Looking for small maps

I'm looking for some small maps, not necessarily
"Small" as the game defines it, but less than
"Medium". I've downloaded a whole bunch of
maps, and most of them are really, really big.
I'd like to try smaller maps for a change of pace.

Any suggestions?

You can make your own by chosing Customize World when you start the game, and then press Custom. Here you can specify your desired size. This is still a random map though.

The minimum size map is 1000. I have played many at 25x40. You will get very mountanous and ugly terrain. If you want a different challenge, try it. Is there some way to get more benign terrain on a random mini-map?

I noticed that in general, small maps have many more mountains (or maybe it is the same number of mountains, just less of everything else) than the other sizes. I think that it is more than coincidence.

There are other third-party map generators; I think Mercator made a good one a while back. Check the downloads section both here and at Apolyton.Net.
