RandNES 1: Dawn of a World

Sorry if this sounds pushy mmrandomplayer, but can you tell me when the next update is?

Good job!:goodjob:
I took part in a Debate class last year for my high school and we watched a movie on collegiate debaters. I can't believe how much evidence that some teams had, they had to wheel crates in on two-wheel carts.
I usually use logic for my arguments, not sources. Occasionally, I fabricate sources:D. My brother has a specific nonexistent New York Times columnist named Gregory Forsythe who doesn't exist and agrees with everything my older brother says.
Congrats on the debate tournament! I've always wanted to do debate.

Thanks! I am part of Model Congress, which is more Speech than Debate, but that means that I am corrupt, evil, and I need to lie.

Sorry if this sounds pushy mmrandomplayer, but can you tell me when the next update is?

I don't mind if that question is asked in moderation. I have 9 out of 11 orders, so the update will probably be tonight, tomorrow, or Tuesday at the latest. I have midterms this week, so that might interfere with updates a bit.

Oooh, Midterms, I had them last week. And just don't use those corrupt politician skills on us.

Haha I know what you mean:lol:. Me and my friend won a class debate by completely BSing how the opponent's enforcement violated the search & seizure portion of the 5th amendment. If they had just simply asked us whether or not we had a copy of the amendment, they would have won. :p
NEGATIVE FTW

So this thread is full of liars

My apologies. This past week was very busy for me. McMUN was this weekend, and since I was running a committee... I've had no time to do anything. Now that that's done, though...

I and a couple of debate buddies are were slowly collecting a debate handbook called "Handbook of Common Knowledge". Finally, I can say that World War II is between 1939-1945 and provide sources for it!

Ah yes, we eventually figured out that since we're allowed to use netbooks, and since you can literally have wikipedia in a flashdrive, that it was pointless.

BTW, How's the update going mrrandomplayer?

BTW, How's the update going mrrandomplayer?

I had midterms this week, so I couldn't do much in terms of an update. I promise that u will get an update out today.

That's what I was thinking happened, tests are more important than CivFanatics though....... barely

Update 2
Stone Age
Unknown Year
Sorry about the late update. I had midterms last week and I needed to get a good night of sleep every night and study.

Map:
Spoiler :

Several decades have passed, and civilization has slowly started taking the first few baby steps into greatness.
Notes from the Mod:
-The equivalent time period we’re in now is Late Stone Age. Think early Egypt, Sumeria, Harappans, and Zhou China.
-How extra cities work:
-The turn a city is captured, it does not produce any EP and only produces maintenance. The next turn, a city starts producing EP, base 5 EP. A city’s maintenance is equal to the order it was built in – 1. Cities built on other continents/ built very far away from the capital also cost extra maintenance, but that will not come into play for now.
-Example: Player A built a second city. The city’s maintenance is 1 EP, and if he built a 3rd, that city’s maintenance would be 2 EP.
-How to make cities produce more EP: Cities can grow in population. Right now, most people’s cities are at size 1, which means they produce the base amount of EP, 5. If a city grows to size 2, it can produces 6 EP, size 3, 7 EP, et cetera. Some buildings also produce extra EP (the Palace increases EP production by 5).
-The state of navies: Right now, the most advanced ships are merely transport ships, so the only real military use of ships right now is to transport armies, with the exception of the Sveans (their UP, but their ships are still very primitive).
Individual Reports:
Vengra/Lord_Herobrine:
Spoiler :
Transportation down the river via canoes/barges has largely succeeded, and combined with a good harvest, your capital has grown to size 2. The national library has become slightly more advanced, as your people’s system of cuneiform writing has become more advanced. The redistribution of wealth was less successful, mostly because there is not really much material wealth to distribute, though the policy did help feed some starving families and encourage them to contribute to the system.
EP: 11 (+1 from capital)
Stability: Stable

Aimoni/Neverwonagame3:
Spoiler :
King Rainnard’s reign, while a little bit shaky at the beginning because of the military reforms, earned great popularity from the invasion of the nearby city of Havelburg. At first, the siege was largely successful. Despite the fact that there were stone walls, your soldiers were able to exploit the river. However, a lucky lookout from Havelburg saw that and raised the alarm as you were crossing the river, and you lost quite a few men from that. In the end, your campaign was a victory, albeit a Pyrrhic victory, as you lost roughly half of your army. However, most complaints stopped as the Mandate of Heaven seemed to approve of the campaign. Fortunately, the policy of Rainarding has greatly reduced the need for government work, though you will have less control over those regions. At home, some projects were successful, as a very primitive instruction on military strategy was written on clay tablets. The system of Succession by Mock Warfare was a good idea, but it caused a little bit of instability on the part of change, though it prevented all-out civil war. What will you do?
EP: 9 (-1 because of maintenance, will jump to 14 next turn)
Army Size: 7 (many soldiers died in the campaign)
Stability: Shaky (it will go back up once people become more accustomed to the Succession by Mock Warfare system.)

Tusdar/Everblack:
Spoiler :
The continued effort to improve the flood plains farming and your domestication of cattle have been resounding successes, as your capital has grown to size 2. The stories of the Uleses are being told in more places now, as more nearby areas assimilate with the Tusdar. Lastly, wooden canoes and slightly more advanced ships have been built to assist travelling.
EP: 11 (+1 from growth)
Stability: Stable

Uran/Silverman6083:
Spoiler :
Your salt mining projects have been largely successful, and population is slowly growing because of the preservation of food. Your primitive navy has successfully looted some nearby villages (+2 EP), but looting and burning down villages usually doesn’t encourage people to convert to the pillagers’ religion. However, nearby areas are slowly adapting the Oceanic Gods, merging them with their own local religions. More infrastructure is also being built, helping transport people and goods from farther distances. What will you do?
EP: 12 (+2 from looting)
Stability: Stable

Bhalibirs/Immaculate:
Spoiler :
Your people have started using more advanced Archery for hunting, and hunting fatalities have gone down as food surpluses have gone up. Your people have also established a much deeper cultural identity beyond language and ethnicity with the development of Vibsurv and the technological developments necessary for it. What will you do?
EP: 10
Stability: Stable

Hadun/Amesjay (my earlier mistake was a typo):
Spoiler :
Work on the Tower of Ardun has begun, and because of your people’s exceptional building abilities and the construction of a stoneworks (forges are a little too advanced) have ensured that the Tower is 1/3 finished (if I’ve interpreted correctly that it is a large-scale project, equivalent to a Wonder in Civilization). Additionally, some cows and sheep have been successfully domesticated, but horses are a little bit more difficult. What will you do?
EP: 10
Army Size: 6 (+1 from the more advanced weapons)
Stability: Stable

Elrich/Seon:
Spoiler :
The sheep and pigs in the area have successfully been domesticated, causing a jump in the population threshold (your capital is now size 2), though your people have been having more trouble domesticating horses. A series of quarries have been built, allowing for more stone to be mined and used for a variety of purposes. By trading and encouraging the Elrichi people to explore new areas, your civilization has expanded by slowly integrating the nearby villages into the Elrichi culture. What will you do?
EP: 11 (your capital is size 2 now)
Stability: Stable

Svealand/pole475
Spoiler :
Your soldiers and warships have pillaged the nearby land and you are slowly expanding. However, since your soldiers are pillaging and burning, you aren’t able to use much of the territory, but some riches have been gained by the soldiers and the government (+4 EP for this turn). The other downside to pillaging is that small groups of enemy militia are rising up to fight your soldiers and harassing them. The sparkling metal in mountains to the north turns out to be Pyrite (fool’s gold; please don’t metagame in resources), but some still think that there are other types of metals in the mountains. A basic trading post has also been erected, but because your people have pillaged a good portion of the land, there isn’t as much trading going on at the moment. Some wild horses on the island are starting to become friendlier towards humans, but they are still not fully domesticated yet. What will you do?
EP: 14 (+4 from looting)
Army Size: 7 (+2 from the Dhimis)
Stability: Stable

Sefa/talonschild:
Spoiler :
A great marketplace has successfully been built, and that has stimulated the growth of the economy, as more goods from farther away are being traded there and Sefa influence has expanded. Construction of the large fort has begun upriver (20 EP means quite a large fort). Your soldiers have largely succeeded in redirecting the trade to the Sefa capital, and very little pillaging was necessary for that.
EP: 20 (you haven’t spent the other 10 that you have from the missed update)
Stability: Solid

Missed orders: Eshika (thomas.berubeg), Ch’āenīmhǎer (Bair, NPC’ed)
NPC’ed out: Foeinu (bonefang, voluntarily dropped), Ch’āenīmhǎer (Bair, missed 2 orders in a row)
Bair, if you want to jump back in, post it here with your Turn 3 orders.

ORDERS DUE SATURDAY, February 8, 2014, AT 9:00 PM EST!!!

Yay! Update! I'll do my orders soon

Good Update :)

Also, shouldn't Everblack and I receive another +1 EP as our capitals are now size 2? Seon's capital grew this update as well, and he received the extra EP.

Nice update, fine location now I finally realise where I am, want to do orders now but I have an argument to post in.

EDIT: Since it turns out people are resorting to mockery instead of actual argument, I have time to post my orders now.

Orders:
-3 EP on raising new troops

-3 EP on starting a system of better official records, adapting the writing system we have to the task

-3 EP on improving both the writing system with regard to military matters and the texts of war everybody has avaliable

To avoid a stability crisis, our men patrol the land attacking bandits and criminals and keeping an eye on anyone who might raise a revolt. We don't launch any foreign wars, and simply wait.

Good Update :)

Also, shouldn't Everblack and I receive another +1 EP as our capitals are now size 2? Seon's capital grew this update as well, and he received the extra EP.

Did I forget that? I'll edit it in.

Hey what happen to my army?

Tusdar's Orders
11 EP

3 EP with cattle being successful the people of Tusdar started domestication of camel for travel over the desert when water traveling is not possible.

5 EP After many year the desert folklore of the Uleses grow to the point were it stop becoming a story are more of a belief that many tribe people in the desert start to believe in. Because of the large amount of people who believe in this lore it became a religion call Uleseism. The people of the Tusdar start build a temple to these four beings to honor them. While build this temple the Wakatas (shamans of Uleseism) start setting rules that the tribe should follow under Uleseism.

Decide to make a bio for the head chief of the Tusdar tribe.

Chief Shifar
Spoiler :
Was the first know ruler of the Tusdar tribe. Shifar rule the people of Miscaro since he had the most power out of everyone else in the tribe. (More info as the update continue)

Things about Uleseism (More to come as religion develop)
Spoiler :
People of Tusdar believe that all life was created by these giants and should be respect. The people always pray for the giant forgiveness when kill animal for food and farmers thank the giants for the crops they grow. When if come to death the Tusdar believe that the giants bring in new life with each death. So when member of the tribe dies they celebrate know that a new life will enter this world.

Afterlife: The People of Uleseism believe once you died your spirit will float into the earth were the four Uleses await to see if your soul is worth being transferring to the resting place of Danvero.

Uleseism
Spoiler :
In this ocean live four gigantic beings made of rocks who the tusdars called Uleses which in translate means “Worldy Ones”. The names of these Uleses were Dager, Omaz, Urgae, and Patgo. These four giants lived in peace and harmony in their oceanic world. Until One day when one of the giants discover he could created things from the pieces of it body. With this power the four giants began to create many living things from wolf, deers, bears, and other creatures. After creating many animals the giants felt bored since all they did was created animals so one day Dager came up with an idea to create a being that could interact with the giants. Dage made two beings name Gaurda and Lamia. Gaurda and Lamia lived happy on Dage but the three other giants found out about Dager creations and wanted what Dager had. Dager solved this problem by give his creation the power to procreate. This made it o that each giant could have beings just like Dage had. As the number of beings grew on in giants the more conflicts started to happen between being and this caused animosity between the giants until it erupted in a war between the four giants. The battle was brutal in that many lives were lost and including the giants themselves. Dage and Omaz ripe out each other hearts and threw them in the sky which created the Sun and the Moon. Urgae fought Patgo to the point where both giants were losing body parts that fall into the water. The battle ended leaving only Gaurda and Lamia who survive the chaos. They began anew on the remains of these giants.

Unless noted otherwise in this update or an earlier one, everyone's army size is 5.

Yeah I was sort of envisioning almost the great lighthouse /watchtower built on land, though if that is too large than simply a normal lighthouse/watchtower on land.

Hadun Orders

5EP spent towards drastically improving agriculture to feed the builders and maintain (if not increase) the manpower required to construct such large structures. This will mainly be in the form of building larger/more efficient farms. Improving pastures for the newly domesticated animals and building better barns/ small storehouses (small granaries) for the increased food and such.

3EP towards the continued construction of the 'Tower of Ardun' with all resources that can be spared from the lumberyard and mine being put towards its construction.

2EP to supply soldiers/merchants/animals for journeys to nearby peoples and tribes. (see below)

Some of the soldiers of Hadun are to escort some merchants and pack animals (if possible) to visit neighbouring tribes and people. They are to tell them about the beliefs of Hadun (the god Ardun) though they are not to press it. They should bring back any knowledge they acquire and information about other faiths. They are to invite the other tribes to come trade with Hadun by pointing out (if possible) the tower that's in construction. The merchants are to be supplied with shiny tin, crafted stone (from the stoneworks) and other goods that people may find interesting. The soldiers will offer their services to these tribes as a gesture of goodwill and assist them with their needs before returning with the merchants.
