Our World: Civilizations of the Modern Age Design Discussion

Well, it wasn't even possible to use on TSL maps until recently. Until I, at JFD's request, added coordinates to them. Which means that now they probably will be used a lot more for TSL. It isn't a huge deal, as the mod's made very modularly, but something to think about I suppose.

I've added reins and stuff, so I'll post the (I think) finished version of Hoxha soonish.

Leaderscreen is great - only possible issue is that the horse seems rather small in relation to hoxha, but maybe he was just a very large guy - I don't know much about him

Also re Iran I agree with teh Doc that it seems odd that Irans UA is already a reformation belief.

I just researched some places that we can replace them with. The three Turkmen CSs are Gonur, Gurganj, and Namagza-Tepe. The first two are Militaristic and the last one is Cultural. I suggest replacing the militaristic ones with Bakhchysarai (capital of the Crimean Khanate) and Apache or Seminole (I can't find any settlement names). The cultural one could be replaced with Jericho. Some of them are still kind of close to other civs (Apache with Shoshone and Jericho with Israel if you're playing with them) but there's only so much space and so much time until I get tired of looking.

It's honestly more of a pony in the original image. I left the proportion pretty much unchanged. :p I might embiggen the pony a bit though. In fact, I'll do that before I upload the finished version.

I don't actually mind that it's already a reformation belief. It basically either gives you a free reformation belief if you don't go piety, and if you do go piety (which lets be honest, you do) you basically get two. And if you do grab Religious Fervor anyway, then lets be honest, you're kind of doing it wrong.

So, to announce my return:

---

Iran (Ruhollah Khomeini)
Start Bias: Desert
Capital: :c5capital: Tehran
UA: Three Pillars
Purchasing Military Units with :c5faith: Faith grants a flat boost of :c5culture: Culture equal to the amount of :c5faith: Faith expended. Purchasing Military Units with :c5gold: Gold increases the amount of :c5faith: Faith generated in the :c5capital: Capital by +1.
UU: Basiji (replaces Infantry)
Starts with additional Experience when purchased with :c5faith: Faith equal to the amount of :c5faith: Faith per turn generated in the :c5capital: Capital. When in foreign territory, generates :c5culture: Culture per kill; when in Iranian territory, generates :c5faith: Faith per kill.
UB: Komiteh (replaces Police Station)
Standard Police Station benefits. Generates +1 :c5faith: Faith for every 3 :c5angry: Unhappiness in the City in which it is built. After selecting your first Level 3 Ideological Tenet, generates +1 :c5culture: Culture per Ideological Tenet unlocked.

Hopefully this is up to snuff. =]

I'm not going to be changing the Iran design as dramatically. While part of it is a reformation belief, it's not the only part of the UA - the faith purchase discount is there as well. This is a late game faith purchase civ. The Bonyad will get you lots of faith, and you can dump it on Great People (which you will have access to at that point), leftover religious buildings, or units. You don't necessarily need to go Piety with that UA, and if you do you essentially get an extra reformation which is powerful on its own. Thanks to everyone for your ideas, though.

Scapegrace, in that design, would Iran have to get the prerequisite belief to be able to buy military units or are your thoughts that they should be able to do that automatically?

I imagined that they would be able to purchase pre-Industrial units with faith, otherwise it's a bit . =]

Thanks! I tried to make it synergistic and reflect Revolutionary Iran through playstyle as well, and it's also why I went for Basiji - they were technically subordinate to the Revolutionary Guards, but Revolutionary Guards is such a pathetically generic term. They were also more of a volunteer movement, which I can respect, though I despise the fact that they were used as attack dogs against socialist groups in the aftermath of the Islamic Revolution.

Yeah, I would agree with this. And Scapegrace's design doesn't really change the fact that it steals a belief, it just makes it steal Holy Warriors instead of Religious Fervor.

I'm still kinda sad that we're not gonna use those guys who for some reason dress like Roman Legions...

Eli wanted me to remake this one, so here it is

It's Kosovo, using a one-headed version of the Albanian Eagle (stylised)

Also, which civ is this? It kinda reminds me of Rohan from LOTR. :)

I don't know what's LOTR, but I do know someone made those...

I could swear I thought about it a minute before I posted... :mischief:
Anyway, is there any chance for a WWII eastern front scenario? Seeing you and JFD are releasing give from this particular.... Area and time.
