City State Diplomacy Mod (Updated)

I read this topic more carefully and removed CvGameCore_Expansion2.dll from the CSD folder, Gazebo already wrote that this can cause a problem with the Great diplomat. I think when the new game is a problem with the diplomat will disappear.

My connection procedure that I use now:
1) City-State Diplomacy Mod (CSD) for Brave New World (v 25) - without DLL
2) Civ IV Diplomatic Features (v 10) - without DLL
3) DLL - Various Mod Components (v 68) - include combined DLL
4) Diplomacy - City States (v 4) - connects modification
5) Diplomacy - CivIV Features (v 1) - connects modification
*If the problem appears again, I'll write in this thread further.
The problem with the great diplomat appeared again... In a file in GameData DiplomacyCityStates.xml I added
<GreatPersons>
<Row>
<Type>GREATPERSON_DIPLOMAT</Type>
<Class>UNITCLASS_GREAT_DIPLOMAT</Class>
<Specialist>SPECIALIST_CIVIL_SERVANT</Specialist>
</Row>
</GreatPersons>
Three test games showed that the problem is not observed.

Hi Gazebo ! If you are planing to realase a new version of the CSD Mod i have some ideas for you. Military city states grant also more exp to new units when you are allies/friends because know their bonus is just to weak. Religious give prophets 1 more faith spread and make great prophet improvment give 1-2 more faith. Culture based city states give also % to great writer,artist or musician. Also in the World Congres to have resolutions that make great works give +1 more culture and to make somehow natural wonders realy important when you go for a culture based victory. They should provide a hell more tourism because having something like that in the real world makes the tourism in some countries. :D I hope you liked the ideas

Would be fun if "decolonization" allow you to actually strip a Civ off a captured CS. ("Liz, give up HK, now!"). :D

Also, it's awkard having to propose Cold War. IMHO it should activate after some events, for example Freedom was replaced by Autocracy as World Ideology but was reinstated again. Ideological conflict begins and the world enters Cold War.

I see it more as proposing an act that, through minutia, causes a cold war; IE. a no-fly zone over Libya IRL is a defacto war in the middle east with the US as an aggressor, but the game would just deal with this by saying X declared war on Y.

Currently I can't use this mod because I don't have paper. This seems to be such a central resource that you simply can forget all diplomacy without it.
I tried to find out what could be a solution but searching for paper in a 116 pages thread is pointless.
Is there a documentation? Where ? If there is none, I propose to start a wiki

The civilopedia has information on all of this.

"Scholars in Residence: Civilizations research a technology 20% more quickly if it has been discovered by at least one other Civilization. This value is increased by an additional 5% for every City-State ally the Civilization currently maintains."

Hi Gazebo! I have a question. If a technology is never discovered by other civilization, do you lose the bonus completely or do you at least have the 5% benefit from city state allies?

Only counts if there's already a bonus.

Perhaps increase or change the bonus given for spreading a religion to a CS: the bonus religion yield you get hardly compensates the spent religion on missionaries.

And is it possible to have military CS give you oboslete unique units? I do like free units but the costs to upgrade oboslete unique units is somewhat unwanted at times.

I'm paying my first game with CSD (along with CBP) and just received a sudden flood of omnibus offers from the AI to make a research agreement (which I can't afford, have open bordes, a defensive pact, and (I think) something unspecified called a "trade agreement."

Where can I learn about what's going on? I can't find it in the description at the top, or via Google.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I started gifting them and that is helping quite a bit.

Slightly off topic, but I've always played on a normal sized map. I wanted to try the mediterranean map that came with some DLC and it is 'large'

Thus far I am hating how big everything is. I'm so far away from other cities I cannot setup trade routes. I've got enough room for probably 10 full sized cities easily before I encounter another player. It takes forever for me to move around. I just feel like there is no conflict and im stitting around building. Hell, nearly in the middle ages.

What do you guys think about this?

Why don't you increase the number of civs? With the Really Advanced Start mod you can make even Huge maps very crowded. I personally play on huge maps exclusively.

Hiya Gazebo. Sounds like Firaxis liked your City State Diplomacy Mod so much, that they put it into Civ6 (or something like it ;) ).

The official recommended 10/20 on Large is just not a good idea, not sure Firaxis' thinking on that. I do 14/28 recently and am not sure if even that's crowded enough tbh.

How so?

Well, according to Quill 18, increasing your standing with City States will now require you to send Envoys to them, & you park the envoys in those City States. The more Envoys you commit to them, the better your standing (& greater the bonus they give you). Sound familiar? ;)

Interesting. Are they physical (on the map) units, or a UI interface like spies? I expect royalties for my ingenious and perfect mod being implemented. :)
