[Religion and Revolution]: Adding Another European Nation

I'm thinking about the chapel, church and cathedral...should we change the building style for Russia into typical Russian churches? Could we find good models for that?

I am not sure about that. :dunno:

We would need to give them their own Buildings (using the same Types of BuildClasses).

It is possible of course.
But I don't think it is necessary.

I have started implementing Russia.

Since it is almost Chistmas however, I am progressing relatively slowly (but surely). :)
We are still missing a lot of data (Generals, Cities, Bios) anyways.

By the way:

What should the European Harbour for Russia be ?
St. Petersburg ? :dunno:

St. Petersburg sounds fine to me.

I thought about a city at the east coast of Russia - near Alaska, but did not found an appropriate one of this era.

St. Petersburg is an impressive and meaningful city...

@team:

The Russian City names are done.
I have taken the list from Global Clonization: 1492 and added some nice names from the huge list orlanth has posted.

@team:

I have created all pedia entries.

The only thing that is still missing is a list of about 12 good names of Generals.

Maybe Vladivostok as it is/was the most important harbour and trade centre on the east cost and by translation. means something like ruling the east.

Most of Russia's colonies did not need a harbour as they were connected by land.

St Peter is of course an impressive city but does not remind me about colonies.

Hi guys,

Not sure what names of generals you have, but here is a list of Russian Field Marshalls from 1700-1790.

View attachment Russian Generals.txt

Also here is a list of Russian settlement names in Alaska with their pronouncation in Russian where possible.

I did compose the bio's for Russia, the Russsian monarchy, Ermak and Baranov, but if they are not needed, no worries.

Ok, I have used these generals now.

Most of these have already been in the list.
But I have taken some from your list which were missing and replaced the ones I had taken as fill ups from orlanths long list.

If you want to, you can simply check the bios that are currently implemented.
If you like to improve or exchange, go ahead.

--------

I only wanted to implement Russia before christmas, so the team can play / test with it during the holidays. :)
(The few other changes that are currently planned for Release 1.3 will not have any effects on savegames.)

Thanks to Orlanth and Shoobs for providing info on Russia, any help is always appreciated.:goodjob:

However, I have noticed the bio's from some mods out there (and not just Colonization mods), are simply cut and pasted from Wikipedia. Not sure what legal issues this causes if any, and besides, I sometimes find Wikipedia is not always that reliable.

Reading through the thread, I couldn't see where the bio's came from. If the bio's are from one of Orlanth's mods, then I'm sure they are fine. If they are from one of the other mods floating out there then I might just give the bio's a once over as long as no-one has any objection.

I took the bios from KJ's Global Colonization: 1492.
But as I said, go ahead and improve or exchange in any way you like.
