For those who have downloaded the 1.2 update of Ethnic Mix More, your attention please ...

An error occured on the Civilopedia text of the mod. So, here is the corrected Civilopedia file :

You just have to replace the old civilopedia file ( Mods/EthnicMixMore/Assets/XML/Text ) with the one above ( shorter to download : 340 ko than re-download the full Mod ! )

Anyway, I have re-uploaded the complete Ethnic Mix More mod ( same bat thread, same bat link ) with the file corrected :lol:

Another interesting detail about Ethnic Mix More : I'm going to propose 2 versions of the mod :

- One without Blue Marble Graphics

- One with Blue Marble Graphics

It's not the complete fantastic Blue Marble Mod from ColdFever
It's just the BlueMarble "core" files ( only BM terrain, without BM mousepointer, without BM fonts, etc ... ) from pure zip package for highres supplied by ColdFever.

It adds 25 MB to the original Ethnic Mix More ( the weight of the terrain graphic files : uncompressed )

Tested working fine on both Mac and PC :)

- Tested working fine in both single and multiplayer on MAC
- Not tested in multiplayer on PC ( sorry : don't have 2 PC at home ) but, if it works on Mac multiplayer, should work fine on PC too :D

Some infos related to the current work for the next ( 1.3 ) update of Ethnic Mix ;) :D

I continue working on some Celtic units ( spearman, pikeman, crossbowman )

I already intgrated some other Tsentom1 wonders in addition of his great Eden Project

The ones I added are :

- The Sphinx
- The Great Bath of Mohenjo-Daro
- Copernicus Observatory
- Cheomseongdae ( Eastern Flavor of Copernicus Observatory )

For now, it works really fine :)

Next add from Tsentom1 wonders : Leonardo Workshop :)

After that, going to make 2 more units for Ottoman :

- Warrior
- Rifleman

And before going any further with units, I'll clean as much as possible all units folders ( 450 folders ) because I know that some of them have really to be cleaned ( unused dds, unused stuff )

Then, going to solve all minor bugs ( like some missing textures in Cultural City Style )

Asap I finish, I will update some units and continue to add some ... :D

Of course, Ethnic Mix More Mod 1.3 will be available both with and without ColdFever Blue Marble terrain graphics !

This excellent mod doesn't add any gameplay changes, does it? Are there any plans to either introduce some DLL's or to combine the beauty of this mod with a mod that does make gameplay changes? Thanks!

The purpose of this mod ( from the beginning ) is to propose :

1) graphic units enhancements ( as much as possible )

2) any graphic enhancement which doesn't slows down too much the gameplay ( Cultural City Style and for Ethnic Mix More in Blue : The Blue Marble terrain graphics ) I think too about some other graphic mods for future updates ... :crazyeye:

3) new wonders ( 5 or 6 in the next 1.3 update ) new leaderheads ( I plan 1 new one for each civilization of the game ), new civilizations ( I plan perhaps 1 or 2 civilizations such as Tibet and/or Polynesia )

I plan to create another Mod ( ancient times only ) with the graphic stuff of Ethnic Mix More ( but not now ... I will wait Civ 5 for this )

It cannot introduce any dll since it intends to be multi platform compatible ( PC-MAC ) and mods on Mac cannot handle dll ( which is not a problem from my point of view )

Advantages : you can play with it on both Mac and Pc and ... you can integrate Ethnic Mix More mod in some more complex one which does make gameplay changes :D but still ... without any dll !!! ;)

I won't be the one who's going to make such a mod because my ability is only graphic, xml, a bit of NifSkope and soon I hope : a bit of 3D stuff :)

Anyway, I'm opened to any collaboration with any modder which intends to make gameplay changes as far it doesn't add one dll in it ...

Oh, I see. Hopefully someone will offer to collaborate with you. I enjoy your graphical changes so much, but when I just played EMM Blue 1.2, I kept looking for all the gameplay changes I was used to that weren't there. I haven't played vanilla civ in so long that my brave little Japanese civilization got obliterated, I wasn't prepared for how brutal the original game was for someone like me. Thanks again.
 
In fact, there are quite many "horse archers" units who carry spears. They are called horsemen or prodromoi. Their animations are ( for example ) Charlemagne_Light_Cavalry or Horseman_Eurasian but they are attached to the game as Horse_Archer because it is a class ( a category ) in game. :)

Unit creators freely choose something more accurate sometimes ;)

There is no "Horseman" class in game ... But you'll find quite many animations related to.

My knowledge of history is about the facts, political and economical approach of history, ethnology ... I'm really not a specialist of military uniforms and stuff in history. You'll find somes really good here :D ( another reason why CivFanatics is a damned good forum ) but it seems to me than horsemen are more common than horse archers ( depending of civilizations of course )

Okay, I'll have to use them again and see what they do. I haven't played this mod in a while because I am so used to mods with gameplay changes. I love the variety of textures in this, though.

As I always continue to work on the mod, maybe I posted the one I'm working instead of the stable one.

Don't worry for these, gonna to check and fix. So thank you very much Avain to point on these xml mistakes.

Of course, you can use whatever you want. Just tell me which ones. That's all ;)

Going right now check the byzantine set + celtic pikeman. Wow, just coming back and already at work for Civ ! :lol:
 
Error report: there's something wrong with the Byzantine set, it causes CTD. Probably a bad XML reference.

I'm surprised. I noticed none problem with this set :) ( good news ! )

Re-tested twice with Byzance civilization : no problem at all. The Byzantine set is Danrell one + Danrell Byzantine units based only.

Could you point me the xml tags you have problem with ?

About The Celtic Pikeman, here the link to 4 different Celtic Pikemen in "Renaissance" style ( except the ones with shield ) and so, maybe I messed up with these :confused:

Pick the one you prefer. The one with 2 pikes is not at all a problem of xml or animation. It's a pikeman with 2 pikes and it's working fine.

Hu, long time I didn't play so I checked on my version and celtic pikeman + Byzantin are all ok.
Sounds like a strange problem there ...
 
Uhm, I didn't realize it's a two-spear unit! sorry

Also, the error I suspect at the Byzantine set is because I try to list all the units for the civs, and the Byzantine is causing CTD. It might even be that the particular unit is not even used for the Byzantine set because of the way you implemented it (lot of unique units)
