It's Pi Day!
So make sure you all eat a slice of pie on 3/14/15 at 9:26:53 :D (It only comes once in a lifetime)

That said, let's do something completely unrelated: release a civ!
(Not because pi, just because it's been done for a while and today's a special day)

Spoiler :

The Samanid Empire lead by Isma'il ibn Ahmad

Capital: Bukhara
Colors: Crème and Navy Blue
Primary Bias: Science
Secondary Bias: Conquest
Start Bias: Desert
UA: Rival of Baghdad - 1 culture per turn per technology known. Cities connected to the capital generate +10% science, or 15%, if the city's majority religion is the same as the capital's.
UU: Ghilman - Replaces the knight. Costs slightly less to produce than a knight. Receives +15% attack bonus near enemy capital cities and receives a +15% combat bonus if adjacent to another Ghilman. Empire receives gold equal to the experience earned by the Ghilman throughout its existence when it dies.
UB: Madrassa - Replaces the university. +33% science and +15% culture in this city. 1 science and culture per desert tile worked by this city instead of 2 science from jungles. +2 faith.

Thanks for this new civ! I haven't tested it yet, but is the 1 culture/turn per technology get really, really powerful?

It's Persia day! :D Interesting :goodjob:

Made some apple and coconut cream pie to celebrate. :)

In the late game, theoretically, yes. Although by that time, you'll have enacted enough social policies that you'll need all the culture you can get, so that would diminish it...
I wouldn't say it's super powerful...

Gnah, still have front page edits to do... :cringe:
Still have no idea what to do for a front-page overhaul. Not sure what designs to use without copying someone else...
And the satellite tracking thing... I dunno, just seems... kinda... tacky, I guess.

I noticed in the satelite tracker graphic it says "Bias 2 Gold" but in the description below it says "Secondary Bias: Conquest."

Hm. That's true. This seems to be the only civ of mine with a tertiary bias, or a second secondary bias. :p TBH I really couldn't decide between those two; its Civ4 Traits are Inventive and Mercantile (hence gold) and because you get rewarded from making city connections, but I believe I once described the Samanids thus:
...the next civ I hope to get out... will be a highly science-based, hit-and-run conquering civ.
More like Assyria high on caffeine while meditating, I think, if you can imagine that
'course, at the time, no one else knew what civ I was talking about.
Offense is probably more realistic anyway, since it has a attack-based UU. But choose to believe whichever one you want.

I'm playing the Samanids and I have 2 issues.

1) As you can see in the screenshot below, the decision icons aren't working properly.
2) You'll notice I have more then 335 :c5gold:, 335 :c5culture: and 2 Magistrates. I can assure you I have Mathematics (I'm 1 turn from discovering Education), but Promote Theology is still listed as locked.

Spoiler :

Hm. The first should be quite easy to fix, it merely means I'm missing one minor art asset. The second should be fairly easy also, but we'll see. No diagnosis yet. Hopefully I can get it fixed tomorrow. No log errors?

And I just realized I forgot to update the Invisibility Patch, so I'll do that tomorrow too.

And I just realized I forgot to update the Invisibility Patch, so I'll do that tomorrow too.

Also the Desserting Cavalry event gave me no options to choose so I had to esc back to the main menu and load my last autosave.

Any chance you would be willing to patch the invisibility into the individual mods?

IINM this would make all my mods completely incompatible with each other. :/
The entire point of the Invisibility Patch is to prevent precisely that. Its code includes an override of the UI lua... and any two mods that override the same file are incompatible. Hence, if the same invisibility code existed in all my civs, you could only play one of them at any given time.

As for the E&D errors... nothing error-ish sticks out at first glance. I'll have to see if I can reproduce the errors. However, that will require Civ5 to actually start up, which for me has been crashing lately for no readily apparent reason.
EDIT: Yep, even after I reinstalled, Civ5 is still crashing when I try to load it. :( I can't even try to reproduce the error for the foreseeable future.

Did you manually delete the civ 5 folder before reinstalling? Steam doesn't uninstall anything that the user has modified on his own, I think.

Hm. I know other creators make use of invisible buildings in multiple mods. Is there another way to do it?

There is, but it's restricted to BNW. That method would make my mods incompatible with G&K.
The real problem here is that I'm just stubborn and refuse to move on to modding just BNW. :p

No, I just did "Delete Local Content" and then installed again. So, I guess it's time for round 2 of the reinstall.

Ah! I didn't know that, thanks for the clarification!

Welp, in honor of April Fools Day, let's a release a completely out-of-the-blue civ... :mischief:
Spoiler :

THE FEDERATION OF DAN, A Squid-Based Civ!
The Federation of Dan lead by Dan the Squid
Capital: Squidtopopolis
Colors: Deep Middle Blue and Aqua-Sky Blue (Reverse of the icon)
Primary Bias: LOLZ
Secondary Bias: Marine Life Supremacy
Start Bias: Coastal
UA: Approves this Message - Founded coastal cities have doubled yields and generate a random unique luxury nearby. Founded landlocked cities have halved yields and founding one generates 5 turns of anarchy.
UU: Big Squid - Dan the Squid's Unique Unit which replaces all naval units. 50 Strength and 5 moves. It may also construct fishing boats. Has a permanent -50% defense penalty and may receive the unique Hasty Retreat line of promotions, as well as expend its opportunity for a promotion in exchange for 1 Ink resource.
UB: Ink Refinery - Dan the Squid's Unique Building which does not replace anything. Requires 1 Ink and converts it into 1 Oil, generates +1 Science per ocean tile, and has Engineer specialist slots. While incurring a heavy 10 Gold maintenance cost, it also generates 1 Gold per population each turn.

Peace Theme: "Strength of a Thousand Men (Extended)" by Two Steps from Hell, edited to play at 1.28x speed and pitch by yours truly
War Theme: "To Glory" by Two Steps from Hell, edited to play at 1.28x speed and pitch by yours truly

SUPPORTS:
Civ IV Traits
Cultural Diversity
Events & Decisions (this might be broken, but I'm not entirely sure)
Map Labels
Unique Cultural Influence

No Piety and Prestige since Dan's Federation is coded to largely ignore religion.

SPECIAL THANKS
Barathor Coral icon
Civitar Big Squid graphics
Sukritact Lua, originally coded for JFD's Carthage, which I then stole and slightly edited
