Show me your orders/battle plans!

Kentharu had left because he was losing a war badly. NK stepped in and saved the Ottomans (only for them to fall apart later on).
Not my fault. It was all just horrible timing. The Ottomans would have held together if I'd been able to send orders... I was doing just fine with them, although I will again offer my congrats to NK for saving them from their predicament.

Silly Iggy, taking trips everywhere.
I only get to see my relatives once a year. Disadvantages of living where I do.

...and I had nothing to do with it? That makes me feel hurt. :(

What, the fact that you and Russia combined managed to finally persuade me to leave Constantinople? :p

No, my invasion of Iggy's Ottomans in 1751/2. Blaming it all on his vacation isn't getting the whole story.

That GoogleTalk conversation was interesting, though.

I was holding you at bay, and France was coming. You would have been destroyed if I had been able to continue sending orders. With what happened, I ended up with a bad peace treaty and no nation.

Then silver's nation fell apart too. It's just because no one can trust das' NPCing.

das NPCing someone said:
"Hello (slug/frog/worm/small garden animal), would you like to NPC (nation name)?"

(no response, creature wriggles slightly)

"Thanks! Now, what do you think (nation name) should spend its economy on this turn?"

(no response)

"Okay, nothing. Now, national defense..."

:joke:

Though the inconvenient fact that my vacations coincide with foreign invasions helps darken my view of NPCing as well.

Nope!

If it makes you feel better...

Spoiler RTOR13 Orders :
Orcadia: North King
Government: Tribal council
Age: Stone Age
Economy: Stable
Culture: Nonexistent
Education: Moronic
Army: none
Navy: tiny Stone Age

Orders (domestic (sorta)):

Increase Army *2

Onto actual moving orders:

Firstly and most importantly. On a single ship, send the eldest daughter and second oldest son along with a good guard to Norway. They will continue the dynasty if we (most likely) loose everything. Make sure they make it. They are good people. :p

Secondly, have our druid people types study mushrooms and figure out which ones give a boost of energy to the users and make them ignore pain. No, I am not kidding. Find magic mushrooms so our troops can withstand much more than they would normally. Test them on a few willing volunteers. Actually, even one that has mild lightheaded causing effects would do well due to the placebo effect.

Grow the mushrooms (that work) in copious quantities and stock them to feed our troops.

Onto Battle Orders:

This is the map

Send a small force of a few ships, led by the eldest son of the king on a daring raid up the River Thames. They are to burn Londinium to the ground. Have them charge around wildly burning stuff (they have the magic mushrooms helping them go crazy now), and their leader (the king’s eldest) is to proclaim to the shocked populace:

“People of Londinium! Know that your leaders have committed great sins! For what but grave sins would cause the gods to send a force like us upon you! Lay down your arms and refuse your king, for he has angered the gods!”

Then get out of there as fast as possible. Minor annoyances like guards shooting at them with arrows are not likely to do much since their city is burning and they are a bit distracted. ;)

Second Prong: A small force of a few ships, these are to raid the Eastern British coasts and disrupt supply lines heading north. But do NOT, under any circumstances, kill of peasants like crazy, because we don’t want to infuriate them.

Third and Main Prong:

Land a force on the Orcadian coast, right where they are waiting for us. They will probably either be loading their ships in preparation for invading our isles, or they will be waiting for us. Either way, do the same thing.

Send a few envoys insulting the general commanding those forces. Prod him in any and every way, make him blinded by fury.

Land a force 2 days march from their army. Build a camp, make it obvious, and make it look like we intend to hunker down and wait for their attack. This will take the first day it takes them to march.

The second day they are marching at us, almost all of our forces slip out of the fortress, leaving it all but undefended, only a few men are to remain, enough to keep the campfires going and appear as though they were sentries.

The rest of the forces are to lie in wait in nearby woods. A few more envoys are to be sent at the general, further insulting him and calling him a coward that he would not attack our forces as they are massed.

When he arrives, he will see exactly what he expects to see. A fortress which appears to be getting ready for defense against a great attack. He will order his men to attack, because he wants the head of those who dared insult him, who dared call him a coward. While they attack, our troops are to eat the mushrooms/drugs, and are to charge out of the woods screaming, “The gods protect us!”. After a few are struck through with arrows and still charge (if feebly), the enemies too might begin to fear them. We will surround them and attack them while their back is turned, and crush them utterly. Take prisoners, yes, and release them after the battle is done so that they may see we fight a just war. Hold their king for ransom.

Probably didn't, did it? :(

How about these, from about two years ago?

Spoiler reaaaaaaaaaally old orders :
Orders:

Send an economy’s worth in gold to the nations that helped (besides Suparaka, obviously, since they are receiving land). (OOC: I think it was two, but if not, then keep the gold. :p )

Send emissaries to Persia through Aryan land as treaty allows. Give them a small escort of 25 men, but make sure they realize that it is merely defensive in nature.

Give the land to Suparaka as shown in the map in my post above.

Reoccupy the land that the Aryans are retreating from with 500 men.
Guard the Burmese frontier with 200.
Keep the other 200 in reserve.

Refound city of Delhi, have scholars see if any of the great documents of their culture can be recovered. If so, bring them back to Calicut.

Found the city of Karachi on the mouth of the Indus.

Begin constructing fortifications on the Aryan frontier... Make sure they know it is defensive in nature.

Increase economy (due to the reunification of Northern India)

I suppose thats better, but why do you have really old orders?

Almost every one of my orders since I started using this computer are saved to disk. :)

What, spam a thread with stories?

Spoiler Gujarat stories from almost a year and a half ago when I was a terrible writer... :
The tale of the Gujarati people, passed down by word of mouth.

Saga the First
Many Years ago, the Gujarati people lived in the East, far to the East. They lived peacefully in a large village, gathering their crops every year, and living off the bountiful land the gods had given them. Now the Gujarati people were wise and just, and they had been granted this land by the gods, given a mandate not to overuse it, but to take that which they needed from the land.

Now, most respected this mandate, and most let the Gujaratis live in peace. But one people, the Bhojas, did not respect the mandate given by the gods. They claimed they had a divine mandate of their own, to unite the world under their corrupt rule. And so they came to target the peaceful Gujarati, and launched a first raid, which, disorganized as it was, burned many of the outlying farms of the Gujarati, perpetrating horrors that which Gujarat had never seen the likes of which before. But they eventually withdrew.

Chandragupta, a ruler chosen by his people for his wisdom and justice, saw that the Bhojas would attack his people again, after their initial strike. And so he called to his people to gather their spears, gather their shields, and prepare. Even though his call had not included the women and children of Gujarat, they came, too. He drew them up into a line, and he called to them to plant the back of their spears in the ground, and keep the points in the air.

And so they waited, a solid phalanx of people, determined to maintain their homeland. The Bhojas came, a mass of men, roaring viciously, hefting clubs and strutting as if they owned the land. They saw the outnumbered people of Gujarat, and gave a great shout, charging forth.

Chandragupta called to his people to hold on, for they could not let their enemies through.

And the clash came, terrifically loud, the massive horde of Bhojas plowing forth into the ordered line of the Gujaratis. They fought for a day and a night, the Gujaratis firm, the Bhojas drawing back and striking repeatedly. Finally, after many skirmishes, the Gujarati line broke, and they fled.

The Bhojas thought the battle won, and they charged forth, a screaming mass intent on plunder. But Chandragupta was clever, and he had indeed planned this occurrence. At his shout, the archers of Gujarat, hidden in the tall grasses around the city, stood. As one, they drew arrows and fitted their nocks to bowstring. As one, they drew back the arrows. And Chandragupta told them to fire when they could see the whites of the eyes of the enemies.

The Bhojas came in a roaring mass, still vastly outnumbering the valiant Gujaratis. And when they were no more than twenty feet from the line of archers, Chandragupta shouted at them to fire. And they loosed a volley of arrows into their enemies, and a whole rank fell to the Earth. The Gujaratis had multiple lines of bowmen ready, and another loosed their volley just as the Bhojas recovered from the first. As they recovered from the second, a third volley struck the, and Chandragupta shouted to his clubmen to charge.

And the Bhojas did break, and they streamed back to their own villages, their army in disarray, and their morale broken.

Saga the Second
The day had been won, but the wise and just Chandragupta knew that the Bhojas would be back. And he knew they were far more numerous than his people. And thus, he told his people to pack all their belongings they could carry and leave. And they knew he was wise and just, and did as he told them, and they trekked west.

The Bhojas indeed came the next morning, but they found nothing, only a deserted city, much of it burned to ashes, and they found nothing to plunder. Nothing...

The Gujaratis continued west, and they wandered for seven years, looking merely for a land where they could live in peace, and where all would be in harmony. They wandered, further and further west they did wander, and did not find a fertile place to settle.

And then, in the night, the great protector god, Vishnu, came to Chandragupta in his sleep, and proclaimed to him that when he found a completely white tiger lying on a boulder that that area would be fertile and would be the place where the Gujaratis could settle. And so they wandered for seven more days and found a tiger lying on a boulder, all white, not even a single stripe. And he told his people that they ought to build here. But first they offered thanks to Vishnu, in what little ways mere mortals can. They brought a recently killed deer from their stockpiles and lay it in front of the tiger, and the tiger picked it up in its mouth and sauntered away, never to be seen again.

And the land was bountiful, and the people were happy and rich. And Gujarat was the greatest city known to man. But alas, all good things come to an end. The great, revered and wise king, Chandragupta, died. And the people of Gujarat were stunned, for they had not anticipated this.

After this the town leaders initiated a heated discussion. Who should lead the nation? And then, one of the high priests reminded them that sons take after fathers, and thus, those who were wise and brave will have children both wise and brave. And so they chose Chandragupta’s son, Ashoka Chandragupta. And the Chandragupta dynasty reigns to this day.

Me, hide orders from you guys?

Spoiler Order set that never got used and was the cause of me quitting FK, so that Stormy took over and became famous taking over the world with my unique unit, and still no one gives me credit. Alas. :
Orders–1861

Domestics

Federated Kingdoms (Great Britain, Netherlands, Denmark-Norway, Hudsonia, Carolina)
Capital: London
Ruler: ?/North King
Government: Parliamentary Monarchy
Centralization: Confederation
Tech. Level: Middle Industrial Age
Army (Training): 40 divisions (Elite), 5 secret UUs
Navy (Training): 70 squadrons (Professional)
Economy: Rich (+3)
Leadership (Military/Civilian): Better/Good
Infrastructure: Very Efficient
Education: Enlightenment
Culture: Patriotic
Confidence: Admiring
Projects:
Nation Background: The Federated Kingdoms, formed as a bulwark against France and Sweden, have by now evolved into a first rate great power, an empire spanning the globe. But there are many internal weaknesses in it, while from the outside, enemies new and old threaten.

Dispositions
10 divisions and 25 squadrons protect Europe.
5 divisions and 15 squadrons in North America.
5 divisions and 10 squadrons in South America.
10 divisions and 10 squadrons in India.
5 divisions and 4 squadrons in Indonesia.
5 divisions and 5 squadrons in Africa.

Infiltration in:
The French Army in mainland France.
French Rebels in North America.
Junkers.
The Indian Resistance movement.
Javan Rebels.

Points:

1 point to Persia; this is to be shipped through the lease port.
2 points to Umbertian Italy; this is to be gotten to them by a convoy of unmarked vessels escorted by three squadrons of unmarked warships taken from the European fleet of 25 squadrons, specially repainted for this job.
2 points to the Holy Roman Empire; to be given escort by one squadron and one division to them via the North Sea.

13 points for ourselves

5 points into military; primarily raise “sepoy” troops. While these may be theoretically less loyal to the Europeans, in real life, they were quite loyal to the British unless they made a colossal blunder (biting off pig fat dipped leather cartridges introduced to the Indian armies, for example), and quite disciplined. Thusly, make sure they are not offended in any way in their native customs and traditions, though making sure they are up to disciplinary standards.
1 point for five more UUs.

2 points into army training; focus specifically on making our troops very proficient at night fighting. Since I doubt anyone else is doing this, we will have the edge about half the time against most other enemies.
1 point into naval training, focusing on night fighting.

2 points into confidence.

1 point into culture.

2 points are used to supply the Turkmenistan adventures.

Some other things to do

Project:

The Queene’s Armee: +10 divisions, +2 army training

Work on a bill outlawing the slave trade in all of the Federated Kingdoms. Try to garner it support. While it will not exactly be popular in Carolina, it doesn’t exactly ban slavery either. It only bans the enslavement of free people in African areas.

Military Orders

Turkmenistan

Neutral intelligence agencies have indicated a large probability of Turkmenistan continuing the attack on Persia, or attacking the Federated Kingdoms directly; relative balance of power would rule out them attempting the latter course of action.

Thus, the most likely course of action (barring them actually holding to the peace treaty, which, given their current leadership, is unlikely), is that they will continue the attack on Persia while attempting to create something of an uprising in India to prevent the Federated Kingdoms from aiding the Persian forces.

Battle Plans:
http://img358.imageshack.us/my.php?image=battleplans9po.png

Thus, certain measures are necessary to counteract the potential Muslim threat. No direct actions against Muslims will be taken in India; as that generally would just make it worse. Instead, with one of the new unique unit brigades, infiltrate and stir up internal rivalries between the dissident Muslim groups; they will soon turn on one another and fight each other; we will let them. If they still manage to put up an uprising, 5 of our garrison divisions will destroy them.

Another UU brigade will infiltrate the Turkmeni army.

Meanwhile, twenty five new sepoy divisions will be being recruited around India. They will be employed as soon as possible.

The Turkmeni will be striking towards the Persian lines (or not). If they are, the Persians are to take up defensive positions as the map indicates, and they will destroy any Turkmeni attacks with “Allah’s Needles” which should scythe down the enemy cavalry; meanwhile, their entrenched European-style infantry can gun down the advancing cavalry fairly easily. Note that the plan has somewhat been amended, the lines of the Persians are further forward then that shown on the map, and there is also a force guarding Kalat.

If the Turkmeni do not strike, the Persians shall wait until British sepoys move into place.

British Dispositions
One of the garrison divisions from India will be moved to help the Persians defend the lease port.
Ten Sepoy divisions on the North West (Afghani) frontier.
Fifteen Sepoys on the Baluchi frontier.
Iranian Dispositions
Divided into four groups defending the cities as shown; the capital one should be slightly stronger.

Spring
As the Turkmenis strike into Persia, they encounter little resistance at first. Then they smash into the Persian lines, which stop them short with shrapnel fire.

The British divisions, well trained (especially in night fighting), attack suddenly. Ten divisions sweep into Afghanistan; they take the Khyber Pass, where their superior firepower makes the fighting go easily enough. To guard their flanks in the mountains, the Federated Kingdoms promise the Afghanis the best of both worlds if they help us win–we will grant them autonomy within the Empire, but give them the protection of the Federate troops. This drive will smash straight through defensive positions, and as smoothly as possible, take the trade center.

Fifteen more sepoys sweep into Baluchistan. We will take Karachi (the port) by a combined arms force of naval bombardment and land attack, with five divisions. Ten more will sweep up, around the Hindu Kush and up onto the Iranian Plateau, fortifying that city in order to prepare for attack.

A large (10 division) Persian force strikes along the Caspian to create a salient from which to outflank the main Turkmeni thrust into Persia. This is not on the map; blame Thlayli for changing the plan.

Summer

In the heat of Summer, Turkmen forces will be forced to transfer fronts, they will have to march over hundreds of miles of desert in order to protect their homeland. There they will ram right into British divisions, who have been well supplied (with two economy points; that’s the normal income of a nation, mind you) with water, well rested after their strikes, and sitting right on the Turkmen lines of communications. Well, Western colonial forces usually won against far worse odds.

Meanwhile, in the south, the five divisions will encircle and destroy any Turkmeni attack, and thus advance to link up with Persian forces, two divisions will be directed to the south to create a new pocket, three more will form a united front with the Persians in the north.

Meanwhile, Persian forces complete their envelopment of the main Turkmeni lines.

Autumn

The harvests come in, and the British and Persians, who have been playing on the defensive all through summer, are well rested, and now there should be no supply difficulties as far as food goes.

Our UU in the Turkmeni army will poison wells on their side of the lines. Depriving them of their main resource for survival will make them much easier to defeat.

Meanwhile, Persian and British forces will crush the Turkmen armies in the pocket, if there are any left.

Winter

Persian forces, aided by British forces, advance in tandem, destroying the weakened Turkmeni positions in Persia and bringing the battle to their nation.

Things to keep in mind, generally speaking

Use a flexible formation when advancing through the Turkmen areas; something like a flowing column that surrounds its own baggage train. They will guard their supplies inherently, it will be easy to march with, it can adapt to the terrain, and it can absorb an attack from any side and then react.

Also note that the more westernized and disciplined forces of the Persians and especially the British, should have no time routing the Turkmen in battle. The problem for Westerners usually wasn’t the battles in colonial warfare, it was pinning them down in battle. As silver is a madman, and as his nation is full of psycho jihadists, they won’t have any problem with attacking us.

Intelligence operatives (they have to be good for something. Honestly, they’re my UU) will attempt to secure the piece of the Koran that them Turks are digging up. If they cannot, then create a political “accident” by destroying it in a manner which incriminates the Turkmeni ruler in the thing. If we do secure it, ship it to the Persians covertly.

Other military operations

Other UU deployments: Keep one in London as counterintelligence. Ferret out spies and traitors. Another should infiltrate Gaelic rebellious groups; this should be easy enough (as we’re interrelated) that we can start operating this turn. Sabotage their communications and supplies.

What to do in case of rebellion: Try not to let them run wild; but don’t repress the people, either. Have the army on its off days improve the public works and stuff of dissenting territories to convince them that they really wouldn’t be well off under other peoples rule. If any rebellions do pop up, the one extra Intelligence brigade I recruited this turn should immediately begin infiltrating them (shouldn’t be too hard, since they have to be recruiting if they’re going for a rebellion).

If any rebels threaten Britain itself or any of the kingdoms, immediately raise militia and respond with regular troops as well appropriately.

French Latin America: conehead and I agreed on the plan for this one. A British squadron from the South American fleet will discretely escort a single merchantmen-type ship up north, into the Pacific coast of California, where they will quickly dart out of the way back south. The merchantmen will continue onward, avoiding French patrols by simply running it aground on the shore in a predetermined location (contact the Californian rebels to set up the exact area). It will be full of gunpowder, and loaded with a skeleton crew who will join the Californians to help with the demolitions (all volunteers). Personally, I think this is an effective way of avoiding French patrols; but in case we actually do encounter one, have the gunpowder covered in something like week old potatoes. That will not be something they want to inspect in mass.

Mexico: Inform the Mexican rebels it is time to move. They should fight a guerilla war, mainly, using their knowledge of the countryside to avoid and harass French troops, all while garnering support from the people. The Yucatan rebels should do the same.

France: Also, have our intelligence brigade in French military groups disrupt communications there, in a discrete manner, of course, and preventing an effective response this year to the “Mexican situation”.

Colonial Operations:

We have laid official claim to the arctic islands, and move in one division from the American garrison to effectively claim them. That is, all that white area. While one division is very little to cover it all with; we won’t be encountering much resistance. The virgin lands there meanwhile will be something of an attraction for immigration.

Also, send one squadron from the South American fleet to claim the South Georgian islands (all the little white ones close to the Falklands, above Antarctica). Also, explore further south. Try to find the mythical continent of ice. If we find it, claim it.

One squadron and two divisions from Indonesia should claim the port of Newtown (OTL Darwin) in Australia. This is in a relatively nice area as far as Australia goes, thus it is a good base for further expansion.

Also, since this was ignored the last time I ordered it, attempt to expand from our colony in Guinea-Bissau (the one around Liberia) inland. This is a rich, rainy area, and so it should be easier to find settlers for it than other areas. Avoid conflict with the French or Tulukor.
