Civilizations by ldvhl

ldvl, can you tell me the uniques (unit, buildings, improvements) for those civs? I want to try writing their civilopedia entries.

Also,it seems like a lot of your leader choices are obscure. Nothing wrong with that. :D
Looks like I have to dig deeper than wikipedia. I still haven't found out if Samala (Chumash leader) was an actual person.

What is the Free Territories and Komori? Cause I have no idea what they are

As I understand it, Samala is the original name of Rafael Solares (I got the info here).

Komori is the autonym for the Comoros Islands.

Here's the uniques for each civ: Chumash (Tomol and Scorpion Tree), Shawnee (Red Stick Rebels and Mound), Niimiipuu (Piwapciyawnipac ciyaw [which is just their word for warrior, it's a Cavalry replacement unit]and Fishery), Paiute (Raider and Dance Circle), Pequot (Mihkiku [a word for Strong Defender] and Casino), Squamish (Language School and Potlatch House), Muscogee (Red Stick Loyalist and Posketv Grounds), Pomo (Nomad and Basket Weaver), Tsehestano (Dog Soldiers and Hunting Lodge), Illinois (War Party and High Mound)

Thank you very much for your help!

Ah, Rafael Solares, I have heard of him.
I noticed that Mahpiya Luta is the native name for Red Cloud, who was a Sioux leader. Why did you choose a Sioux to lead the Tsehestano/Cheyenne?

Also, can you tell me the leaders of the other civs you plan to release? :)

The first question is good since I can't answer because my memory is garbage. Now that I've looked closer at them, their UB will be the Arrow Lodge and leader will probably be Mo'ohtavetoo'o/Black Kettle.

Leaders for other civs I have queued up: Ghezo for Dahomey, Farrukh Yassar for Shirvan, Said Ali bin Said Omar for Komori, Ariarathes V for Cappadocia, Erendira Ikikunari for Tzintzuntzan, Huan for Qi, Lin Jun for Ba, Wuling for Zhao, Nestor Makhno for the Free Territories, Qian Liu for Wuyue, and Rashid ad-Din Sinan for Nizari Ismaili.

Yep - and I forgot who we had as leader for the Selk'nam?

We can double down on getting the Selk'nam done once the Tehuelche are out the door. No worries.

For Guandao, don't worry about civilopedia entries for the Tehuelche and Selk'nam, Hoop's already got those covered.

ldvhl, you have my thanks for coming up with Native American civs.

Too often, I encounter comments on the internet portraying the North American Indians as "primitive" or "stone age" peoples. They claim they never worked metals before Columbus, that they didn't use wheels (despite not having the animals appropriate for pulling carts), that they had no written language (apparently oral tradition is inferior in their viewpoint), that they were violent and always at war (ignoring the trade relations and intermarrying between different groups), etc. Somehow, these "facts" make it alright for the exploitation and dispossession of land of these indigenous peoples.

I'm getting sick of seeing these racist comments. So I appreciate modders making Native American civs. :D

I'm sick of the same stuff, Guandao, so I'm glad to find someone with similar views. Thanks for your support!

If you need help finding city names for the Shawnee or any other civ, I can assist you in creating city lists :). My signature has the link where I post the city lists for modders (I'm just starting out so work is welcome).

Thanks Ajsieg! I may well take you up on that offer when I get to Tzintzuntzan and a few others.

ldvl, how did you came up with the Nomad as the unique unit for the Pomo? Is it a reference to their past hunter-gathering culture?

Yep. I'm open to other ideas for their UU, but the general plan I had was that the Nomad could turn into an Encampment UU on resources that would be claimed by the Pomo.

*cough*

Thank you very much Hiram!

ldvhl, how did you come up with Red Stick Loyalist as a unique unit for the Muscogee? Is this meant to be the Muscogee who opposed the Red Stick Rebels?

Also, is High Mound (UB for Illinois) inspired by Cahokia's Monks Mound?

You're 100% right on!

Right again! It's a palace replacement.
