Botwawki 2.6

Is it too late to join at this point?

Thinking of joining as a faux-crusading knightly order.

OCC:

Ants, eh? As an amateur myremecologist, I can't help but feel that my research is turning against me.

@Seon: Never too late to join, you could take one of the extant NPC factions and repurpose them, or create a new one from scratch in any area where a current player does not have his settlement.

@Quisani: Of course, ants...

Ah. That clarifies the webbing. The actual thought of ants that lay down webbing of any kind makes me cringe. The fact that some species are attracted (annoyed? drawn to?) electrical equipment is bad enough.

TO: Grand Island
FROM: New Gulf Commonwealth

We are thinking of striking at the heart of the spider ants. Would Grand Island be interested in collaborating with the New Gulf Commonwealth to wipe out the infestation? That would be one less immediate threat facing our peoples.

We'd be happy to support any effort, but at this time we can only provide 20 men with 1-H Guns to any planned offensive.

Military Equipment: 50 High-Tech Melee Weapons, 400 2-H Guns, 425 Laser Weapons, 20 Plasma Weapons, 50 Power Armor Suits
Robots: None
Military Skill: 5

Commander’s Challenge Solution:
Immigrants will only be allowed if they have something to contribute to the settlement or the mission. This means water, technology, robots, weapons, food, information (of any useful sort: Invaders, locations of useful things, survival, etc), or a useful skill. This will be decided by a trusted lieutenant of Commander Bede. The lieutenant will also decide whether the gift is good enough to justify the giver bringing in other people with them (A big gift will be good for a group, while a small one for only a single family, or even a single individual.) Food and water will be worth more, as we need a lot of that.

Orders:

Rename Titusville to Nasacity

Launch an expedition (100 people, 20 people in power armor, with 10 Plasma weapons, 65 laser weapons, and 25 high Tech Melee) are to go explore the Norfolk Southern Railroad company, The Valiant Air Command Warbird museum, The Florida Institute of Technology, and the Boeing Facility, before returning home and dropping off what they’ve gathered. There are then to go north, and scavenge titusville, including the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 17-9, Titusville Keel boat school, The titusville municipal marina, The Westland Marina, Brevard county Sheriff’s Office, Eastern Florida State College, and Arthur Dunn Airport. If we find a boat in working order, use it to ship scrap back to Nasacity.

Another 50 people (10 power armor, 5 plasma, 18 laser, 2 plasma, and 25 high tech melee) are to go to the Spacecoast Regional Airport, and strip it completely bare. They will disassemble the airplanes there and we will use the parts (wings) to build fortifications at Nasacity (sort of like how megaton did it) the bodies of the planes will be used inside the city as spare housing/hydroponics space. With a bit of work and ingenuity, our capacity for housing as well as agriculture (Using buried airplane bodies as human feces containers, in which mushrooms should grow) should skyrocket (Naturally, keep these products as far from human habitation as possible within the confines of the base.)

Another 50 people (10 power armor, 5 plasma, 18 laser, 2 plasma, and 25 high tech melee) are to make a quick run to the Military Sealift Command. As it was one of the important staging ground for resupplies to the entire war effort (but on the east coast, not the west and not an actual military target, so probably not bombed,) there should still be a significant amount of supplies that were about to be shipped out to be recovered there (Food, water, weapons, robots, power armor.) They are to take everything valuable, and bring it back, hopefully attenuating the problems we are likely going to be encountering.

The remaining population and weaponry (Power armor and plasma and lasers and guns and Melee) are to be used to keep any problems at bay, remaining safely holed up in the fortifications we built last (half) year.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, though, AS SOON AS WE HAVE ENOUGH SCRAP, WE ARE TO BUILD A WATER PUMP/PURIFICATION SYSTEM, as well as as much Farming equipment as possible.

Orders for Update Three
Word of the raider gang 'The Hounds' has spread into the Vault and caused a discussion among the dwellers on what to do about the threat. One of the most ingenious ideas came from a young lad who had been known in the Vault for his excellence and intelligence in strategic games. The young boy announced the plan to create a fortified defensible position within the city where the raiders were to be baited into a "Killzone" where they would be trapped in by a combination Mr. Gutsys and vault dwellers equipped with 1-H Guns. The raider force would then be in chaos and confusion as they are slaughtered with both flamethrowers from robots and mid-range fire from the Saint Vikings.

In response to the growing question of immigration, Xavier pondered for several days. He eventually came up with the idea wherein all immigrants would have to collect and deliver a sum of scrap, tech, or weaponry. Each prospective immigrant would be given a 'pilgrimage' of sorts where they can only enter the society if they were to come fully encumbered with scrap and beneficial materials. No matter the circumstances, no immigrant is to bring any weapons specifically into the vault and must undergo a full examination to make sure they are of healthy mind and body. Once they comply with the regulations, they will be allowed into the Saint Vikings society and be given complimentary food and water upon entry.

Movements:
-Send 35 with 1-H Guns and 5 with Laser Weapons, 3 Mr. Handys and 8 Mr. Gutsys to Tropicana Field in search of any and all scrap in the vicinity. Attempt to recover the security system such as cameras and possibly robots, as well as the speaker system for broadcasting voices.
-Send 35 with 1-H Guns and 5 with Laser Weapons, 3 Mr. Handys and 8 Mr. Gutsys to another section of the local city ruins in search of the maximum scrap and tech parts that they can carry.
-Establish a defensible pillbox on either side of the Vault entrance to act as the pilgrimage collection facility and only allow those permitted into the vault.

Governor’s Challenge:
Some of our people argue that the Spider-Ants could prove a grave threat to our holding, and have argued for an expedition to be launched into Emeralda Marsh to find the theoretical spider-ant queen and destroy it. They have argued, that in theory, if the spider-ants are similar to pre-war ants, such a move could throw them into chaos and eventually lead to their destruction. Others have stated that such an expedition is foolhardy, and an ant queen is only a theory, and there’s no proof of her existence. They have stated, that it would be better to simply continue improving fortifications, and that the spider-ants are hardly more of a threat than raiders or any other beast in the wasteland. How do we respond?
Governor's Challenge Solution:

Spoiler :

The gathered men shifted uneasily. Some stood near attention while others shuffled about. To one side, stood a group of twenty or so men from Grand Island. All the men had heard the stories about the spider ants, and they had even seen a body of one of the smaller ones that had been brought back. Many had described it as being alien and cold on sight, and tough to the touch. They had burned it soon after. Eventually one man stepped on a makeshift podium. It was Booker.

"Calm yerselves, gentlemen! What we go out to face today, though formidable, is still made of flesh, made of fragile sinews. Though they work in tandem, these brutes are still dumb beasts of the earth! They cannot hope to match us, for we will fight better, strike harder. We search for their nest, and kill everything we can! If they do not fall before, then surely they will learn to fear us, as is the natural order of things!"

The men began to cheer! Booker motioned for them to quiet down.

"Now, remember not to get too cocky. Remember they attack in swarms and they coordinate. It is imperative we maintain vigilance of our surroundings, lest they sneak up on us. They could come from above or below. Now, some of ya have torches, and we all have our guns. Don't burn every web or you'll set the whole place ablaze. Don't shoot yerselves or anyone else; ya'll know better. Stay together and after we get a ways in, we figure out where the nest is. If we don't find anything, we'll torch the place and come again another day. Alright, enough talk. We march for our future, for God, and for the NGC! Let's get these buggers dead! Move out!"

(200 citizens with laser weapons + 20 citizens from Grand Island with 1-h weapons.)

New Gulf Commonwealth's Orders (Storied)

Spoiler :

EXTERMINATION MISSION

"Now, keep yer eyes open for where they be comin' from.... Shhh, what's that noise? Shoot 'em!"

The NGC responds to the new menace of the spider ants by taking the fight to them. 200 men and women of the NGC, armed with laser weapons (160) and low tech-weapons (40), are going to hunting for the spider-ant queen with men from Grand Island (20 with 1-h guns) in the Emerald Marsh (~1-3 miles depending on terrain). If the queen(s) aren't killed, we'll set fire to the forest west of the river and come back another day to finish the job.
"D*&! it, Jerry, keep your eye open or you'll get yourself killed!"

"Think about it this way, there's a settlement waiting for us to take up or loot it. Why not a bit of both?"

If the assault mission on the spider ants is a major success, we need to follow that up by figuring out what left over at Haines Creek. if we can turn the ruins into an outpost or just loot the place, that's a win-win. Farmland and water is key, boys. More ammo don't hurt either.

"Keep a look out for the buggers. We may have done damage, but for all we know, more may be waiting someplace else."

"Well, Mr. Ryan, sir, these here spears and swords should be able to keep those buggers at bay."

Since we don't know how much ammo the assault will use up, we need to make sure we have back up weapons in case we run out of bullets or need to make a retreat. 40 oughta do it.
"Good job, Clint, you're doin' work that might save lives."

"Gotta replace the bullets at some point."

The NGC needs an munition production if it is going to protect itself. Bullets are the start. Someday, we'll be forging guns and who knows what else.

Map of Planned Expeditions

Spoiler :

I have once again lost internet access at home - orders will be up in 24 hours.

Excellent update EQ - looking forward to pirates of the Floridabean!

I REALLY want to see you use this as a weapon. :p

You have no idea how much I considered it :p The only reason I havent deployed it yet is I am trying to gather as much scrap as I can before it is all destroyed.

The Citizens Orders

A succession of terrible tragedies befell our people. But just as a knight who falls from his horse, we rise stronger. We learn from our mistakes, and we will take the most of this experience. Let us honor those who fell with a glorious new future. May their sacrifices were not in vain, and that you focus on your tasks, instead of debating about names, because there will be time for that later, but not now. For now, we will build a safer world for our children!

Professor's Challenge Solution

Spoiler :
The fairest way to resolve this situation is through a vote. If this fails, then the two names will be used, and we will call the beasts of Damncats Flions.

Expeditions and other related activities

Spoiler :

-Launch an expedition of 25 men to Archer. They will bring everything that is useful. (They will be armed with 5 Laser Guns, 5 2-H Guns and 15 1-H Guns)

-Launch another expedition to Alachua, with 20 men armed with 20 1-H guns. They will also look for useful things.

Both groups should avoid confrontation if possible, and must act in the most discreet manner possible, to avoid attracting any unwanted attention. Additionally, 5 men armed with 1 H guns will patrol the SE Hawthorne Rd, warning us any suspicious activity in the area.

Construction and other related activities

Spoiler :

-Build a Water Pumping and Purifying Station (-300 Scrap Parts, -8 Tech Parts)
This station will provide a constant supply of fresh water to the bunker, by using the Newnans lake.

-Build a Hydroponics Farm (-50 Scrap Parts, -2 Tech Parts)
With new production of water, surely it is time to start producing food. If planting outside fails again, the hydroponic farm will be a last resort, protected in the depths of the bunker.

-Farming Equipment (-100 Scrap Parts, -4 Tech Parts). Time to farm! This operation will be overseen by armed guards who will be always ready. If spies fail to identify future attacks, these guards will be the front line in the defense of the bunker.

-The remaining 50 Scrap Parts will be used to repair the bunker and to build at least a minimum of external fortification to protect the bunker and the farm on the surface.
The latest attacks have shown us that being prepared is essential in the defense of the community.

@Golden1Knight: Sorry if it was unclear, but to start proper farming outside of the bunker, you're going to need farming equipment.

Well I'd really like to start updating this afternoon or tomorrow, so get some orders in. At this point I have 8/10 sets needed to do so, so I probably will start updating today anyways.
