I'd like to know what all the numbers in the demographics screen mean, since this game doesn't give a lot of info on how you compare to the other nations. Here's what's available:
population:based on the population of your cities, however it's weighted towards big cities. One big city is worth a lot more tn several small cities. I'm not sure how it's calculated exactly.
crop yield:The sum of all food production in your empire (not food surplus)
production:The sum of how much each of your cities is currently producing
gnp:total income (NOT profit. You can be breaking even or even losing money, but still have a large gnp. Says nothing about research or culture)
land:Number of land tiles within your borders times 10,000.
soldiers:Based on army strength. Only military units add to this, and more advanced units count for more. It's Possible to have 0 soldiers.
approval: based on happiness, not sure how it's calculated
literacy: based on the ratio of science to population, but again i'm not sure how it's calculated.
