Welcome to St. Iggy's Academy, the most prominent highschool in North America and home to promising future leaders, scientists, and you guys. St. Iggy's is a very well funded boarding school outside of Providence, Rhode Island. Through academic excellence, family money, legacy or pure luck you have found yourself as a student in this prestigious school and since then you have been living and learning there.

You've probably made some friends in your first year of highschool and some enemies too, worried about things that in retrospect really didn't matter that much. But now you are in your sophomore year and as such clearly far above the level you were at as a freshmen and you certainly won't make the same mistakes again.

For all your differences though there is one thing you have in common: You are all members of St. Iggy's Paranormal Club. It isn't actually a serious club, rather it was created as a way to get around the school's requirements that every student must be part of a club. Whether or not you joined it to get out of the requirement or not is up to you though.

One note from the GM before we start: There is a four player cap on this AC and I get to chose who those players are.

Alice's Monster Manual

Eastern Dragon

Don't trust anything that's higher on the food chain than you are.

Alice's Notes: The idea that Tamra has sentient powerful creatures trapped in her head is more than a little off putting. Especially since I don't believe they'd be very pleased with being trapped in there. Still this has to be one of the more powerful tools in our arsenal against anything that would try to come after us, its just that dealing with something that can think in complete sentences is inherently more dangerous than dealing with a dumb animal.

Esper

Couldn't be bothered to find one of your pictures.
A rare phenomena, espers actually refer not just to humans but any non-paranormal animal that has obtained paranormal traits. In general this occurs when coming into close contact with a paranormal creature. The effects of this change are extremely varied and do not seem to follow any trend.

Alice's Notes: This is what we have become after the incident in the abandoned house, most likely occurring when those orbs flew through our bodies. As far as interacting with other espers outside our group goes I would recommend extreme caution. It is safe to assume that we aren't the only espers out there and if there are others then there is something at work to keep them from being exposed to the outside world. I don't know what or why but that is just all the more reason to avoid it for now.

Ghosts

Not exactly Casper material
Ghosts are imprints of souls made of paranormal energy, the most common type of souls to do this are humans due to their intelligence but souls of animals becoming ghosts is not unheard of. Ghosts vary greatly in their ability to effect the normal world with some not being able to at all and some being able to temporarily take a fully corporal form.

While not all ghosts are malicious in nature the most notable ones are. Ghosts can haunt a place or a person, they are commonly seen to draw all sorts of misfortune upon them until they are destroyed. The reasons for haunting a person or a place tend to be different for each ghost, but one thing that is known is that a ghost that has killed someone in the course of haunting is very likely to continue killing. The larger amount of humans a ghost has killed the more clear their form becomes and the harder it becomes to exorcise them.


Alice's Notes: The main take away from this, I believe, is that ghosts can be exorcised. My power tells me nothing about how to accomplish this of course but it is comforting to know that they can be 'killed' as it were. From what I can tell the best options when dealing with ghosts is to exorcise them if they are not evil so that they can pass on or if they are evil then to definitely exorcise them so that you stop their rampage.

J'ba Fofi

Isn't she beautiful?
Native to the rainforests of Africa, the J'ba Fofi is an example of how paranormal energy can create some very strange creatures. Very similar in look to a jumping spider the J'ba fofi is about the size of a Labrador and are prized for their silk. Their silk has a higher tensile strength than kevlar but it is know primarily for how it vibrates near sources of paranormal energy, as such most legitimate devices that detect the paranormal contain a piece of its silk.

Alice's Notes: One of Tamra's little bastards, surprisingly harmless unless they catch you in their web. They usually go after less troublesome prey than humans and while its bite will put a nasty hole in your skin they are not venomous. The fact that we could use the silk as a radar of sorts is very helpful but beyond giving someone a scare we probably wont be getting much use out of it.

Kraken

It is not being released as it was never captured
One of the most famous of paranormal sea creatures and an iconic menace to sailors of old. It is also one of the very few paranormal creatures to gain recognition by the modern world in the form of giant squid, a subspecies of kraken that live closer to the surface of the water than most. Kraken have started to die out after the industrial revolution due to pollution in the worlds oceans, a prime example of how paranormal creatures can still be killed off by normal means.

Alice's Notes: As far as things to look out for when you go swimming goes this is pretty low on the list, they are a creature of another more brutal time. A low population means that even among those aware of the paranormal world seeing a kraken is rare and all the rituals related to them are being forgotten. Still it should be noted since Tamra can summon one that unless there is a large body of water near by it won't be doing much else besides crushing whatever it is summoned over, which still makes it pretty useful.

Jersey Devil

They are about as intelligent as they look.
A very odd paranormal animal native to North America with its only notable traits being how quickly it can move and it's bloodcurdling scream. Due to being a very common and low tier paranormal creature they have become a staple in the collections of cryptologists and are commonly used as a source of paranormal energy by many occult rituals.

Alice's Notes: Mostly harmless except for that damn annoying scream of theirs. These guys are a dime a dozen and have barely enough paranormal energy to be considered a paranormal creature. But the fact that they have some energy and are pretty much harmless makes them a prime target to all the basement weirdos who need some way to power their rituals.

Unknown Orbs


Not many things more dangerous than a lack of information.
Not much is known about these orbs that were found in the abandoned house, they seem to suck away warmth and have the ability to pass through solid objects. Everything beyond that is just speculation.

Alice's Notes: We don't know jack about these things and we found them floating around a pentagram, that is enough for me to rate them a flee-on-sight creature until we get more information about them.

Wendigo

Not quite what people would call Bambi.

Alice's Notes: I am having a hard time believing how any organization is able to keep creatures like this hidden from the public, especially given how difficult they can be to kill. Either we've just seen an anomalously deadly streak of paranormal creatures or there is something going on right now that we don't know about.

Werewolf

Very deadly.

Alice's Notes: I don't actually have any information on this monster as I was under the robed man's control when Chloe transformed and it seemed to disrupt my powers. I can however say that they are much stronger than any human and much more damage resistant. Although as we have seen the latter isn't always a blessing...


Management​

This is the second half of GhoStory and will be played outside of a chatroom. Here you will manage your character's life at a grander scale than is possible in missions. The choices you make here will have a slow but wider effect on your character and will determine what state they are in to deal with chatroom missions.

For every management section you get four slots with which to determine what your character shall do. This can be actions like doing homework, relaxing with friends, studying mythology in the library, or a special action like talking to a specific NPC or investigating a certain area.

Homework/Studying: The amount of effort you dedicate to doing homework is what will determine your grades in class. There are three levels available and while it is slightly modified by your current grade in class this is a general guide: strong effort (3 classes a slot but high chance of 'A' level work), normal effort (6 classes a slot, more likely to be 'B' level work), last second (doesn't take up a slot, 50% chance of being a passing grade). Furthermore you can choose to study in a similar fashion before tests for your classes.

Relaxing: A way to slowly regain sanity. By doing something your character enjoys or interacting with normal people your character gets a break from the paranormal creatures that destroy his/her sanity and slowly begins to heal. Going too long without relaxing is a good way to drive your character into a mental break.

Special Actions: Basically anything the players can think of. These will be dictated by you and their repercussions will generally be far more reaching than any of the other actions that can be taken.

He is well liked by most of the students in the school and is the teacher who signed up to supervise your club.

Description: A short, dark-haired girl with glasses who can usually be found sitting in a corner with a book.

Bio: At a first glance, Lilac would not be the first person you associate with the Larceini's: soft spoken and reserved, she is practically the model student, lacking the unbounded enthusiasm and wild energy of her parents, Lily and Rosa. However, despite the lack of a blood tie, it was her grandfathers influence and good fortune that pushed her through into St Iggy's Academy, and she has managed to hold down her place despite the high standards enforced there. Despite her introverted ways however, Lilac was unable to completely escape social interactions, and found herself saddled with a friend in the form of Chloe Cavlandros, a member of her Home Ec. class who seemed completely unperturbed by Lilac's lack of response to her conversation, and happily held up both sides by herself. Although Lilac accepted the daily intrusion on her private space as inevitable, and even began tossing a few comments into the conversation on occasion, she did make sure to choose a club with a little less in the way of uproar. The all-but-empty paranormal club provided the perfect hiding ground, and now Lilac uses the 'meeting' times to read quietly while their supposed leader dozes off.

Bio: Born as Eric, Silvermann was the second child to a well-off New English political family. Several family members were on various positions in state governments, and to them, public image meant anything. While no scandals ever broke out, Erin noticed everyone seemed distant from each other on family reunions, as if they were hiding dark secrets from each other.

Eric himself had a normal, uneventful childhood. He went to public school because his father was a champion of educational reform in Rhode Island, and he didn't want flak for not even sending his own kids to public schools. However, everything changed when Eric started going through puberty. He felt uncomfortable in his body, and not in a way most kids go through. Silvermann didn't feel like he belonged in his body; he hated all of his masculine traits and wanted to desperately changed. After years of mulling in internal agony, he finally admitted to himself that he was transgendered.

Internally identifying herself as Erin, she then went to her parents to talk about the news. They did not take it well. Overnight, their relationship fell apart, and they almost never talked to each other. Erin's parents used blackmail to make sure she never went public about her transgenderism, to make sure it wouldn't ruin their reputation and electability. The next school year, her sophomore year, Erin was transferred to St. Iggy's to "cure his deviancy". Erin was still forced to identify as Eric on a day to day basis, which killed her inside. Silvermann recently joined the Paranormal club, because, not knowing that it was the club to get out of joining clubs, she figured that a club about dark arts and magic wouldn't be too pious and holier-than-thou, and therefore would be a safe place to come out.

Bio: Ambitious, talented, and more than a little eccentric, Tamra was born across the sea to a relatively affluent family in Kent. An only child growing up comfortably, she was left alone most of the time as her parents went off to parties or political events, and she passed the time by watching movies that her American-born nanny would show her. She didn't mind in the slightest, and would spend days at a time just watching them, anything from artsy foreign films to big dumb action blockbusters. She quickly grew to love the medium, and by the time she entered high school she made it her life's goal to become the next great film auteur, in the footsteps of legends like Alfred Hitchcock and Quentin Tarantino.

Around this time, however, a wave of parliamentary reform saw her father unceremoniously sacked from the House of Lords, a sure sign that her semi-prestigious house was beginning its inevitable decline. Her father, wishing to spare his daughter from the turmoil that was to come, used whatever influence he had left to secure her an application for St. Iggy's Academy, where she at least would have a chance to make a life for herself once their wealth and influence ran dry. Moving in with her distant cousins Vincent and Jules, Tamra entered her freshman year with a bang thanks to her outgoing personality, and by the end of the year had been involved with every drama production the school put out and had at least a dozen screenplays for her future masterpieces written out. However, her desire to have complete control over whatever production she was involved in, as well as her excessively obnoxious personality, clashed with the other drama students, and she was unceremoniously booted from the club by her sophomore year. She's since tried to get involved in every other club in the school, but could never find an activity that she could enjoy, and when she did she got kicked out of the club within a week. She's since decided to try out the Supernatural Club, thinking that if nothing else she would get a bit of inspiration for the ghost story script she was stuck on.

He had a pretty average childhood, though he was always somewhat of an outcast in his school, never entirely fitting in and always somewhat awkward around most people. At the end of 8th grade, he and his father moved to Boston, and for better education his dad sent him to St. Iggy's Academy. By sophomore year he'd become more in touch with people than before, and in addition to a couple other clubs, he joined the Paranormal Club just out of curiosity.

Bio: The most common place to find Kathy would be an open public area, usually crowded, such as a park. There she spends her day watching the common people pass by and go about their daily lives. An aspiring writer, she attempts to describe in great detail the actions and appearances of these people in her notebook, using it as practice for writings later in her life. This pastime does extend to her classes as well, where she spends the majority of time describing her teacher and fellow classmates instead of writing what she is supposed to be, which has had a noticeable impact on her grades.

Though she chooses to place her, in her mind, future career as an author ahead of her schoolwork, Kathy chose to join the Paranormal club instead of the expected Creative Writing club. In her mind the activities of the Paranormal club and the people in it would probably be more exciting to write about and get ideas from than several like-minded people also wanting to be writers. At the very least, it would give her writing some more variety.
 
So, first mission. Everyone went to a haunted house to get some footage for a back to school night presentation. They found some satanic rituals, Jersey devils, and floating lights of ominous. Much sanity was lost, far more than necessary, here are the total results:

The second mission has come and gone and we managed to get through that one with only a single dice roll. Everyone had some strange dreams the night before and when you woke up after breakfast you guys decided to start exploring your powers. Everyone found out a little about their powers but not all some finding less than others (Kathy has some sort of miasma thing, Erin can generate some sort of energy blast, Tam can create and release monsters, Alice can identify paranormal creatures, and Lils has a portal). Then at back to school night Erin gave a speech and the parents were shown your video of your time at the abandoned house. After a spook with 'the room' as it is being called in the teacher's lounge you guys ended up earning the ire of the vice principal. After that pizza was had and Erin came out as transexual.

Well that went downhill fast. You guys got into a fight with an elder ghost and ended up coming out on top (for the most part) though so at least you got that.

Now there are many things that have happened, as you guys were in the car that ended up in the worst situation from the trip you have all gotten attention from the student body. The school has been looking for someone to blame but in the end it has been chalked up to freak weather conditions, although the damage to the highway where the kraken landed has greatly puzzled many.

Mr. Kesey ended up getting hospitalized and discharged with a wheelchair until his legs heal up enough to walk on. Many are surprised that he is so eager to get back into teaching but he has gotten many get well gifts from students and visits to his office, perhaps you should as well? Lauren hasn't been seen for a week since you got back from the ill-fated trip, she went directly to her dorm room and hasn't come out. Alice has also been acting strangely since she has returned, stranger than usual at least. Then there is the strange black man you saw during the trip, although you don't know what happened to him you do at least have the rosaries he gave you as some form of a lead. Another thing you really should be looking into is relaxation time, bonus sanity restored for either writing up a little story about what you did or RPing with someone. Studying power through special actions is also a suggested course of action for you guys after that fight. And of course there is always school work that must be done, so many things to do and so little time.

Hey this is a reminder to send orders. Only Red and DT have sent them so far.

Also I will not be able to run a mission on Thursday due to having a Biology Midterm on early Friday. Looking at either running a mission on Friday or Saturday depending on what you guys prefer.
