MOD Won't initialize

I am new to adding mods to my pc for CIV 5.I can get as far as getting the mod then it will download ,but it won't initialize and doesn't show up for me to choose it in the game .Any advise on how or why it is not initializing ?

You need to subscribe to them via your Steam account, and then activate them in the start menu.

Try this:

Make sure not to be logged into your Steam account.
Start your game.
Go to mod menu.
Press the get mod button.
Then press the subscribe button for each mod you want.
It might take some time before it appears downloading and installing on the mod menu.

i got some mods that started bugging after some time, then you can not activate them in game eventhough you see them and they are already downloaded.

to solve the issue i had to unsubscribe to the mod on steam, delete everything concerning that mod in the MOD folder, then subscribe again on steam to download it back.
