Ages' Beginnings - An Arrow/Immaculate Reboot

Sorry: stats are NOT done.

That said the new UU list is up (see first page). Sorry to those of you who didn't get their suggestions.

And oh- don't worry little birds- you think i wouldn't give you a little something else extra? (*) Here are the 'trade regions' and the amount of tax being generated from trade flowing through them on turn 1:

Trade Regions:

Pearls-Skagar 80
Iraaskal-Skagar 77
Squalls-Spotted Sea 66
Terrin Bay 88
Spotted-Itshin 80
Sea of Whispers 89
Shipwreck Sea 55
Casmin-Zegat 107
Casmin-Plodon 82
Tevmas-Stanchion 72
Sea of Cinders 58
Sami-Sorrow 65
Lake Virid 67
Richelde Lake 60
Northern Roadways 39
South-Eastern Roadways 52
South-Western Roadways 47

(*) (this is a Daniel Tosh reference)

Is this all internal trade? or does it include trade with outside regions?

Its tolls from trade passing through these areas.

I believe once we get our stats, your trade income will be a percentage of the trade region values near your kingdom. So you might control 20% of one region, 10% of another, 33% of a third, etc. - so increasing your trade income is a combination of making your kingdom stronger within trade regions and increasing the overall value of those regions.

And, of course, these regions are connected to one another so a war in one area that disrupts trade could increase the value of an adjacent region when goods move in other directions.

Some stats are up.

Stats are now up for all player houses.

NPC stats will be up within a few days.

I want to apologize for how long things took. The 'black-box' system is meant to model a number of variables and to make it easy to moderate as we go forward. This level of complexity and automation took longer than i expected, but hopefully, having invested in the system on the front-end, it will serve us well going forward.

Now that the stats are up though, please feel free to peruse them and see if they make sense to you. If i forgot something or if the stats somehow seem unbalanced, please say so; its not impossible that i have overlooked something.

Lastly, I guess Arrow Gamer will soon be posting a deadline for orders.

Query :
What is Aernolea ? Is this the Kingdom of Arlen ?

A description goes thus :
OOC: The Kingdom of Arlen is the red in the east, at the top of the map. The United Republics are in the west, at the bottom of the map, and are brown. The Salt Kingdom is in the north, on the bottom left of the map, and are red. The royal remnant is green and in the center-right of the map. Any questions can be answered.

Confused

The Archduke of Bogatstvo will issue messengers along with the merchant convoys to spread the good news of the great services that the merchants of Srabija will provide. Heed well as we supply, for any special trade deals deployed could enhance both our realms.

The Archduke meanwhile would like to make pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Malair to base witness to the Ebony Arrow. If Fruhorn Marshwell permits then Andreas Venetianer will make personnel convoy with his family to greet well with the Marshwell family in the pilgrim to witness the Ebony Arrow, as well as to discus merchant virtues, the holy commitment to our guard-ship between each other in times of chaos, how to exploit the chaos and a plot of blood linkage between us. Prince Faldur Marshwell may make good husband to Ivanka Venetianer when both come to age, which could place a blessing on both our houses. Hence a betrothal could be arrange during our meetings. Such blessing should be considered well.

We would also ask House Ashboar is they too could arrange a bethrohal between us, so we can link our blood through Bojan Vanetianer, second child to the heir of the Archduke, Duke Aron of Sunce. We can later on provide additional bethrohals with other families. We hope in the end that our trip to pay pilgrim to the Ebony Arrow, if permitted by Fruhorn Marshwell, will lead to multiple blessings that will benefit the wealth of our house, which in turn will aid well the Archduchy.

Another Work in Progress...

Name/Player Name: Kingdom of Aernolea/ Lord_Herobrine
Ruler/Family: Name of your current ruler and his immediate family.
Location:

Vassals: A list of the most prominent and powerful vassals your lord has. Should number approximately three, with a short description of each family. You can include other, minor vassals should you wish.
Kingdom Biography: Tell us about your history (try to weave it into the history of your neighbors if possible), your family’s internal organization and the culture of your dynasty. Perhaps tell us about the lands your dynasty rules and your relationship to its people.
Religion: Please feel free to develop your own religions but as much as possible, make it mesh with your neighbors to some degree; religions don’t develop completely independently of its surrounding; provide context for the beliefs of the faithful.
Anything else: feel free to develop whatever else you would like- a motto, a family tree, a logo, artwork- really anything.

I've now updated the OP to include stats for all the Royal houses. You'll also find outlines of the stats for the various Minor (vassal) houses.

Some of you have been interested in developing further unique units.

First generation unique units (those based on, for example, heavy infantry or light cavalry) cost 15-20kC to design. Second, and further, generation unique units (those based on, for example, horse archers, highlanders, xonorae archer initiates, eastern lance, cowl hammers, etc) would cost 25-30kC to design. Successive 'layers' of unique units are generally more powerful (without necessarily becoming more expensive to recruit and maintain) and can replace your previous units completely.

When designing a UU, please outline what 'innovations' allowed for the new sort of unit? Was it wide-scale adoption of a new type of armor, Specific religious training, etc?

If someone shares a unique unit with you, teaching you how to train and equip these units, it costs 12kC for first generation units and 20kC for second, and successive, generation units.

Some units are just not likely to be used by particular cultures. It is very unlikely that the southern realms would use slingers or galleys for example as they consider these primitive in comparison to the wide-scale use of the more 'advanced' cogs and crossbow. Others might have religious reasons for preferring one unit over another. The Ebonear will never use crossbow, not when they have their sacred bows available.

To the Sadly Misguided Lord of Tareen
From Lord Diomenes of Uradal, King of Aelrich

We are displeased to know that your house, so close to the capital city of the empire of Auronas, have declared yourself to be somehow free of imperial laws and duties owed to the throne of Auronas. Aside from this being treason, we would like to note that by the laws of feudalism this makes your rule over Tareen, which is granted only by the gracious will of the government of Auronas, illegal and unjust.

While we of House of Uradal is normally happy to await judgement by the government of Auronas to your nation... we find our close proximity to a rebel state with known history of religious fanaticism threatening.

As such, we of house of Uradal firmly suggest to Lord of Tareen to recant his independence and walk to the throne of Auronas and seek forgiveness from legitimate authority of Auronas. Failure to reply to his communique or refusal to accept our wise counsel will be considered a sign of animosity between our two nations and steps will be taken to protect our national borders.

Hi,
I'm currently a bit busy since I have my exams this week, but I'm very interested in this and was wondering whether or not I could join as the Salt kingdom perhaps after the first update?

Thanks

Amesjay,

Absolutely! You are more than welcome to come aboard.

The Independent Nobles Houses

Spoiler :

So here are some of my ideas for the minor houses without loyalty to the Royal Houses. I invite input from anyone regarding their make-up.

Iknitsh holds: North of Bangor Holds. Relatively undeveloped. Rabid.

Orus of the Sea (between Araskamemni and Rallus): traders on the skagar

Orus of the forest
(between Araskamemni and Rallus): inland of the mountain range. Once part of the greater house of orus- broke away due to increasing isolation of the western inland region

Payas: between Namidas and Araskamemni and Arthendal. Relatively powerful and and aggressive

Richelde: between Arthendal and Tareen: a pretty significant power broker in their own right. The duke has avoided swearing fealty to its larger neighbors by skillful negotiation and a strong and well-trained military.

Garrus: between Aeldrich and Tareen: an agricultural state with increasingly strong ties to the merchants of the united republics, their armies occasionally serve as mercenaries for those republics. Good relations with the Tareen.

Effdor: between arlen and Kaerderith: A buffer state intermittently maintained by Arlen. Very agricultural and otherwise similar to Arlen. Followers of the sundered knot, strongly anti-‘Cowl’.

Mittekrieger: Maybe Ailedhoo can post his submission?

Sauromayla: Southernmost (near Thomas and the United republics and Tareen) A no man’s land of swamp and brackish estuaries. Mostly independent because no one wants to fight these crazy swamp dwellers. They are highly militant with poor diplomatic skills and in a way sort of stuck in a previous century (or eoen). Through rapacious aggression, they’ve been able to claim some lands from the United Republics but that’s mostly because the merchant princes see no gains to be made from trying to fight them and stop their raids. Traditionally followers of the sunken court.

Mittekrieger: Maybe Ailedhoo can post his submission?

Your wish is my command. :)

Spoiler the Mittekrieger :
Princes of the Mittekrieger

A mercenary company that have managed to take hold of a principality

Spoiler Mitteland :

Realm governed by the High Prince Captain: Principality of Mitteland

Capital: Mitte (gold land on map)

High Prince Captain of the Mittekrieger: “One-Eyed” Flynn Volk (own provinces within the realms he controls being yellow and gold on map)

Vessels

Prince Mayor of Mitte: Leo von Mitte (administers gold city on Prince Captain’s behalf; govern when the Prince Captain is away on war)

Count of Rosaland: Ulrich von Brandt (pink)

Count of Ostenland: Mario Gorman(dark purple)

Prince Captain of Dunkelgrünland : Damir Bogdanovic (dark green)

Prince Captain of Unteregrenze: Fabian Sommer (orange)

Prince Ranger Captain of Weißehöhen: Leon Lukic (white)

Spoiler history :

To understand the Mittekrieger you must understand the Principelity of Mittleland and to understand Mittleland you must remember the importance of the High Company of the Mittekrieger. Above all you must note that House Venetianer originated from this realm, said to have left for desire of greater wealth.

First Mitteland; the counties were independence founded durning ages of raiding and subjected under the reins of many times of the now neiboures of Mittleland. Eventually a local legend that came to be the first Prince of Mitteland, Arya of House Suess, managed to ensure union of the counts and their independence from foreign force through aid of diplomacy and warfare. Arya I would be succeeded by his eldest son Felix I; he would become Prince about six years before the birth of who would be King Adam of Srabija. It was continues until the formation of the Republic of Bogatstvo resulted in a revolt in the city of Mitte that saw the last continues ruler from House Suess, Prince Okan, beheaded by his own guard and the realm bought under the first Grand Mayor of the Republic of Mitteland; Georg Sturm. Yet his successor came to be the last; Grand Mayor Felix Kaspar proclaimed himself Prince in his later years to ensure his rule would pass on to his family and his family alone; he succeeded in crushing objection, with aid of mercenary bands such as the then young Company of Mittekreiger with usage of the wealth from trade. He hence was taken by old age and replaced not by his son Andreas (who died in battle durning the rebellion) but by his grandson Jonas. 37 years before Henrik Dragic became Doge of Bogatstvo came forth the rise of the last Prince of Mitteland, Jaydon. Jaydon faced increased foreign aggression and turned to rely on merceneries in reaction to the tiredness of his levies and his distrust of his own marshal, Count Simon von Brandt of Rosaland. This came to a close relation to the mercenary company that be the Company of the Mittekrieger.

The High Company of the Mittekrieger was founded by an exile from Ravan, a skilled bowman by the name of Obrad Petrovic who was exiled his objection to the republican system; he would merge with his fellow exiled warriors with local Mitteland bands to forge the Mittekrieger, while assimilating to Mitteland culture. The company has centralised itself in Mitteland but had served outside, such (ironically for its founder) the Republic of Bogatsvo. When Prince Jaydon came to power he was greeted by an aged High Captain of the Mittekrieger, Gerhard Martz. Yet 29 years before Henrik Dragic’s appointment as Doge it came for Martz to pass on; his successor would be a man with little patience but great ambition; Michael Jollenbeck.

Know that at the time of Michael Jollenbeck’s succession that Prince Jaydon was cursed with an invasion from the Duchy of Braun and raids from warriors hailing in the service of House Jurich. Michael managed to hold resistance but he came to demand more and more gold for his loses from the Prince of Mitteland. Eventaully, after pushing both Braun back and forcing House Jurich to take humility, Michael Jollenbeck demands were met with objection from the Prince. What happen next depends on who you agree with.

According to the loyalists of Michael Jollenbeck the Prince had enough gold to pay and was simply treating the mercenaries as a mere levy; it even goes as far to say that one of Michael’s closest colleges, Ghalem Jund, had his tongue cut out for openly criticising the Prince for “having more greed then the damned Jurichs!” What resulted was justice to defy a broken Prince and to hence take a dew payment in the form of the Principality itself, ensuring a more protective governance.

According to the remains of House Kaspar either said they were broke from the war and demanded reinsurance that they in time pay for the debt or that they had gold but Michael fancied the Princedom over a fatter vault. They proclaimed that Ghalem’s verbal attack was also a physical attack against the Prince, which the Prince replied in what was reguarded as a act of mercy compared to what could have been inflicted.

There exists a alterative claim Michael did not dream of land and that the Prince lacked gold; what happened was simply a break down in diplomacy married with Jaydor’s poor judgement and Michael’s wroth. This was aided further by the plots of the Count of Rosaland who with aid from the Count of Ostenland played mercenary against prince for their own benefit, so they could continue to keep their counts while their fellow counts had their titles stripped so that the Mittlekrieger could split among themselves.

After forcing Jaydor and his family to leave Mitteland the mercenary Michael Jollenbeck declared himself Prince Captain of Mitteland and of the Mittlekrieger. He declared that “all my warriors are princes” and rebranded the Company of the Mittlekrieger as the Princes of the Mittlekrieger, with the High Prince Captain serving as supream for both Mittleland and Mittlekrieger. Michael ruled till 14 years before Henrik Dragic’s appointment as doge; he died of food poisioning. His successor was Ghalem Jund’s son, Jeffres, who knew not war in his time as he died from a hunting accident in the second of Henrik Dragic’s reign as doge. When Henrik Dragic declared himself archduke his enemies hired High Prince Captain of Abdu Maier of Mittleland and Mittlekrieger; he was slain by Henrik’s forces and the next High Prince Captain, Nym Stark, had the Princes of the Mittlekrieger change sides to Henrik’s side.

Since the replacement of Henrik by the cunning of House Venetianer the Principelity of Mitteland has remained under the oak of the Mittekreiger; as House Venetainer like Obrad Petrovic assimilates itself into the local culture it has entered in tense relations with the Mittekreiger, especilly after Archduke Emil allowed House Jurich to do an old time raid on Mitteland without objection. Now as Archduke Andreas takes the throne he neiboures a man who lost his eye to a Jurich raider; “One-Eyed” Flynn Volk, who also claims from his mother side to have the blood of Nym Stark. Indeed the mercenaries now take an isolative status when it does not come to business; when it does they serve protection for trade in Mitteland and provide their forces to the highest bidder. Should House Venetainer offend the Mittlekreiger then the merceneries may bless the enemies of Andreas with a discount. For now profit is the prime focus, as Flynn eyes his heir and second in command, Prince Captain Damir Bogdanovic of Dunkelgrünland.
