--Into--

Set in the year of 1499, just before dawn on the sixteenth century. Rome, the allmighty superpower of the world which dictated to her enemies and allies at will, collapsed in upon itself in 1494 AD, a full half-eon later than was expected. As nations struggle to cope not only with their own populace, but with one another as well, we find ourselves stepping into a diffrent world--the world of Pax Romanae.

--Rules--

Fill out the form for your nation. I will decide all battles and update the map every 2-4 days (4 days will be a rare exception however, I promse). You all know the drill for a story NES. However, there will be a little bit more structure so that the game manages itself a tiny bit more.

--Economy--
Everyone recieves 100 percent of their economy to spend (well, obviously :)). This can be spent on either Tech. Expenditures, Economy Expenditures, or Military expenditures. If you invest 100 points (more on this later) in any one criteria over the course of time, you will advance on level in the proper field. However, if you have a high evonomy, you get more bang for your buck--For a prosperous economy, you will recieve 11 points for every 10% you invest, and for a booming economy, 13. However, economies are unpredictable and fluxuate. You might not always get the investment you have made back, and your economy is liable to dropping, falling into stagnance (10%=10 points), recession (10%=9 points), or worse, depression (10%=7 points). Standard exchange is 10% for 10 points.

For economies, the levels are, from lowest to highest:
depression
recession
stagnant
prosperous
booming

--Military--
Every nation has a navy and a military, whose efficiency are subject to the technology avaliable to them. Each nation controls an army and a navy, however, eventually flight technology will become avaliabe. Nations will have to build their airforce from the ground up. As stated, the armed forces branch of a nation must recieve 100 points before it can upgrade.

The order of size for armies and navies are, from lowest to highest:

None
Tiny
Small
Medium
Large
Gigantic

--Technology--
There are several diffrent technological levels. Most nations will start off in the Middle Ages, however some will start off in the Iron Age, and others in the Renaissance Ages. As stated, the technological branch of a nation must recieve 100 points before it can upgrade. All armed forces are immediately upgraded.

The order of technology is, from lowest to highest:

Iron Age
Middle Ages
Renaissance Ages
Gunpowder Age
Colonial Age
Imperial Age
Industrial Age
Modern Age

Timeline and Map

1492 - Gallic-Iberian guerrilas capture Lugudnum and parades are held to celebrate victory. This marks the third major city to be liberated by the Gallic-Iberian guerillas, including Marsiglia and Madrid. Germania Minor petitions for independence in Amsterdam. Greater Celtia invades and conquers Roman territories in Great Britain. Previously persecuted Magyars flock to the lands of the Danube.

1493 - Polish citizens stage uprising in Warsaw with red banners stolen from the Roman military bases in the city of Warsaw. Marked in valuable black squid ink, they are hoisted above the paraders proclaiming "Freedom!" in Polish. Rome orders General Hadrian's Magyar division to Warsaw to crush the rebellion. Gotland invades Rome and picks up the Lithuanian and Latvian holdings of the rotting empire. Napoli is set on fire by Gallic-Iberian guerillas . Roman forces surrender the city and 20,000 prisoners are taken hostage.

1494 - General Hadrian's forces defect in Pest on the East side of the Danube. Hadrian is hung in Florence Square on public display. Germania Minor's petition for independence is granted by the consul in Rome, and the Emperor is removed from power in a coup d'etat. Roman forces withdraw to German and Roman territories. Gaul-Iberia successfully claims independence, along with Podosia and Magyar.

1495 - Gaul-Iberia's "tea kettle" army of 100,000 farmes invades Greater Romana armed with pitchforks, torches, rifles and catapults. A Gallic-Iberian naval expedition of fishing boats is sent to Napoli in an effort to "liberate" the city. Podosia and Magyar declare war in dispute over Silesia.

1496 - Magyar is speedily defeated by the Podosian forces after military aid is recieved on the part of Podosia. Roman soldiers run into battle screaming for revenge to Hadrian. Unfortunately due to this distraction, Roman lands in Piedmont and Sicily are captured by Gallic-Iberian forces. Byzantium peacefully secedes from the Roman empire due to its detatchment from the subsequent independence of Magyar and Podosia. Carthage declares war on Byzantium in the hopes of retaking Cuprus and Crete.

1497 - The Peace of Marsiglia is signed by Romana and Gaul-Iberia surrendering Southern Italy, Sicily, Corsica, Sardinia, and Piedmont to the Gallic-Iberian "tea kettle" army. Riots spring up in Brittania demanding independence from Greater Celtia. The Magyar-Podision war continues as Magyar loses Galicia and Venice to the forces of both armies. Persia attacks India in dispute over control of Pakistani land.

1498 - Japan attacks China across MAnchurian border and blitzes through Canton and Shanghai. Podosia and Rome make the peace of Wien with Magyar surrendering Silesia, Galicia, Venice and West Tyrol to Podosia and Rome. Rome lands on an undefended Indian Ocean island and uses it as a springboard against india. Greater Celtia establishes colonies in North America and Vietnam. Settles from Gaul-Iberia create "Tonawanda Valley," a semi-autonomous state in North America. Greater Romana begins colonization of Vietnam. Carthaginian forces crush in battle of the East Mediterranean by Byzantine navies.

1499 - Carthaginian envoys arrive in Constantinople to try and make peace between the Carthaginian and Byzantine empires. However, meanwhile, military action is seen on the part of Carthage against Egypt, as an amphibious landing opens the motuh of the nile to Carthage and closes much of Egypt's trade with the outside world. Celtia continues its expansion into Canada and Caul-Iberia continues the expansion of the Tonawanda valley province. Gotland and Podosia both expand Eastward into the great, barren lands of the East, in which virtually no population exsists. A botched attempt by the Carthaginians to colonize Cameroon results in hostility between colonizers of the Congo and the natives there.

Erik already took Gotland,I think...

Never mind...

To Erik: Gotland is dark grey.

To Jason: It works just like any other NES. Orders can be posted here or can be sent by PM to me, and I will decide the battles. Your tech, military size, and economy growth or lack thereof, however, are controlled by the point system.

To:Byzantium
From:Carthage

Let's end this pointless war about some unimportant islands (which aren't even on the map, lol).

Orders:-use our economic spending for building the first modern banks all over Carthage,to improve internal trade,to build better roads,to enlarge ports
-use our scientific spendings to build schools, libraries, universities,to decrease rate of analphabets and to research more modern weapons
-4/5 army invade Egypt;3/5 on our common border,1/5 make an amphibious landing in Alexandria after
-our navy has destroyed the Egyptian navy and used Greek Fire against their harbours and coastal defences
-rest of army remains basically in homeland, but
-some soldiers are sent along with settlers to modern Cameroon, which behave nicely towards the natives and convince them to let our settlers march as much east as possible;but tribes, who refuse to cooperate are exterminated (and I mean exterminated)
