way to turn that off.

For the forest chop question, I'm pretty sure that if it is in resistance the production will be wasted, but I am not certain.

If it happened only on these conditions it wouldn't be much bother, but no- for extended period of time during and after war (30 turns? I am not really sure) workers with no enemy nearby will stop every turn. It happens in a wide stretch of land, centered in the battlefront (more or less, I couldn't take measurements). This is a major hassle.

So, it doesn't happen to everyone?

Re (2):
If you have the combat units to spare, put one with your worker to put it out of your misery. :) 'Escorted' workers do not clamor for your attention when in the midst of a job.

Never seen it happen when there was no conceivable threat (which could include barbs that you cannot see). The 2-hex threat radius I am unsure of; it could be 4 in case of enemy horse in an extreme case.

(1) I have never conclusively tested and also has me curious. Also applies to what affect it might have when producing gold/science followed by a unit/building.

Yes it's four turns for things like horses, even if the intervening terrain would prevent a one turn capture. Stacking a scout for this can be handy if you are passed needing your scouts or can afford the gpt luxury of having some extra scouts around (if they have extra eyesight they can also be useful for keeping the barbs away in the first place). I've never seen a worker stop when there wasn't something that could capture it in a turn or two, but they do stop often when the threat isn't actually real because of terrain or intervening units.

My impression was that there was NO threat whatsoever. Me and my neighbors are now filling an enormous area which is barbarian free, and there was no war for, dunno, 20 turns at the least.
I will check it if I find a map revealing cheat/mod. As for spare units - it depends in what stage of the game I'm in, so it'd helpful but not all the way through.

But I'm sure it's just the game working out the novice (me). Hmmmf.

I believe the worker issue is a known bug in the vanilla version. Is that the version you are playing? It was one on the main reasons I moved to G&K, before I felt I had fully explored vanilla.

@psparky as soon as you mentioned it my memory went back to vanilla, it's been so long I'd forgotten about the bug and you're right about the solution: get G&K or BNW. I occasionally think of playing a game of vanilla for nostalgia but this reminds me of why I probably won't. Stacking a unit on the worker did stop the problem as I recall just like it does now.

Cheers, mates. Did exactly that, problem gone... but adapting to g&k aint easy.
