DominatrNES: Infinite Struggle

Chapter Seven: Trade and Trouble (211-240 WhC)

Gilguron, seemingly invincible, was attacked by Ennoch upon declining their demand of their section of the Pochar Hills. Ennoch swiftly buried the laughable forces garrisoned at the border, and marched through the hills until they reached the river. However, by waiting for reinforcements to cover their gains, Ennoch missed an attempt to storm the Gilgur heartland before they got organized. Gilguron countered soon, ensuring that Ennoch would stay in the hills for the time being. Murrunech, a new state of traders, formed south of Nunag Hagash on the coast. The majority of the region was steadily trading, save for the aforementioned conflict, and another one to the north involving Imrad and Aluhima. After a series of hard fought mountain battles, Imrad managed to sever the Aluhiman empire in two, leaving them in utter chaos. As a result of the Aluhiman religion, Kulan, the citizen body was able to stick together and hold Imrad off before they did any more damage.

Rasire and Northern Dalisam were relatively peaceful, except for the uprising in Drubela's portion of Sholdhor's remnant lands. Despite attempts to establish leadership in the land, the residents resisted and took up arms, sending the provisional leadership back down the coast to Drubela. The state ceded itself to Buk, after acknowledging their similarities and banding together. Ulaa, a state composed to transcendent Utugians and Kolkurs, was established in the northern corner of the Blacksoil steppes. To the extreme west, on the Ushi island chain, Fipan and Ok-Sai are founded amidst chaos among the tribes in the area. The latter, united under Emperor Sho, was well known for its fierce warrior class known as the Lao.

Empreca was prosperous, with trade developing rapidly. Pyrem, with access to the Haredumian, entered the trading circle, primarily working with Phoces, Alexaendros, and Glypthus. Quesha expanded ferociously through the desert, but a new neighbor Khajal, looked to be hungry to compete with the regions powers. Set expanded considerably, both across Sare Nowe, and by tearing through northern Thorys.

Sinopa, one of the more quiet states in the region until their raids on Yrafa, finished the tiny Haredicumian state off in alliance with Alexaendros. Yrafa villages were burned to the ground and Sinopa and Alexaendros established themselves on the small peninsula. Slaves were dispersed about the region, including Phocesian islands, and some were even able to own land in Uharrhesia is citizens. North of Ecta and Elaria, Cyregia is established, bordering the Phianto river to it's north.

Extal continued its trend of peace, save for the Razzars, who began plundering the Kanhan coastal villages. Kanha, desperate for help, asked Hekkai for assistance, but Hekkai had little motive to attack a state they were trading weapons and supplies with. Tlaah expressed interest in attacking the Razzari, not to assist Kanha, but to take the newly conquered lands for themselves.

Balances of power began to shift, and the strongest of the states became hungrier for power. Expansion was all around, from Bargon spreading through the jungles, to Negat working their way down the desert coast. Within the conflict and confusion, trade found its position as the factor which dictated which states crumbled, and which ones prospered.

Yo-Shi

Emperor Sho. Just the name struck awe and gratitude into the hearts of Lao. Indeed, this strong Lao warrior, Yo-Shi was shocked when the Emperor asked him to become one of his body guards.
"Me? I am not wise or cunning, so why would the Emperor pick me?"
The guards assigned to give him the message shrugged and handed him a scroll. "We don't know. We're just messengers. We've never even talked to the Emperor."
Yo-Shi shook his head. What was going on? No-one he knew in his clan had ever become a bodyguard. The bodyguard were the Emperor's first defense against assassins and last defense against enemy armies. Whatever was going on here, he would find out in the morning. Meanwhile, his family would have to told.

OOC: Just one small thing: Shouldn't the title say "Chapter Seven" instead of "Chapter Six"?

oh dear, thanks for catching that!

While our capital Yamuna Nagar continues to flourish, with the aid from our, enemy-turned-allies Utugia, It was now time to turn the focus on our fishing village of Shivpuri, the town of Lord Shiva. A decent effort has been made to
develop this small fishing village into a flourishing trading site. The previous small group of fishing boats, would be more in number, with a clear objective presented to the person in charge to the township, Enough shipping boats and men must be employed so that the surplus could be used to feed the growing number of men and troops through out the realm. A strict notice has been issued to the traders' faction that foodstuffs couldn't be traded
outside the kingdom, until the king has personally issued a notice that food stuff were in surplus in the kingdom.

To the north, there was the mining town of SubhashPalli. There is a requirement of manual laborers at this location while we start to invest in mining of stone in greater quantities, which must be manually taken to various locations
for construction purposes. Also a small camp has been established which would produce the flints and sharp stone shards required for fashioning weapons to defend our selves with. This work site would also produce spears, sharp stone shards attached to ends of long poles.
Spoiler :

One of our more innovative men, has some up with a design for a defensive shield against aggressors. these are rectangular/oval pieces of
equipment, that are expected to take in some damage before they break.

Several designs have emerged to depict the various factions with in the Kshatriya Clan.

Chapter Eight: Bloodthirst (241-270 WhC)

Besides a relatively small border scuffle with Tefez, Gilguron was somewhat relaxed. Prosperity set in, and soon, pottery was developed by craftsmen, and it supplemented the growth of the Gilgur population. With the new advancement, scouts and merchants were able to make longer trips, and farmers had a greater ability to store food. Gilguron's northern neighbor, Dassa, managed to conquer the southern end of Segashto, who was too distracted with their own conflicts to be able to retaliate properly. The once prosperous Aluhima saw its eastern half fall to the restless Imradi, and the opportunistic Lushyazi. The remnant of the empire sat wedged between growing powers, with no progress to bring stability. Similar to Aluhima, Epri also faced a tough Negati naval force, who managed to land and obtain a foothold. Eventually, the whole western coastline was conquered in the name of trade with Emprecan merchants.

Pyrem, the dominant power in Empreca saw its empire crumble politically. The northwestern portion of Pyrem, tired of being neglected and starved because of its distance from the great Wisay river, severed ties with the leadership and cemented its own state, Ilixes. Trade from Crodila and Negat was connected with Haredicumia because of Ilixic emphasis on trade and profit. Phocesian islands were supplied with much needed food, and Sinopa was finally able to cure its starvation problems due to unsuitable climate and terrain.

The region's dominance shifted to Mephata, not only from Pyrem's decline, but from Mephata's military excellence. A solid invasion of Usir proved their might, and they even attempted to challenge the mighty military of Phoces. Mephata assaulted the Phocesian settlements on the tip of Empreca. With the backing of the local civillians, with who they shared common patterns of worship, they were able to overthrow the provincial authority and fortify the region. The proximity of Phoces' main island served a great purpose in allowing quick circulation of boats and allowed for a amphibious counter-invasion. The attack was a success, and order was restored, and the short lived Mephatan occupation was short lived. Mephata surrendered, at the price of forfeiting recently taken Usirian slaves.

To the north, between the Palesh and Trymos rivers, another empire collapsed. Nihamurat, an arrogant state situated in the center of a trade-heavy region, became the target for many of its neighbors. Segashto had been involved for years, with back and forth victories, and ultimately served as enough of a distraction for Holigra and Paschim Ghati to attack, both looking to solidify trade routes and remove the rebellious Nihamurites from the picture. Neos, a rogue state composed of the section of Nihamurat that was isolated by the Trymos River, also pitched in. NIhamurat had its territory nearly sliced in half, and slaves were taken en masse to log Paschim Ghat forests to fuel the steady lumber trade.

In Rasire, religion was the main force of change. Tsang Chiep gained Shosayan followers by the hundred because of poor leadership, conflict with Buk, and mass starvation. In hope for a better life, Shosayan villages adopted Tsang Chiep ans allowed themselves to be included in Khay Lat. A small Tsang Chiep following state, Tsui Ngap, was founded by southern Khay Lat. The Ushi islands were home to two rapidly growing states, and in addition, two new settlements, Ara Kulai, and Hijiki.

Bloodshed was also present in Haredicumia. Alexaendros, a rapidly growing empire, began a cross-sea invasion of the distant trading state of Gerefar. Because of sheer distance, the invasion was not as successful as planned, but they secured a small position in the north in which they could land boats for further attacks. Revolution came about in southern Terantia after local leaders instigated an uprising. Levantaea was established, and Terantia's power was dramatically weakened as they struggled to find a solution for the issue. Phentia launched an offensive on their long standing rival, Lepria, and it took its place as the bloodiest battle to date. Besides a bit of advancement into southern Lepria, almost no progress was made. Severed heads rolled down hillsides, blood trickled into the Phianto river, and bruised bodies lay on the battlefield groaning in unison. Eastern Oroca became a bit more active with its first true war, between Lycia and Ribia. Because of Lycia's focus on military development for a number of years, they were able to easily dig into Ribia's land. Fortunately for Ribia, they were aided by local barbarians and were able to make a defensive hold against the superior Lycian forces. The same barbarians almost shattered a new state, Oranella, in its early stages in formation, but they were driven off after a long conflict.

Extal was quiet once again, the only item of note was the foundation of Balak to the northeast of Gumo.

At no time was there ever so much bloodshed. Enough blood was spilled to fill the oceans. With once great empires collapsing into dust and new ones forming in their shattered remains, change was on the horizon for sure. The balance was shifting, and the future was wide open for the rise of greatness.

Chapter Nine: Shifting Sands (271-300 WhC)

The sands were shifting, notably in Southern Dalisam. The cradle region that, for so long, has been dominated by Gilguron exclusively. While still maintaining a great deal of power, Gilguron saw its neighbors rise to the canopy. Nunag Hagash had a serious population explosion, with the northern area by the border with Gilguron being effected the most. Ennoch revealed a disciplined and well-supplied army, and developed their position in the Pochar Hills. Negat proved its excellence by finishing off Epri. Keshbar began to develop pottery and saw their population increase, as well as trade improve to the point where they held the grip on the region's flow of trade. Numerous new states rose, with Karak and Zeah to the west of Tefez, and Urunach, Eku, and Dumurat in the deserted wastelands south of Ennoch.

Major conflict unfolded to the north of the cradle, in the Erochthian Mountains and the region between the Palesh and Trymos Rivers. Both Segashto and Nihamurat succumbed to aggressive neighbor expansion, with the latter having a more peaceful transition. Nihamurat, acknowledging the dominance of Paschim Ghati, joined their empire for protection from the nearby aggressors, one of which comically fell to ruins shortly after Nihamurat put their sovereignty on the table. Paschim Ghati now had a much easier time accessing the Trymos River, thus shipping greater quantities of lumber and stone out to Haredicumia. Segashto's leader was slaughtered on a trip to Imrad, and the state fell into utter chaos. The entirety of Northern Segashto submitted to Suppa, whos religion across the river appeared suitable for quite some time. The central area was plundered and razed by Imrad, who celebrated their new coastal territory. The south was almost entirely swallowed by Keshbarian traders who sought to gain coastal access and some more land to support their growing population.

The balance of power in Empreca, which had already shown signs of great change, began to become a bit clearer. Mephata emerged as the great force, by utterly dismantling Usir and gained their territory. Bouncing back from the conflict with Phoces, they began to become even more active in the trading scene, by sending Paschim Ghat lumber south to the rest of the region. Pyrem was enveloped in conflict with their long time rival, Quesha, who themselves were struggling with coastal raids from the Island tribes of Barbathar and the border disputes with their new southern neighbor, Matal. Khajal gave Pyrem a hand, who were looking to push Quesha further into the desert. A new state, Kusis, was founded to the east of Thorys. Further east was the scene of Alexaendros crushing Gerefar. Alexaendros was, for the most part, defeated in the first Phase of their Attack, but with a stable position set up, they were able to fan out and attack multiple villages at once, scattering the Gerefarian warriors until they were too isolated to put up much of a resistance. The entire state succumbed, and now Alexaendros held substantial territory on the north Empreca coast.

Rasire was not free of dramatic changes, either. Khay Lat was the center of everything, with Tsang Chiep radiating outwards, pacifying the once troublesome Utugians, and securing allies in Buk and Battai. Shosay itself became a part of Khay Lat, after overthrowing their leader who was opposed to the teachings involved in Tsang Chiep. With the rapid religious expansion, problem also arose. Tension began to mount between Tsang Chiep states and Metozoanist states, as it seemed each was trying to spread further than the other. Metozoanist teachings found their way across the river to Khaylatian cities, where local officials claimed that it was "corrupting the citizen's minds". A multitude of states were founded outside the reach of the Rasire religions, with Salong in the north, Bulatra and Golart to the west, and Ragaku to the south. Over on the Ushi Islands, Ok-Sai was collecting a noticeable amount of wealth, enough to begin to make their neighbor, Fipan, a bit jealous. Perhaps jealous enough for a future attack...

Phoces maintained their strong tradition of trade, but other than that, it was fairly quiet. Alexaendros, thwarted in their northern expansion by the mountain dwelling Ebonarch state, turned to continue their aforementioned invasion in Gerefar. Alexaendros seemed to begin to catch up to Phoces in trading power, and militarily, making the region's balance of power a bit more undecided. Ecta and Nactrabia began to cement their power, and gained power by assisting each other economically. To their north, two promising states with former Nactrabian leaders as their leaders, Psigon and Siphul, were founded on the north side of the Phianto. Phentia secured their position by slicing through the Lepri farmlands and severing their empire in two, taking the close half for themselves. A rumor circulated that Lepria contacted Terantia and Glypthus in order to conspire to take Phentia down, but it was not confirmed. Lycia dominated southeastern Oroca, by massacring Ribia to the point where the whole state surrendered to stop the bloodshed. Exile states, named Soterno, Izul, and Barco, were established out of reach of the fierce Lycian army. The massive victory was enough to take the population's attention away from the crumbling economy.

Extal was not as dormant as it had been in the past. Kanha launched an invasion on Tlaah, and managed to gain a bit of territory. Tlaah, too busy sacrificing weak children at wooden altars, didn't quite have an answer until one of their major villages had Kanhan warriors burning and pillaging districts. The army acted quick enough to save the village and send the Kanhans back, but a return was likely. Expansion north was the theme, with Paxtec, Coaxia, and Taxmatal coming into existence along the Tlamenixcal River.

Major changes occured all around, with Negat, Imrad, Alexaendros, Phentia, and Lycia emerging as powerful empires, each after making brave conquests of lesser states. Religion began to expand, particularly in Rasire, where it began to shape lifestyles and hold the reigns of community. Tsang Chiep saw great expansion, and the developing rivalry with Metozoanism guaranteed an interesting future.

Yo-Shi shut the door to his now former house behind him, his wife and children crying inside. They had taken the news pretty well, but they grieved because they would not see him often. He started to head for the palace, adorned in his official bodyguard uniform.
The emperor's palace was a large place, much larger than he had thought when he had seen it at a distance. The guards let him right away, and he went straight to the court room, unconcerned with anything happening around him. When he got there, he was quite shocked at what had happened...
