Dear Blue Brothers,
This is gave and terrible news indeed. We wish it were unexpected.
The
"clear a coastal city of units, then invade" scenario you outlined is, of course, very worrisome and all too real. Although nukes only make that tactic easier... Saber could do the same thing with enough of their bombers. When we were under immediate threat of this tactic, we began disbanding coastal cities that were within reach of Saber's transports. A painful defensive move, to be sure, but better than the alternative.
We don't know if you're already contemplating such a move - but we thought we'd share how we handled the threat, just in case. We disbanded threatened coastal cities and built barricades like crazy to isolate potential landing zones. Saber mostly neutralized the barricade strategy by turning every tile on our continent into rubble... but the city disbanding (apparently) helped deter them from making an actual invasion.
We wish we had a more palatable suggestion for dealing with the threat.
Also, more good news (and we can't recall if we've shared this info with you previously or not) - but you should know that Saber has at least one Marine
army on their transports, so be prepared for that.
Is it even feasible for one of us to get the UN in time to matter?
if only we had some meaningful construction capabilities left so that we could help fight back! If YOU have any brilliant ideas, please don't hesitate to suggest them.
These are desperate times - we shouldn't overlook any radical idea.
