Is it advisable to found more than one religion?

Having founded many religions, gives you a diplomatic head in the world. You choose which one you want to dominate and spread it.

In addition, religion spread goes passively, and you don't have to spread them in the first place. The OP question was if it is advisable to found more than one religion. So, spreading cost is irrelevant.

Again, about Nox Noctis, you are not required to build the shrine, but, having found the religion, you prevent others from building it. I sure do not want to have to invade a Civ with nox noctis built.

I do not understant how an increase to "adopt our religion" would occure when you are the one with the religions founded...

So, in my view of the subject, only Cons 1 and 2 exist.

My general opinion is that found CoE just so you can build the Nox is worth it. Few other wonders give such a powerful effect.

The value of founding a religion (That you don't use, or don't want to spread) is fairly minimal. Are the beakers worth it?

I think Sephi means you have to build adepts to spread your numerous religions, so that the shrine starts to give a bit of cash. And I must agree with him it is quite costly.

I always try to have a religion, but I find that founding multiple ones is quite a waste of beakers. Let the AI build the shrine in their cities (using THEIR specialist) and then blitz them gently to take that mana. My troops always need extra XP, anyway.
