Linux and Civ V

Civ5 being the only reason I still had Windows I ditched it and installed Ubuntu today.

And everything works very well, played a bit, and no problem whatsoever

... Until I exited the game. I'm out of the game, but apparently it's still running in the background. I can't play anything as there's a game still running.
I tried ending the process in 'system monitor', but that doesn do anything.

Is this an issue with the game or did I do something wrong?

Hello guys, I hope some can help me.
The thing is I have Lubuntu 14.04 installed PlayonLinux and wine for NFS latest ( after 1.7.2 ) but it crashes on startup.

So, I have a similar problem, I have Linux Mint 15 Quiana and was trying to play the Linux version of the game (without Wine). The game shows the "preparing to launch" screen, and then... nothing!! No error message, no Civ, no launch, nothing happens. Someone could tell me what is going on?

Hi all!

I just came by to thank Firaxis for releasing Civ5 and Gods&Kings as native Linux versions. Only this week i found the time to sink some hours into Civ5 again, and i'm really happy that the native client runs so smoothly. the only issue i have is when the screensaver activates, then the game sometimes has a hard time 'coming back' (sometimes it crashes). other than that it's really great not to have to mess around with wine, and to finally be able to play Huge maps without the horrible lag i had in wine

Having Civ5 native on Linux is great, it brought me back to the series again after a long break. Thanks also to Aspyr who ported it.
