a lightweight discussion of WW2 aerial ops and the like

purchasing weaponry involves lots of money and many varied forms of graft . Combined with an interest on part of the seller it can also lead to foreign influence among the ranks of the buyer . As the British ruled the seas and their industry was second to none , nobody could find much to oppose in the weapon contracts on the day , and the ever increasing British encroachment in the Turkish Navy . The expertise required to run a Steam Fleet simply wasn't there to begin with . ( In 1877 , the Fleet couldn't do much since the British who ran the Machine Rooms rightly felt it wasn't their war and there weren't many replacements at hand . )

we have this r16 claim that 1858 was a turning point . Which if accepted , at least for the purposes of discussion , shouldn't cause any surprise in that the Ottoman Navy then became very interested in "Reform" . To the extent of playing a leading role in toppling of Abdülaziz .

the new Sultan , Murad V , already mentioned in the CFC as a member of a cabalistic attempt to destroy the Islamic Ottoman Empire and not by me in the years past was indeed picked up when he was still a kid . By the State , namely his father the Sultan who did like him very much . Likely to run the country one day , he was truly trained in the ways of the West with full access to a whole gamut of "new" ideas . After a solid base in the ways of the East .

the crisis that would carry Murat to the top stemmed from the wishes of his father Abdülmecid to crown him instead of Abdülaziz , brother to 'Mecit , uncle to Murat in defiance of the rules of succession . In 1871 'Aziz tried to do the same by an attempt to change the same rules and bring his own son to the Throne after he was out one way or the other . Murat , naturally wanting the top post , co-operated with Reformists though with hindsight we can surely say that those reformers wanted Reform only because London told them to want Reform . Yadda yadda 1858 and so on .

at this point we must once again remember that the Ottomans were once a global power and in the day owners of a kinda rotten but still imposing empire , and we didn't live on Mars . Back then at least . We followed what happened in the world . Murat's programme included effective modernization of the country with historical precedents keenly examined . It must be relevant that Murat would be the first Sultan who didn't wear a beard even if all the depictions that purport to show Yavuz but actually(?) belong to Şah Ismail of the Safavids has this mustache-only guy . No beards , hence modernization as per Petro of Russia . And not because of membership in lodges that want to destroy Islam but that the Ottoman Empire badly wanted to be relevant in the 19th Century and had its future rulers brought up accordingly . It was family property for Murat afterall .

this post is not an apology for Murad V as the following examination of his downfall will make clear .

somewhere above ı have this line about not living on Mars and following the stuff around . Well the event in 1875-76 was the Samurai Rebellion in Japan , with the West fully confident of eventual crushing of any kind of opposition to wonderous Capitalism and all . Reforms do produce opposition ; the art being in making the process as painless as humanly possible . Murat had long sections in his programme to combat this opposition that might arise , the age being one of Enlightment .

but first things first . ı was once given this rule of thumb that ı should never waste a chance to talk against Tom Cruise . Isn't it great how he becomes the swordmaster after 10 minutes of watching the techniques ? Though it took a check in a print encyclopedia on the Rebellion and a chance encounter that the title , the Last Samurai actually refers to the Japanese guy and not some bored American mercenary .

the initial and / or the sternest opposition to this Secular Ottoman State that was to arise with the work of Murat was most likely to originate with the Başıbozuk community . Meaning Irregulars and most likely transcripted as Bash-ı Bouzuks . On whom it would be really rare to get a favourable referral . ( If you have seen anything positive about them online , the links please ... It would be the first for me . )

the Ottoman Empire was steadily losing ground for 2 centuries at the time . And our defeats were "nothing like" our conquest in era long gone . Ethnic cleansing was the norm and we had an abundance of bitter people with burning memories . There are people in Turkey who still won't eat fish , because so many people perished in the ships that carried Circassian refugees across the Blacksea in the 1840s where the dead were simply thrown overboard without the slightest pretense of dignity . This from the East .

from the West the Bosnians would be the perfect example to talk about . Their en masse conversion to Islam was mostly caused by their deadly emnity with their local neighbours ; as such they regularly produced some of the most spectacular examples when it came to hardliner Muslims . ( At that time ... 1990's version is a Serbian and even Western propaganda hype . That war's bitterness produced a couple of war-criminals , not Jihadists . And mind you , the "ethnic differences" of the Caucasians can scare the veterans of the Balkans . ) Being a "Turk" and defending that was an existential issue for the Bosnians . To the extent that Islam was identified with being a Turk and nobody would go to Heaven unless one knew how to speak Turkish . The story goes one devout Bosnian started crying in the Mosque one of the days , that poor Muhammed would go to Hell because there was no way that he could have learned "the" language .

living through hell on earth at times and already aghast at the "equality" brought by the reforms since 1839 these were kind of people that would be most unlikely to be impressed by further Rights to Minorities and all . And the Çerkez or the Boşnak wouldn't be alone in opposition ... Murat simply misjudged the tales of 1858 and thousands of similar accounts , "normal" at the time as the West had the East in the vice of Colonialism and increasing the pressure daily . He was hoping Western support for a new , humane State even if the majority of people prayed to Allah . Westerners saw in him a possible turncoat or more likely a fool to play with . Murat expected whole hearted co-operation if he opposed stuff . He was to be quickly abused out of such notions .

modern day Right Wing historians never hesistate defining Murad V as a Free-mason . Since it immediately reinforces the stabilizing influence of Abdülhamit that replaced him and saved the country . And did the God's work in opposing the grand-grandfathers and similar ancestors of modern day Lefties . As if the very nature of the things make it ever possible to see who too was not .

one trait that was obviously shared was Murat liked his alcohol . So there he was , intoxicated by the morning drinks and the adrenaline rush of the coup long plotted actually happening with an unlikely gloomy weather in what should have been a nice Spring day and the expectation that some sort of Islamic Medieval warrior class would be already massing on the outskirts of Istanbul ... Clanking on body armour and sharpening yatagans last used in the 16th Century . Only to be done away for good swiftly , quietly and efficiently . For the Modern West was to be there watching and assisting ; nothing repeat nothing could stand in the way of progress .

it certainly didn't help when a ring-leader of the coup drew out a pistol and placed it on the lap of the new Sultan , to be used in case of need . Further reinforced by suggestion that they should first visit a battleship ( to give the Navy extra bragging rights ) on their way to the Coronation that was to take place that day . Wasn't a good sign for a mind already clouded . Who took the sound of cannons fired in salute as a sign of a titanic clash that shouldn't , actually couldn't be happening with Muslim warriors charging and despite all the awesome modern firepower still charging . Were they already at the gates and were the reformers already running away ?

a further shock was that Murad V was not allowed to sit on the Ottoman Throne . Really . Explained as a failure in logistics , it is actually the inititiave of the British Ambrassador who wanted to remind Murat that he was to be a mere puppet in the reduction of the Ottoman State , nobody required an emperor ... The plunder of ex-Sultan's household during the Coronation ceremony takes precedence over his half cocked effort to placate the Islamist Rebels -who weren't there or anywhere- by cold shouldering the Minority leaders . The event became a farce with an Ottoman rising from the acting-throne and running away from the Archbishops and the Chief Rabbi .

it would have served the "Revolution" better if they had informed their head of State that the "Revolution" was to take place on the morrow , so that the said head of state could drink less and possibly have a night's sleep .

the came the death of Abdülaziz . Within the week and officially a suicide , committed by a pair of scissors Abdülaziz borrowed in order to trim his beard . By cutting his wrist veins . The thing is he wasn't the first Sultan to be deposed and killed in the interests of the state . But the tradition was that the blood of the family as rulers were sacrosant , not to be spilled and the ex-Sultans were always choked to death -unless poisoned while still ruling . A rule observed even in the case of Osman II , the "Young" , whose suffering included sexual abuse and rape . This further reminder that they were no longer special and exempt had a profound impact on the brothers that would rule the Empire in its last period . Abdülhamit would survive , even if his paranoia and oppressive-at-times measures are the stuff of legend . For Murat it turned the depression into a full blown crisis .

with the blood of his uncle on his hands , even if the ringleaders had been talking to the British Ambrassador and not to him on the matter , there was no way that his manners laden with symbolisms could make sense for anybody . The people of Istanbul didn't think of Nasrettin Hoca , a funny wit ( and truly vulgar in the period he lived -namely 1200s ) when they saw their Sultan riding his horse seated backwards . Him hugging Cabinet ministers was obviously weird , considering the very majority of the population would have no idea of what Camelot was . And since that was clear enough even for the most awfully drunk person that could possibly stand on his feet , Murat's condition deepened . Finally a shrink was called in from Vienna and the solution offered was 6 months in isolation in Europe .

was unacceptable , impossible actually . The Europeans were pushing for new reforms , back-breaking ones . The image of the country had to be one of solid leadership at the helm . Thus , Abdülhamid the woodworker .

the fear of the reforms to be demanded was the reason why Abdülaziz fell . On statewide compromise and not of Satanic designs of a small clique bent on destruction of Islam as per the then and current claims . Abdülaziz had always been somewhat old minded but had never seriously opposed the struggling efforts at modernizing the State . His removal was meant to signify "Look, we are serious this time, we will reform. Just don't give us another Navarin, will you?" It was an act in vain . Abdülhamit , too , couldn't avert what was in store for the Porte , not even with a declaration of a Constitutional Monarchy . Russians were coming , with the rest of Europe waiting in the wings to save us from them Rooskies .

cabals are way overrated : Murat , for one , learned even as an Emperor of an Empire he was but a piece of rag for Europeans and in no way a brother . Should have been an earring on the ears of those who like Gulf Oil so much ...

once removed from the seat of action , he quickly recovered . Kept under Palace-arrest with the events quickly justifiying the decision of his younger brother , the new Sultan . A new coup attempt to remove Abdülhamit was quickly suppressed . The killing of a journalist at the gates , at the hands of a Pasha so illiterate that he could write only 7 and 8 in Arabic numerals as his signature has long been a symbol for the old brand of democrats ; who currently tend to be residing in jails . And the Ottoman Sultan , the Defender of the Faith , the Enforcer of the Islamic Laws etc. etc. kept his older brother well stocked with the finest liquor Ottoman money could buy .

[current day commentary ]

of course , Murat's tragedy is far lighter compared to what happened to Abdülaziz . ı don't actually believe the Uncle's only "success" was ****holding Napoleon III . Besides the Empress' extented stay in Istanbul after the opening ceremonies of the Canal was more about countering the British influence in the city . What this influence could do , these posts try to explain somewhat . Part of the reason why she confidently pushed for war in 1870 was the belief that London , the true puppet-master behind Prussia would be somewhat hindered by proxy moves , Ottomans as you might have guessed .

the Jeune Turc movement as composed of exiles and students in Paris and thereabouts did provide a few , maybe a dozen , maybe more volunteers for the French Army , though .

the Minamoto Samurai was the first Civ III unit ı managed to add to a scenario , quickly followed by the Stormtrooper from the Star Wars . The last had been the subject of a few fruitless attempts . But no , we didn't ever field Samurai ... We are a 20th Century construct , and ı only exist 'cause the newly elites had been "looking for" someone to beg them for mercy , kept me afloat in the days before my luck would strike and ı would make a name . Real easy with mumbo-jumbo even for a loser of my size , you can never fail to know what will happen next .

who would believe this Deep State was Japanese Samurais mown down rank by rank by the Meiji Restoration ?

this image lifted from a magazine and originating in Punch could get me into trouble in many various ways , starting with my own doubts whether it fits within fair use clauses . The situation is during the Boxer Rebellion the Chinese find themselves cornered by the world and suggest that presently they might be losing but soon Foreign Devils will start fighting among themselves . Something the magazine finds prophetic . ı have been led to believe this stems from the days the Dowager Empress really needed the Good Offices of Neutrals . One of the suggestions of such Neutrals was real funny and after the laughter in the office died down this was drawn . Apparently the offices of the Punch were possibly the place where the moniker Deep was fitted as in Deep Asleep , assuming the phrase was used in the English of 1900s . A jab at some other Emperor's figment of imagination of people who cut other people to pieces and the funny old and seriously good days . The difference of the weapons except the Japanese who don't count anyways , the readiness and the bulk of the Russians and the thing that the British and the Germans are so alike in posture would be things to notice , had ı ever been anything to take notice and so on . Whatever ...

funnily enough an Ottoman Marshall got the command of this World Army thingie for a while .

lots of scheming takes place against this country and so impressed with their brilliance people finally can't take it anymore and use the concept on -generally- somebody else . With the move made within the decade or the next ... See what we were spared in the 1880s . Oh yeah , Zombie Samurais , who would want to mess with that ?

the reign of Abdülhamid II has shaped the political debate in Turkey during the whole of the 20th Century . And even beyond , even if it is yet just a decade and a quarter into the 21st ... It depends so much on your political persuasion . He was either an oppressive usurper of Nation's demands and desires and the epitome of the politician that uses "Backwardness" to personal gains or practically an Islamic Saint that saved the country and his removal was the cause of every ill that came to Turkey since ...

this polarization is not unique to my beloved rectangle on a world map . Just as an example and ı have been using this thread as a kind of notepad for this "history" ı am unlikely to finish oneday / someday / well , maybe and was inspired to take this down while the muse was still around for this discussion .

the case of '67 , the 6 days that changed the Middle East , specifically why it happened and in the way it happened ?

the choices are clearcut .

a- Nasır was Adolf Hitler escaping from Hell and taking over a shell , intent like hell to destroy Jews , starting from Israel . Hence Arabs got what they deserved .

b- Israel wants to rule the world and there is no way their appetite for more land can ever be satisfied . The true represantation of Israel in a Civ game would be making its traits expansionist and expansionist .

the r16 way to it can better be explained if made on a country by country basis . In alphabetical order ; since ı have never been good in spelling skills ı made folders named after each country and allowed my computer to put them in order ...

america
stalled in Vietnam . Requires a sideshow so that destroyed Russian weapons in Arab hands need immediate replacement . Delaying shipments to North Vietnam giving an upper hand to Washington . So that Hanoi can be safely bombed back to Stone Age . Mac Namara didn't have to factor in SA-2s while he was making up target lists for LeMay burning down Japanese cities with a passion .

china
while seriously distracted by internal dissension , defeat of anybody under Soviet tutelage will prove Detant with the West rots Revolutionary Ardour and everybody must fall in line with Stalinist / Maoist truth .

england
the British just like to play people against people . And a possible thrashing of both Communist and Non-Aligned Movements will allow easier management of the Commonwealth , since America will not allow a re-appraisal of the Atlantic Charter . Not the UK , must have some a reason to refer to Anglosaxons each day ...

france
has lost the Colonial Empire , Algeria hurting particularly hard . Israel the protege regularly thrashes the Arabs . Maybe with proper preparation they can steal Russia's thunder and get back in . Providing Mirages and nukes to Israel and protecting Arabs from the very same .

germany
has been siphoning quite a wealth from the Arabs and stuff with the glory of wonder-weapons they invented in the WW2 , but couldn't use due to the hordes of the Red Army in Berlin and B-17s that bombed anything anyhow . Though more and more people are studying the promises to Peron of Argentina . They need something big . And America will forgive more Concentration camp officials in return for transfer of M-48s to Tel Aviv . See the America paragraph .

india
disturbed by the Pakistani demands of military assistance in 1965 and the 5 million dollars worth of stuff sent by American permission . As such feels whatever happens it must involve Turkey in a most destructive way . Indians will be first to talk to Nasır on the matter .

iran
nasserism irks people , especially the thundering diatribes against Monarchies . Plus increased prices are good for any oil-producer and prices will rise with the closing of Suez . Convinced of the success of the plan in 1966 when De Gaulle allowed a higher than expected percentage in an oil deal with a French company which paid more in transparent section too . Iran's primary role in the affair is to deny "reinforcements" ; Pakistan has lots of people seconded to militaries of Middle East allowing them to maintain a larger standing army than possible with purely National means . The arrival of an Indian envoy to Tahran will provide the heads-up . Shah had himself crowned in 1967 , he deserved to be an Emperor after this magnificent victory ...

iraq
removal of Hussein removes a possible comeback by the Hashemite family . Maybe they will themselves be the saviours of Jordan , who knows ?

israel
wants to conquer more land and desires to survive in nearly equal ratios .

saudis
with bulging checkbooks they feel their time is upon the world and they sure can be lording over masses , not just Pilgrims who come and go . They don't like the Hashemites anyhow .

soviets
an Arab defeat gives credibility to the premise that Western influence is all negative . Those who require Russian weapons should cleanse themselves of the Old Guard and make way for increased numbers of Soviet sympathizers .

syria
they regularly trade everything with Israel , but primarily fire . A coalition is obviously good . They will try expanding South until 1970 as per the Plan . Though the Plan now takes aim squarely at them ...

and now the Plan . And Nasır's part in it . He has long been talking against Israel and backwards Arabs in nearly equal ratios . Has been fighting a war in Yemen since '62 and victory is not exactly in sight . There is a limit for foreign policy successes to make people forget they are closer to famine than feasts . Economic success is required . If the Palestinian problem is solved , the West can provide more . As such Palestinians will need somewhere to live . Where , where ? Why not Jordan ?

then naturally Hüseyin must go but how ? Well , Israel has been good in fighting , let them humiliate Jordan . But Egypt's prestige requires assistance to Arabs in need . Well , let Israel re-do the airfield raids of 1956 . This way Egypt can justify looking the other way while the West Bank falls to the Zionists -who have promised solemnly to US State Department that it is all they are asking . Loss of Kudüs will obviously finish Hüseyin . And how will he lose Kudüs considering the Jordanians have been the best that faced the Israelis ? Theirs is a disciplined Army trained by the British . Let London use their contacts to get it done . Platoons leaving sections behind and retreating in the confusion of battle , a drop alone is nothing , many drops together eventually make the ocean . Okay , settled then .

so , removing a Monarch and leaving an open door for more , since the King of Jordan lost Kudüs , of all places . It will be beyond obvious that Arabs must fore-go archaic methods and look for modern ways . And follow a shining example . Guessed it right , Nasser's Egypt . Solving the Palestinian issue by giving them a state allows a clean sheet with the West , Russians will have provide more to stay relevant . And the Zionist entity , well they will try but can't defeat Egypt and now that the Palestinians are content with Jordan , it doesn't fall to Egypt to fight forever for a lost cause . Brilliant , just brilliant .

the fake anti-Semitism under American permission and supervision in a certain country that ı would have no trouble in spelling should have made the old guys cringe . And their hair would stand on its end , were they not so bald or actually cared for the US . Or even impressed by the Plan , whatever it might be in the moment . There is this requirement for the Turkish Military to fight "abroad" and the soft method that made us likeable to the Arab street by arresting all the "closet Zionists" in the said military has to be reversed to a degree . The defence minister has been so undemocratic in recent days suggesting documents written in 2003 using a 2007 version of Windows Office have to be false . Don't you say ...

while on it , ı was allowed to ask whether there were any regrets in sugaring up the Domedovo 1967 report that made the "MiG-23 Foxbat" a dogfighter , wouldn't it serve Americans better if they were encouraged to go on with the F-111 and so on ? The response was it surely wasn't them who saw Foxbats flying from Soviet carriers off Mozambique and things just happen ... Plus everybody was on the ground that day and they wrote up even better papers . Yeah , the way the F-15 has been denied to THK has this funny thing , too ...

[the paragraph with reference to Windows Office is a current day , biased commentary .]

even for a wannabe like me , history writing can be a mess . For there is so much to read and digest and add to previously done ; being concise is a rare gift , really is . Meaning stops and starts and mulling on the same spot for ages again and again .

have been ranting on this urgency that drove military planners and theoricians relentlessly for an offenisve hopefully decisive -but not supported by any means , except nearly brainwashed thinking . The imminent demise of the Ottomans was -at times- seriously contributing to the mood and ı won't shy of reminding a matador's cloak when discussing the effect we could have on people .

though the headlong rush finally ending the muddy trenches of the Western Front should have been delayed and alleviated by accurate observation , if not totally destroyed . And history shows conclusively that opportunities for such observations were certainly there . Maybe not in Crimea , the first of modern wars , where the Russians were "Asiatics" and the Western Allies superiority and the resulting frightful consequences were dulled . It was little different from the Colonial campaigns the West was conducting by the dozens at the time and winning with glorious ease .

1870-71 would have worked . But the Germans were up and coming at the time ; their courage was never to be doubted , for in courage laid the foundations of empires . For the French superiority of defence meant Alsace and Lorraine and Berlin were unattainable goals , hence so unpalatable . Doubly hurting as the memory of Napoleon and his glorious empire was still in the living memory in that particular timeframe . As such it quickly disappeared in the mists of Nationalist propaganda . One might remember the magazines on the history of the town ı live ; one has this relevant passage where a French traveller of 1880 or 90s loudly complains about the Germans . For a painter or two has arrived in this hellhole in Asia and has painted a whole wall with the lie of two German Uhlans chasing a complete regiment of French Cavalry . The French artists should be more patriotic and travel around ...

which still left the American Civil War as a safe avenue for European planners and thinkers . Quite a few lessons were there to see . Both sides were "White" , of the same culture and technological capability even if the North dwarfed the South in population and industry . Both sides were well versed in Napoleon and it started offensively enough . Since the South needed a swift victory before Washington could put all of its advantages to work and anything but a speedy conclusion in its favour seemed implausible to the North . Continuing with the Napoleonic themes the South would soon prove there was something to the importance the shortish Corsican attached to morale . This doesn't imply the South was right by any means . While the North had all the nice stuff the Europeans considered they would have in the Armageddon to come . Massive numbers of troops , economy to feed the same , war industries to arm the same , means of communications to move and mass the same , even "total" maritime superiority . The Irish immigrants enrolled in the docks straight out of the ships were the perfect match for the Colonial troops the UK and France factored in for an European war .

yet it quickly stagnated . Perhaps a bad choice of words as there were so many offensives with extensive advances , it wasn't exactly in the same form with the trenches of 1914-18 . But then not much happened in the end and it was attrition that broke South's back . Sherman's March to the Sea was natural in the circumstances ; had the roles had been reversed and Lee had burned New York , North would still have recovered . South had no such chances .

all of which still convinced the cult of offence that it was on the right track . The South was of stout hearts but also of muskets . The enemy -disregarding whomever he might be- had to be defeated before amassing enough means to effective fight , else a devastating operation in the vitals could defeat the cohesion for war . Meaning a surprise attack was good even if it led to the loss of large numbers of men in the initial breakthrough phase . The urgency and the inevitable butcher's bill it would entail was justifiable , if the back areas were reached in time and utterly destroyed , before the enemy could be totally ready . As such by 1914 Germans had to crush France before Russia fully mobilized . France had to be deep inside Germany before the perfidious Albion turned this one into an attritional struggle where they picked the choicest plums while London's Continental Allies did the fighting , and dying . The British needed a quick resolution as even if the bloody French victory would curb their ability for post war expansion , the Russians were a Colossus that kept coming and they would be a big trouble with their demands in the lands of the to be destroyed Ottoman Empire ; as such the troops had be ready to move at once to block Moscow . Russians had to be in Berlin before the Western Allies to get more of us .

even if this was to take place some 50 years later , such motives took the Europeans away from the obvious that should have been plain to see . The increasing power of the defence was there ; ı understand the barbed wire made its debut in 1864 . A Southern complaint they could do nothing about was the repeater carbines of the North that a Yankee loaded on Sunday and fired all week . Being outnumbered and penned in the only thing the South could do was digging . Trenches and breastworks made an impression on who cared . Even the machine gun would have been in -to add to the overall carnage , but Mr. Gatling was of Southern origin and his invention of 1862 would have to wait a bit .

a final thing in this post is that the "diversity" of the North worked against them . The Southerners had one goal , defeating Lincoln even if the impression ı get from CFC is that they didn't know how . Assuming they succeeded they would have possibly all become imperialistic no-good rogue states but for the duration they were ships sailing in the same direction . The Northerners knew eventual victory was certain but their advantage in population meant they had far more people with a lust for success , an unhealthy abundance if you will . Northern attrition could rarely work before some backroom deal took place and the Nothern commanders were replaced by others who had to do something else somewhere else , to get personal credit . Going on the ships analogy the Northern fleet was one of oared vessels where the direction travel changed according to whom had the watch and on any given ship half of the people would row in the opposite direction in any case . An example of this political ambition is the case of a mine being dug under Confederate lines . In the meantime a brand new force of troops is trained for the operation . Composed of Blacks their success will be doubly stinging for the South . Soon a new Northern general is on the scene to take the limelight . The mine goes off , but the new troops are awestruck by the destruction and mill about -even if they are already veterans of many bloody conventional operations , while the meticolously prepared Blacks are away somewhere on the flank and of no particular use to the cause . The Southerners collect their wits and start shooting down the Northern troops . Grant won the war for Lincoln for he was a drunkard that couldn't be a threat to anybody in those backroom deals , though every new victory gave him more power until a day came that he was unremoveable .

the vastly expanded American arms industry after their Civil War is a reason why there still is a Turkey in the 21st Century . One must be reminded that once again that continious expansion was the cornerstone of state planning , strategy and actions for quite a long time ever since the state was invented . Even if they were content with being flunkeys of London , the Americans knew a day would come that eyes would turn to them and the massive landmass they felt belonged to them alone . France was already busy trying to digest Mexico .

in such a context , the totally agreed upon destruction of the Ottoman Empire would clear the Europeans to run amok on our ruins for a decade and let them free to be adventurous elsewhere . Although this line of thought was immediately shot down , one must again be reminded that we Turks were the primary interest of an even younger Uncle Sam in the beginning of the Century in question . Even if only interested in sea borne trade -for the massive profits it brought - the now independent British Colonies had to deal with banditry on the very same seas they were to ply . A significant part of that risk , especially in the Mediterranean was the North African states , nominally under Ottoman control .

despite the overwhelming "Nation Building" rhetoric over the years , the Colonies were in a flux , they didn't exactly know what to do , where to go . Their "tax-evasion rebellion" had run away , the path ahead seemed to be staying under British and European "radar" . Even if the Spaniards were natural targets for further expansion through "Colonizing Companies" that would be built up and "same minded" rebellions in Canada wouldn't be rebuffed . Acting with the power of state was good for business , being a state was detrimental as it would re-kindle British ire . While the discussion centered on such high ideals like personal freedoms to determine which way the Colonies would go still remained the thorny issue of the Corsairs and pirates who would take a ship or two here and there .

those who wanted a state came up with an alliance with the Ottomans . Trade protected from the depravations of the Corsairs while other gains were to be far more impressive . Apart from de-rigour trade priviliges to be taken from Constantinople , American "industry" was to benefit from arms and ship sales to Turks , missionaries would be pushed on irregardless and this Anglosaxon fixation with rumours of the Prussian moves for getting a "permanent" Alliance from the Ottomans as referenced by Frederick the Great would have been dealt with . This last being the reason why these secret talks were immediately reported to the British as a sign of mending bridges . Further reinforced by the policy of Open Doors -you know that central phrase for China in the years to come- for British companies and stuff . ı understand there was never much competition between the British and American missionaries after all .

those who wanted to be businessmen have the proposal defeated . No secret diplomacy , no alliances with the Old World becomes the guiding light , the Americans are a new breed of men . ( Bah , Anglosaxons ... )This debate of 1790s will be pushed by Woodrow Wilson when America finds itself ready to take over the things with the obvious devastation in Europe , Americans can be trusted partners in raping the world for once they had the chance but they didn't work with the heathen against the interests of Europeans ... As if London and various other European capitals don't know who voted what .

as businessmen the thing the US does is straight bribing , buying off North African entities . At one point putting up a million dollars , some 6% of their yearly budget or GNP , ı can't remember which . Could have worked had Britain and France been in peace . With trade embargoes being a staple for both sides , Americans could look forward to great profits especially when dealing with the French . Then the British pulled the levers and pushed the buttons , the Portugese stopped fighting the Corsairs and a fury descended on Yankee shipping . The businessmen suddenly needed a Navy and a Navy comes with a need for some means to support the same Navy . Americans are very ungrateful people , you know . Turks gave them a state by being bandits and rogues , a state that allows them to waste a quarter of the planet's resources to grow awe-inspiring sitting muscles in McDonald's and all they do is coming up with plans to re-arrange the Middle East with a civil war in Turkey ...

attempting to tell history inevitably becomes a mess , especially when the teller is as uncapable as me . It seems sticking to a straight chronogical order is the best bet . Even if this thread will have to suffice with jumps back and forward . Like one that jumps to 1865 or thereabouts where this state against business debate once again erupted . Business once again triumphed . The need for Allies in case Europeans decided to take action was summarily "solved" with the export of Southern officers as mercenaries all around the world . America had a continent to expand , was not likely to get entangled with the Europeans over colonies . Russians sold Alaska even if they knew the existance of the gold , they were unlikely to be successful unless London came in as well . Mexicans had been completely trashed by the Monroe Doctrine , which had turned out as an Alliance with Britain against Peninsulares and Britain was nowhere to be seen in 1845 to avenge 1812-15 . There was no need to be wary of external threats and what remained of the Federal Army was soon put to "good use" against the Native Americans .

that American arms dealers could not resist Turkish coffers and sell a load of weapons right at the time this British led arms embargo was getting into full swing as a prelude to Russian attacks which were realized in '77-78 , that Bible-thumpers saw no wrong in shipping to Muslims is what got Ike . He doesn't seem to be a much of a Christian with reportedly saying the only time he would go to Church would be when pall-bearers carried his casket to his funeral . Still the American firepower in Turkish hands would be the reason for his reference to unexpected consequences even from Religious aspects in that speech . The only thing in the Military Industrial Complex phenomena related to Turkey is an absolutely obscure reference to Christian Americans selling to their damnedest enemies right at the moment they were also busy in finest traditions of missionary zealotry to bring about the largest Crusade ever yet devised .

it is not all gloom and doom though . Even if this has nothing to do with the "narrative" going on ı succesfully trolled Lord Vader with a reference to a magazine cover . Everybody looks up and there he is , the red lightsaber , the blackcape , towering presence and wait what , crosseyes ? He took it in style and his counterattack has been swift . You might remember the MI6 related guy pushing on the Secular Caliphate . Apparently he has been on the show hosted by "eyecandy" ( referenced in quotation marks and in English , apologies if there are pejorative meanings ı am not aware of ) and supposedly declared me as his successor . With all due respect , ı don't think so . The world is not exactly paid attention to , nor appears any reason to do so .

this section in italics should be ignored in part , but the way ı haven't been keen on my real-life lacks recently had to be dealt with

the Act 1 of the greatest Crusade then planned , the 1877-78 Russo-Turkish War didn't exactly work out as it was supposed to , but the very same War of '93 -the year being 1293 in the Islamic calendar- was still an unmigitated disaster for the Ottomans . ı have mentioned a few times that the reign of Abdülhamid II takes differing shapes in differing Turkish narratives of history . The War was so terrible that it becomes a matter of utmost priority to pin responsibility on "other" side . The former official Turkish history had it that Abdülhamit was a crook that who abolished hard earned freedoms and destroyed any chance of reform for his autocratic yearnings , he would have fought and lost dozens of more wars with the same exact dire consequences if that would help him to keep his throne . Former minority , now majority view holds it that the reformers , those murderers of Abdülaziz , were all puppets of the West , if not sworn enemies of Islam , Ottomans and Abdülhamid in descending order . Their skill-set was so oriented to conspiracy that they couldn't govern once they got their revolution and they could no nothing to stop the savage hordes of Commies Russians , had they actually wanted to . For it is so "obvious" that they were of some ethnical group that would see nothing wrong in maximum number of Muslims killed . State TV documentaries now actually name them , too .

but there has be a convergence somewhere . It was the natural courage of the Turk as a race , the total abandon of this world for Allah's rewards to Martyrs that stopped the Russian offensive , at least for a while . In the East it fell to Nene Hatun , a young housewife , to mobilize the civilians on a rampage with kitchen knives and axes to stop the Russians from getting control of Erzurum after the Military was spent . In 1955 , still alive , she was declared the Mother of the Year , having lost a son in Çanakkale 1915 . American generals would visit her with full media contingents in tow . Getting people to fight with teeth and nail is way cheaper than any F-86H , with or without Sidewinders .

in the West , it was of course Plevne . The narrative was and is the same for both camps . The courageous Turkish soldier with strict love of God and Country bares his chest to incoming endless waves of enemy , to be finally overcome by sheer numbers . It's the surgeons who have to operate without anesthesia you will read about in Turkish books , and the troops on the table doesn't even whimper . Don't jump and down shouting Nationalist propaganda , the surgeons are English volunteers and one became the Australian General Governor or something by 1914 ; if godless foreigners or our Allies in NATO say so it's not Nationalist propaganda ... Finally the commander on the spot Gazi Osman Paşa runs out of everything and no help is in sight . A desperate break-out is carried out but the Russian fire-power is too much .

ı don't ever remember seeing a discussion of Plevne in military terms in Turkish . At most a few claims that Osman Pasha invented the whole concept of trench warfare . Imagine my eye-opening jaw dropping surprise at reading the relevant Wikipedia page that says we outgunned the Russians .

it's a curse of the cannon-fodder armies that their primary asset of bulk is not really conducive to rapid updating . Life in many sad aspects do not follow computer games ; you don't collect 600 shields in some city of choice and build up Leonardo's Workshop to see your financial outlay immediately halved . Why are they called shields , anyway ?

well , the Russians had suffered greatly from the superior firepower of Allies in Crimea , had quickly decided to adapt to new norms proven and established by the thousands of troops they had lost , but new weapons are always expensive and rarely suitable for real quick transformation . Their new rifle was sure to be a war-winner against accustomed Ottoman standarts . Which obviously wasn't there in Plevne .

these new Ottoman weapons dearly paid for , a substantial reason why Istanbul was legally bankrupt in 1875 , still shouldn't have been , considering the British refused to sell , no doubt on the grounds of human rights . 1820s to '40s were a period of hell for Istanbul and '70s promised to be even more imposing . Every subject of the Porte knew the end of the country was nigh . No need to remain loyal to a lost cause is a perfect translation of the line that the Ottomans lost the "soft" power .

maybe not . We still had loads of gold . Even when England wouldn't sell the arms needed for the application of hard power -to crush rebellions that always asked the nearest consulate for advice , command and support- Americans would . They had a massively expanded arms industry with powerful reach in Washington , powerful enough to ignore the European understanding that the next decade was to be the Ottomans' last .

once again maybe not . They might have figured out it was better for business if they got our gold before Russians and the peacekeepers to follow plundered it all . Their missionaries and the bunch of converts wouldn't be capable enough in the face of mercifully angelic Europeans afterall , right ? Or maybe pragmatically drying us out would bar bribing later in the game ; no coin , no gain . For it's this bribing thing we supposedly excel in . ı do have a soft spot for this WW1 version and keep repeating it . The highest ranking Ottoman official calls the local bigshots to his office where he has legs on two sacks full with gold . Every shuffle of the feet brings this most alluring sound and such wealth is locals' to get , if they behave ...

militarily there are more surprises , which spring up immediately as one starts reading Wikipedia . So , we lost just 30 000 killed in combat ? In the East , in the full spirit of the day , it's not Turkish resistance but the locals as guerillas . Nene Hatun et al are now a propaganda project which is no issue for the English page since she doesn't appear at all . Bulgarians enter Plevne after it falls , Turkish Wikipedia has no mention of Osman Pasha entrusting his wounded to Bulgarians and Bulgarians having to kill them all in order not be at the mercy of Russians who would be very intolerant of "collaborators" . English page ignores it as well , no need for a line that says other Bulgarians sold the bones of killed Turkish troops as fertilizer . Turkish page doesn't report the 30 000 Bulgarian civilians killed or claimed killed ; which must balance the account ı guess .

the better part comes with the links , and ı don't mean that as a joke ; the Plevna Delay is a good read . It has the standart Easterner trickery that uses every possible ruse to get the unsuspecting Westerners into a designated shooting gallery . Second battle is a repeat of the first in a way , encouraged by an easy initial success , some foolish Russian Prince sends his troops forward in picture perfect formations . Formations you must have seen in pictures on the walls , steady lines marching forward , one or two falling -killed bravely- and the flags fluttering on top of a layer of gunsmoke . And the Russians come on as per the military theory of the day demands them to , with fixed bayonets . Once it comes to bayonet fighting the victory must be theirs . We Turks naturally prove to be cowards and [according]"to prior plans, ... [stop] shooting when the Russians [are] about 50 yards from the trench line, and ... [abandon the] first line of trenches" to run to the second line , to repeat the thing once again . When Russians loose steam totally , we will be counterattacking and taking their limited gains out .

battle 3 becomes what would many WW1 battles would be . More troops are brought in , hoping that bullets of the defence will run out before the attack runs out of troops . Russians manage to take their target at high cost , only to be driven back as Turkish reserves join the fray . Russians might have taken a strong defensive position but by some freakiness the position is defensive only when attacked from the front , the rear ( ie. now the Russian front ) offers no protection at all and we have superior firepower throughout . While the schwerpunkt changes according to the needs , a Russian group manages to capture and hold on to some important locations . But there are no more troops left to reinforce them , they have to retreat under full attention . When it comes their way .

it's the turn of Romanians to attack . As per the theory that would still live on , it is just a question of manliness and no offence meant here but the Romanians thought they were better than the Russians who were just a mob . The Romanians had a so-far unattacked sector where they would simply crush us and nobody would be able to tarnish the reputation they would get ; what they got is reported to be the highest concentration of fire yet seen , a full 20 000 rounds per minute . See , the evil Turks have been taunting the Romanians for weeks even throwing rocks and dirt on them , to get them to attack , in the densest defensive zone .

taking enough , Russians bring in Todleben who lays a siege around Plevne in practically medieval terms . No more Napoleonic glory . Apparently Vauban himself wouldn't be surprised in all the trench digging and ever closing in . And we can't take it anymore , no food , no supplies , no nothing left . Our breaking out is about to prove we aren't exactly the heralds of a new kind of warfare . Our attack will be in the same exact lines of troops steadily walking into aimed rifle and artillery fire without any support , a shooting gallery of two miles long . Worse is to come . When what should have been the second echelon arrives on location , with the columns of refugees sandwiched between , and a three hours of a traffic jam under heavy fire is the result . Of the Egyptians in 1973 , after they wasted their power in a fruitless assault on prepared positions an Israeli commander is supposed to have said "It's a good day. Our forces are themselves again and so are the Egyptians." . Something similar must be said here , the East in its proper place under the eternally dominating West . How could all those officers explain themselves when they got back to Istanbul , where the end is nigh and the country will fall and do Westerners ever forget who deny them ? Losing heads in the head of battle -in the interests of self preservation facing the Russians who take no prisoners- is one thing , seeing the writing on the wall is not . Especially with the talk that the Ottomans are totally defeated , else aid would have arrived .

this post is a general paraphrasing of that link found in the Wikipedia page . In my defence ı must say it is the largest piece of military writing ı have ever encountered on Plevne .

still should explain the formation of this striking paranoia in the Russians . The one which they can never bring themselves to fully trust the West - who still can not bring itself to accept the Russians as part of the West . Here there is the Christendom deal to destroy the Turk , the demon seed for eternity and what does the West do ? Sell weapons and at the first opportunity begin to waver and talk of the delay at Plevne which means maybe Russians are not worthy at all and they shouldn't get anything ! We will see whether this still turns out to be a factor in WW III , which is to be next year . Right ?

my writing capacity taken by the Oliver Stone's documentary means this will have to be a one post affair

came across Eyecandy and her guests discussing the Balkan Wars of 1912-13 . This thread has more than enough examples of how the dominant worldview in the country accuses Jews that came to Selanik in 1492 for everything that happened to the Ottomans and Turkey ever since . And what happens when ı don't watch where my tongue or keyboard goes in depiction of such . Let it suffice to say that the guests are mystified that Selanik fell without a shot . To Greeks , who naturally oppressed the resident Jews with abandon .

there is no total difference in the narrative though , Selanik fell and everything fell . It was the place where the Ittihat was founded and those people established the Republic and committed all those sins , currently corrected . The difference comes with how the emigrees from the Balkans made the same to the Christians of Anatolia . It was them Balkan people , hounded from their 500 year old ancestral home in Europe , who hounded Armenians out of their Armenian homes , here since time immemorial . The resistance of people originating from the Balkans to the current "Peace" taking place in Turkey is already forming ripples , as far as one can see ...

and it's actually a fact , beyond the figments of the imaginary r16 world . Seperatists just love to compare themselves to the Turkish minority in Bulgaria , getting a not-so-favourable response from such immigrants . ( Though the only time so far the Kurdish construction site workers saw their shovels taken from and used on them , in my city at least , was when they marched demanding equality and a right to harass girls ; who are obviously lighter-weight in morals , compared to East ... ) Indeed , it really appears this soft power of Turkey doesn't go far in the immediate North-West of the country . Even the President tried to shut up translation in his visit to a Turkish community over there to justify our forthcoming "bi-linguality" . One indeed wonders aloud about the "unsuccessful" assasination attempt on a former leader of the Turkish Party over there , in light of the tidbit that Ankara has now established another Turkish party to compete against the original . As such one can only smile at the guests of Eyecandy who solemnly declare that only the Turkish Minority in Greece is available to Turkey and its glorious future ... Don't you say ... It must be obvious , when the current Health Minister , an emigree from Greece was the first to be mentioned by the press , in the holy business of removing the T.C. initials from the hospitals .

returning to Selanik it was known , right in the Dothraki way , that every Colonel in the city had a free-pass to a Foreign Consulate when it would come to the final butchery as the city would fall . Some had invititations from half a dozen Consulates . They were simply _______ quicker . For a divided Selanik -say between the Greeks and the Bulgarians- was only possible with a divided Constantinople with the whole gang of Great Powers present as peacekeepers ; and using that image for speedier breaking of Ottoman Asia . Selanik fell and the Bulgarians were stopped at Çatalca , for otherwise the Greeks wouldn't be smart enough to gobble Selanik for them alone and it would have been a combined Balkan Army . At the time TIE-Bombers were not available ...

such is the evilocity of the Turk , we don't just roll over and die , but traitorously choose who will rape our dead carcass . And such is the reason why Mustafa Kemal , Military Attache in Sofia in 1913 , just months after he was drawing plans for re-taking of Edirne , was not taken out and shot . For arriving at a custom ball in full Yeniçeri outfit , taken from the Military Museum . And he won for the best costume , too . Because the Bulgarians were getting so many indications and good words from Berlin and Vienna that our days were numbered and our last battle would better be with the Greeks , considering the numbers of people who lived in Anatolia and the whole Megali Idea thing . And the whole Europe went up in anger -for in 20 years time as everbody was busy in bloody bickering , trying to figure out who deserved Alexander the Great's legacy , Ottoman 2.0 could sneak in from the dead . Yes , here ı give you the guy who "started" the Great War :

so , what other pernicious evil did Kemal concoct up later on ? One of the most despicable has be the phrase Peace in the country , Peace in the world . Simply by concidering all the attempts by his successors to undermine it .

the phrase seems to suggest -quite aptly , let me add , in my humble opinion- that it's quite good have some stability -even a bit of respect for people , since pushing them on and on might one day cause them push back . More pertinently for today's Turkey , it also assumes stability in foreign relations , hence peace between nations would help this ideal all the philosophers are assumed to seek , this elusive Peace the mankind is supposed to attain . This from a guy who was in the thick of things , unless his contemporaries didn't push him out , from 1905 or thereabouts to 1925 or so , he had seen the dissolution of the country he had taken an oath to defend , a bloody World War , a comparatively tiny and perhaps tidy War of Liberation and as a reward for all those troubles , a coup by assasination attempt by his closest colleguages . A ruined marriage as well , since a primary facet of one man rule is uninterrupted access by the underlings so that they can influence the leadership ; his wife's attempts to control him in the way wifes are supposed to (like calling him to bed after mid-night) clashed with state business conducted around a drinking table .

between 1920 and 1929 , between the Throne failing to play its part in the War after being over-mesmerized by the RN ships lying at anchor just out of the window , or the Caliphate but not Sultan botching everything , or Ittihad still trying to take over the country after all the bloody mess they caused and the Wall Street Crash stunted the entire world so that there wasn't much likelyhood of an invasion , Kemal was to be an enlightened tyrant . As mentioned in this thread he was but a teenager seeing trains of troops arriving at and leaving a train station and incredibly for the Ottomans , winning too . He had lived on the brink and personally seen thousands die almost in vain ; if people didn't pay attention he would have his trains and his troops and they would be on time whenever there was the slightest risk of anybody trying to take the country (he had helped to save) to the brink again ...

after the Crash and the relief it brought , and he was kinda older he was "sidelined" by his team who took the chance to remove any threat to the One Man rule , like that Liberal Party experiment which ended in townsfolk watching "Democrats" of the day beheading a Lieutenant and a couple of troops and then the hanging of the said Democrats . Kemal was the king , sultan , dictator at his table but he would go to bed at the first light and country was run by people who worked at their offices in the day . The buddies and non-buddies paid all the compliments and allowed him to do whatever he liked , like inventing a pseudo-history of Turks being an elite race of achievers , including Sumerian tablets and Egyptian pyramids and these taking place in palaces well stocked with alcohol and women of temporary residence , though his drinking was way ahead of his womanizing . He wasn't il Duce , he wouldn't stain his pants in Goverment receptions , dancing ...

what he needed and was trying to get a power base of his own , instead of cadres taken over from Ittihad ve Terakki , who survived swinging in some tree only because of the troubles in Russia . The West lacked the men and the finances to contain the Reds in Moscow , unless there were some bulwarks around the Soviet Menace . Meaning they gave up fighting Turks in 1920-22 ; a break that would be gross to waste with internal disputes . Trains didn't grow on trees , you needed a capable state to have them . And for a state , Kemal needed people whom he could judge , almost trust and work with , considering their common past .

to say it once again , he was for modernizing the country -and not the impression of modernizing the country- and his methods would vary between the inevitable and the sublimely nonsense . And he suffered for it . Simply because we had to look like in the fold [and not different hence a threat justifying yet another Crusade -yet including the likes of the Poison Gas and tanks and planes] he would ban Turkish folk songs . People would have learn to like the Classics and be able to differantiate between Bach and Mozart and as such he fasted for years for his favourite songs . It was too early to call a spade a spade and his dictatorial ways matched expectations .

this new Turkey has even lolled him for being so Godless yet creating a Sunni dominant Turkey . As if he liked the removal of the Orthodox of Karaman , or the news that up to 1000 Greeks were dying daily after they left Turkey by treaty -which was incidentally demanded by the Greeks . Opposing the Karaman thing would have immediately brought up the question of who did what against the Armenians . Which we will survive , it being a central piece of PR when the US decides to bomb us , which can't be that far now . Returning to subject at hand , 1926 immediately proved the extent of opposition to him -but incidentally not to one man rule : There were more than a few candidates for his job , all with Crusades in the name of Islam and stuff already planned . And actually talked with the West , generally the British who were profoundly insisting that Bakü had to be internationally administered . Mind you they weren't giving back Musul either .

this ain't an ode to the infallible father figure and ı don't say that in order to avoid trouble as it's gross in the new Turkey to be even semi-literate and keep on liking Atatürk . As the legend has it ı have taken a million tons of a reconnaisance cruiser to the edge of the galaxy , such stuff has no justification to concern me ... Nor it's some response to some CFC thread where the dignity of the man was insulted or something . It's simply the day , the first of August , just as good as any to start the count-down to January 2014 , the date when in the 2nd Act of Whistleblowing , Snowden is to leak it's Turkey that's responsible for the war in Syria . The relevant scoop by some dude in strategy sites wasn't much appreciated , since Esad has not routed the Irresuction totally yet : even for all the invectives from the Western and Middle Eastern Media about the way he understands from administration of a country , he does more talking with the Sunnis about future power sharing and what-not than bombing . Which is naturally the thing to do , considering the toll which is still far too many when you take overall claims and divide by half ...

returning to the scoop , it appears Russians are sitting tight on Snowden , to return him to US when Clapper orders his comeback or post him to somewhere in the South America , as soon as the failure of the Geneva talks planned for June -only to be deferred- can safely be pinned on anybody but Russia . And it of course defies logic here in Turkey that there can be a such a charge . Neverminding the newly elites bragging on TV on how the Muslim Brotherhood of Syria took 6000 martyrs in "peaceful" demonstrations waiting for the PM's magic to work on Esad . Or how the journalists in 2013 proudly talking of the glorious day in 2011 when they were there when the decision to start the armed actions was taken by the Brotherhood . Only because it's the age where TV newsfootage define who wins wars and Halep would fall within a fortnight and the rest would follow like an house of cards . Only because Peace in the country , peace in the world was all BS , the mark of traitorous elites who served foreign interests , the motto of those who denied Soft Power to Turkey . The Soft Power which made America listen and agree to give Syria to Turkey as some satellite to be run indirectly but gloriously .

how that is supposed to happen is unclear , now that American planning maps show Incirlik Airbase and the attendant US air power in the new country that's to be run by Barzani , with Mersin being the westernmost province , neatly providing a secure zone for the Oil terminals in Yumurtalık . The Turkish Army has daily trouble with "smugglers" up to 1000 or even 2000 strong formations who are always repelled from the borders ; though the favourite must be the 350 strong Cavalry which shows up time to time . They are demonstrating ownership of the area , as the same maps show Hatay and Gaziantep in Sunni hands after they are kicked out of Syria ; which is nevertheless fatally weakened with casualties and the material devastation hence no risk whatsoever to the spanking new autonomous region of North Syria (of Kurds ) . The autonomy to last briefly , before joining the new state of people long oppressed , who of course accept the bump in the map readily ... The relevant ethnic cleansing in Hatay and Antep to be authorised as soon as the Civil War in Turkey starts ; since the Army is supposed to be more interested in what happens in Istanbul and Ankara . Our Arab brothers in arms against the tyranny of Esad were already taking potshots against passenger buses in 2012 so that Alevis would stop travelling to Antakya for any reason . Would journos mention that ?

am pretty sure there wasn't one single soul in Ankara brave enough to remind the PM that his continious referral to the bloodshed in Syria as Turkey's internal matter was dead wrong .

we are Turks , what we say doesn't count , it was Christian ethics to break promises made to us in the 1400s , it is globally de rigour to do the same in the 21st Century , but weirdly enough the same whole world expects the Turks to follow the promises they didn't even make . Yeah , instead of being thankful , all people will "remember" is that they were living so-so but in peace yet Ankara made them fight and since Esad will not take them back , they surely deserve the camps they live in . Ankara must pay for the tens of thousands of deaths it caused ... It doesn't matter if something was not said , Snowden and his ilk are capable enough to make it said . The PLO in Jordan in 1970 is of course in the past when traitors ran this country , so there is no reason whatsoever to consider the 20th Century , where Turkey didn't have Soft Power ...

any general in the Armed Forces is advised to pray that he will be cashiered in the high level Military meeting that starts today . Expected to retire the last batch of generals and admirals in custody for coup plotting , anybody that stays in is surely to be labelled a collaborator when the fail becomes the reality . For just like Kemal's generals watched him die , for a new war was on the horizon and there would be huge gains in Russia with so little effort and Kemal was a fool that believed in his stupid phrases about peace , the recent and current leadership of the military simply accepted the Soft Power and the glory it would bring . Nothing rises that much on injustice , but then ı am not even a "yarım akıllı" , halfway smart even in the lowly standarts that apply to Turks ...

[this post is heavily doused with political commentary , with a frightening possibility of becoming real history .]

for the country seems ripe for plucking . The unbroken line of successes so far seems to be tottering enough to force the Goverment to claim foreigners are jealous and behind everything that happens . When ascendant , the same goverment big-wigs would laugh at the exact use of the same concept by the Old Republic , defining it as a cover for the lack of ability and honesty .

the jealous foreigners apparently now include corporations , possibly oil companies , who told Hizbullah to abduct two airliner pilots in Lebanon , which naturally formed a justification of calls for National Unity and acceptance of this brilliant new Turkey . For you know , the single reason for the jealousy of the West is simply the Turkish-Kurdish partnership rising in the Middle East . We are gloriusly beating the 7 Sisters , even if they no longer exist ; Kurds have oil and we have the smarts to use dat ... The Kurds have it somewhat different : They have oil , and we have the smarts to be used . Such brilliant people continiously tell us that among the great many great things they have done , the greatest is this notion of partnership . Of one that leads to an establishment of a new 'stan in the Middle East which Turkey will supposedly rule behind the scenes . It really doesn't make an impression of such smart people , that within a week of fightin' and American CAS conspiciously failing to make an appearence they will all be physically raped by their Kurdish allies .

nobody ever expects them smarties to understand they have come this far only because of the 2008 economic crisis biting deep , removing Greece as the lead-in for the 3rd Balkan War .

it's the lack of the 24 hour Greek Blitz that turned the oft qouted "One Minute" affair involving the PM in Davos from proven anti-Semitizm that would force the good old US of A out of interfering in a war inside NATO , to shrink from stopping clashes that would tarnish the reputation of the Turkish military , the colossus we all know to exist somewhere -but not in this universe- into something else . That something else being full "Arabian" co-operation that lulled the newly elites to think they actually had the beginnings of soft power that could never be broken ; with Kurds playing the same tune as well . What was supposed to be teary eyed brotherhood with the Arabs , long denied by the Kemalist = Atheist Republic , so that Saudi / Qatari funded financial success would be hated by the secret Jews in Turkey and that would be a spark in the troubles following our defeat to the Greeks , so that the Kürtler of Turkey who still show a strict reluctance to join the seperatists would be induced to come to fold so that we would have this 3-way mass destruction , became "reality" . To the extent that we were so ready to interfere in Syria , calling it our internal affairs , without anybody ever trying to explain , even understand ...

yeah , despite all the real and supposed and fabricated suffering of people in Turkey's East , supposedly due to Turkish racism , the seperatists still fail to field the 100 000 strong army they feel they need to kick us out of our own country . Nobody has ever asked why the US doesn't offer 5 to 6 divisions but that's of course beside the point . Well , a solid percentage of the reason for that is the feodal thing that holds sway , none of the chieftains and stuff hold much trust for the others and they do pay attention to not to attract too much attention . This is why all the Turkish Channels carry debate programmes that teach us , the entire country actually , on how smart the Kurds are , on how spectacular their foreign policy is , how unstoppable they are and how much they deserve compensation since they have suffered so much . Since the future is theirs the youth in the East learns to be one -out of their former feodal bonds , sharpened in demonstrations , united in hate of anything Turkish , and naturally despising all the smarties they have bought with promise of oil in N.Iraq and nothing else , they will be the gloirous generation that breaks the Turks , the enemy of entire planet .

and there is this odd thing about suffering . Fail i Meçhul describes a criminal act with the culprit unknown ; currently it means state sanctioned murder of political opponents (hence Kurds) by criminal elements in the Military and Police . It has led to some number-dancing : When you hear anybody talking of 40 000 martyrs killed by the seperatists , you must understand the number is wrong in that it's the overall figure for total casualties with some 22 to 30 thousands being seperatists killed by the State in actual fighting . Then there is the widespread figure of 17 000 cases of unknowns , the Fail i thing above ; leading to the seperatist claims they lost 60 000 against the swinely murderers of the State . Some real surprise than to hear that some expert on the Turkish Right had the galls to suggest the total numbers of State murders are maybe 260 , with some 1000 killed by the seperatists themselves . Caused a rash of denials , but it seems nobody can actually declare the real numbers . The experts on Turkish TVs know they are supposed to further the case of seperatists ...

this is the only thing that seems to have survived , the conquest of Syria as a prelude to even greater things ending before it even got started . Even the Muslim Brotherhood was toppled in Egypt , and it hurt ... There is no opposition to people in Turkey , or anywhere in the world to gain personal rights and freedoms , since that would imply even the writer of this gibberish nonsense would be similarly entitled to any improvement . The case in Turkey is though legally giving 50% of everything to a bunch of people ( meaning feodal lords of their respective areas ) who never polled even 10% . Still wouldn't be much of an issue , there are people who lived through 1960s to 2000s with the Americans in the same solar system ; but this ain't a question of grieveances and stuff . Only a ploy to gain an expansion of influence , and control of oil , and all the richness that would entail as schemed by people who don't really appear to be considerate of human rights otherwise . Made worse by the fact that it's known nobody will ever allow Ankara to do anything that it plans , desires , hopes to achieve ; hence the result will be a soul blackening smear of a Civil War . Where the projections show a million dead , in case the world decides to keep it controlled in the way Syria is kept smoldering . Nobody ever believes such numbers , ı know , but if the world prefers uncontrollability , there has been one wargame in 2011 that "yielded" something up to 13 million with pestilience and stuff added in .

with apologies to the entire human race , the WW III will be allowed to happen .

the golden generations off all stripes are not aware that they are supposed to be burned together in the de-population of this country . They take Voice of Russia statements that declare 3 000 people died last month in the name of the great Arab Awakening as a stab against their machinasations at greatness -if they even care about what foreigners try to do . Actually Russians have heard that the projections predict 200 thousand deaths by January 2014 , using Western numbers , in the Arab Spring as started by some sleight of hand of the Wikileaks and offer that 30% is not a big thing to be really alarmed of . As if they themselves were not in the game in the last century . When 1912 had started so good , offered so much .

that the 1914 exploded in their faces has so seared the smarties of certain smarter nations that they can't even begin to forget or remember -according to your taste . In '64 there was McNamara who had figured it all out , a month of thunder rolling over Vietnam would be more than enough to tame the Chinese . And scare the Muscovites out of their wits to sit idly as the Greeks and we went to war over Cyprus . The '89 had already been spent in the 87 Aegean Crisis when a prototype of this maniacal bring it on attitude was already in play ; apparently only because there was a factory in Ankara that mated F-16 bits together in a co-operation deal . It's the mystical power of the centennary , my friend .
