Firaxis' official Gods & Kings site now up and running!

In what way does he sound young? Is there an element of Swedish that might give away age or has my brain tricked me into thinking he sounds middle-aged? Is Swedish usually spoken in a deeper voice?

Sorry for the really later reply, but I haven't been on the forums for a while.

I think it's a combination of his voice and his pronunciation really. His Swedish is flawless, and its clear that he is voiced by a native-speaker, but the fact that his voice isn't particularly deep combined with his specific accent just really makes him sound like a brat. It's really hard to try to explain, but basically, he sounds like a young person who wants to act snobbish. :p

All-in-all, I still think the voice actor did a good job on his voice though. It's well-acted, but just not how I imagined Gustavus sounding.

PS. Does his voice actor sound familiar to any other Swede? I can swear I've heard that specific voice before.

By the way, is it just me who think Prince William sounds awesome? I don't speak Dutch, so I can't comment on the accent, but I just love the way he sounds. It reminds me of the jibberish spoken in The Sims, except way cooler. :)

For a finnish hakkapeliitta such as myself, it's funny to be able to understand what a leader(Gustav Adolphus) is saying. :)

Before it was only the english-speaking leaders.

A bit weird how they refer to him as a prince. Nobility wasn't all that important in the Netherlands.
I speak Dutch, and he sounds very stylish. It doesn't sound like modern Dutch either.
Actually, his voice reminds me very much of this comic character :p:https://encrypted-tbn1.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRFj_gaJfIap0_2JvUCbkLO6x1_0mmpH7W915rPF0G3y8gHaQjP

When is it actualy released?

Because I went to my game dealer and Order it So if it comes out he kees a copy for me.

ANd he said he could have at 1 june or possible 22 june that sounds a little bit wierd does anybody else had this?
It was a belgium store.

Is it possible that it would be released earlier 1 june?

To me MT sounds aristocratic and high pitched, not like a teen, but like a grown woman who happens to have a reedy voice. I think some people see an aged woman and expect her to sound like Victoria.

GA sounds like I would expect him. His voice isn't bassy, but it isn't so much like a teen's. It sounds like a guy in his twenties. He's a bit more refined than the Denmark leader, I wouldn't expect a deep, gravelly voice.

William sounds completely awesome. I wasn't expecting such a deep, resonant voice for him, but it works. He's very charismatic.

I enjoy watching these since it's the only time I would want to hear them speak. I never have any of the annoying sounds and speech on during the game.

Having shown the Boudicca speech to my Welsh friend, she reckons she's speaking Welsh. Saying something along the lines of "Hello, I am Boudicca, Queen (or princess) of the Celts. No-one shall [...]". She didn't quite understand the final word, being primarily an English speaker.

Wait what? Sejong is monotone? I think you need your ears checked :D

Maria Theresa's voice makes me think of a mouse. It's too high pitched to be a flirty teenage girl. I suppose mice could be royal...

Sejong is very monotone.

The person who voiced him was trying VERY hard to put on a Korean accent.

On Youtube I found of video of people doing their own custom voice overs of Sejong because they thought that the original one wasn't good enough.

I keep listening to their sentences over and over again, they're all so much fun to LISTEN to. Especially the Netherlands and Sweden!

Attila's accent is too Russian, but his words are not similar with anything Slavic at all. It's like a Russian-speaking man reading a text on an unknown language, written in cyrillic.

Towards the end of the introduction I,too get that feeling that I'm hearing a Russian speaker.

Its funny considering they could have gone with any old langauge, but this voice actor is all over the place. One moment I get a vibe from a Scottish accent, then Turkish and then finish it up with a splash of Russian...

I guess its better then him speaking Hungarian, but it does feel forced like you say a man reading a undead language with himself making it up as he goes along.....

unlike Willem and Maria both which sound pretty good:goodjob:

I love that big old book Will is holding! You can even hear the soft thud of those huge pages! :hatsoff: :goodjob:

Swedens ability seems weak to me, unless it can stuck... even then idk. Aren't there buildings that give 50-100% boost to GP generation? It seems to me you can only feel the difference if you have DoFs with 5+ civs...

Not quite 100% but Gardens, the National Epic and the Hagia Sofia (I believe) all boost GP production. At least, they are what I build when I'm Babylon.

I'm really looking forward to Sweden. With these buildings, and a few DoFs they should be quite powerful. Especially if you take Papal Primacy as a Founder Belief and the Educated Elite social policy (allied city states will occasionally gift GP- assuming it stays the same).

They have good UUs and, if played right, should be quite versatile in both war time and, especially, in peace time.

The Freedom opener also gives 25% to GP production. I think Sweden is going to pick Tradition, Patronage and Freedom as its Social Policy trees. Just run a large capital with some wonders and specialist buildings.

They add up. Or they should. Sweden's ability is unique in that it gives a bonus to other civs as well. That alone should show you that it is strong if it needs a balancer.

One could calculate the total bonus, but I'm too lazy for that right now. You should maintain some Friendships in any case anyhow. If you have 3 or so, a Garden and a National epic, you can get up to 200%, quite large.

I listened to it again today. By Western standards, it is not monotone at all.

But for an East Asian language (I assume Korean has tones like Chinese), he IS extremely monotone. I recognized some phrases that I think are the same in Chinese, and he sounds like a non-Korean trying to be Korean.
