I had no idea what a Tribal fanatic was
Looks kinda like a Rastafarian to me...
you mean Rastafarians kinda look like Indian Tribal Fanatics
... and what makes him a fanatic?
Naked guys with dreadlocks are all over India. Theyre called saddhus. Some of them are into the bhang, some of them live in graveyards, and some of them carry traditional weapons. They predate the Rastafarians by at least a couple of millennia since their type is mentioned in the Mahabharata.... I guess all people walking around nekkid are considered as fanatic units in gaming terms
... but, um, well what is he wielding, ... ?
That is one big club he is weilding.
He is wielding a club, and its a bigg`un!
Clubs and or maces are an important traditional Indian weapon. In one strand of Greek myth Hercules founded a dynasty in India; and, indeed, the mace can be anything from his style of huge rough club to a gold-plated head-splitter in a variety of sophisticated shapes. The mace is a symbol of virility & strength as you would imagine. Its wielded by everyone from demons and gods to heroes and kshatryas (noble-class warriors). That weapon (sceptre...?) is awesome!
(for that matter, what time period is he from?)
does this have a time period? or is it an acceptable warrior replacement for India?
I think the time period fits all the way up to British occupation.. IIRC there were some "wild" mountain tribes even then. I would use him as a Warrior tho.
We can get an image of how do ancient hindu warriors look from the Alexander movie.
A fascinating unit. Looks like something out of "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom."
Stormrage wins the Dr Who Memorial PsychoArchaeology prize in my opinion. This type of warrior would be appropriate from state-of-the-art Neolithic up to 20th remnant indegene. In the upper left of both these galleries is an image of a current Vedda tribal chief. They are the original, forest-dwelling, inhabitants of Sri Lanka, and may have been scapegoated as the raving demon warriors of the Ramayana.I am using this one to replace the indian warrior. Perfect unit for the role.
Actually, saddhus are wandering "holy men". In the myths (Ramayana, Mahabharata, etc.) they show up to stand in for impotent kings who need a world-class hero for a son, or to raise the son in the forest and teach him all sorts of occult fighting skills before his true heritage is revealed, or to save the son in the nick of time by making pure shakti energy come out of their hand and sizzle a demon disguised as a gopi girl, or by meditating for a thousand years make the gods fork over a planet-busting weapon that can only be wielded by the hero, etc., etc.Blue - were the Saddhus ever a feature in armies, or were they irregulars?
Hmm, so maybe this unit should have nuclear attack?... meditating for a thousand years make the gods fork over a planet-busting weapon that can only be wielded by the hero, etc., etc.
OH YES YES YES!!!!!!
i can't believe i didn't see this until now!
oh man, this guy is PERFECT for my mod!
i wanted a unit just like this!
he's gonna be either "Witch Doctor", or "Apedemak Priest",
or even "Village Mystic".
kinda like what Plotinus has the "Monk" do in Desert and the Mountain (great mod).
thank-you thank-you THANK-YOU!
DLing him now!
No, I'm saying that I think that you have a nuclear attack. I imagine you to look rather like a bust and be permanently surrounded with darkness. Are you saying I look like a wizened Indian mystic?
Thanks for the compliment, and it would be cool to have a crazed serial killer saddhu running around banging heads as my namesake (really, since all my RL friends tell me I'm that real nice quiet easygoing guy who goes all Falling Down when you cross that invisible line with him ) but IMHO this is what a "Blue Monkey" unit should look like.I might have one in my scenario with the name changed to Plotinus. And another one called Blue Monkey.
