DominatrNES III: Order out of Chaos

There was an announcement being made at the Imperator's palace balcony. There was no bodyguards, due to the traitors that they are usually. It was a sign of a weak imperator to have those. Anyways, the imperator soon came up to the balcony to speak. " War-Men of our fair placend of Imperilus Maso. I have an new oprotunity to win glory outside of our home-placed. You see, tensions are rising between our trade partners of Ezra Deras Than and the REALLY-crazy-all-times of Sauromavia. Normally I would not make this offer and just support Ezra Deras Than when they go to war with the really-crazy-all-times. But we are getting known more of our craftsmen then our war-men and that has to stop. We would seem weak after we had just taken this placend from the weak former inhabitats. This is why I am offering full support to any inpependabands (mesoite word for mercinaries) that are going to Ezra Deras Than, mostly supplies and weapons for the journey and the wars against Ezra Deras Than. But I will give each of the bands the ability to keep most of the loot they get in the war and 3 chickens for spending in the city." Rexcracts said. Many war-men cheered at the sound of this, since they regard chicken as the best food ever, also the currency was food. Then he said " after the war against them ends of course." The crowed then got outraged. Many war-men were screaming at the imperator. One of them said " Why do we not get any chicken right NOW!!!" Rexcracts then got an look of disappointment on his face, and then responded with "Because if one of you died in the war, then you do not deserve chicken." Most of the crowd went quite, but the man that asked the question and a few war-men around him were still shouting. The War-Man then said "BUT NOTCHOS CROFTIA SAID THAT CHICKEN SHOULD BE EATEN BEFORE YOU EARN GLORY!!!" Rexcracts then responded in a annoyed tone " But this city isn't filled with your kind of heriticus sectium. If you want it so bad, then go back to
Notchos firtius heriticas croftia and ask the petty imperator there to give you 3 chicken."
Then the few unruly war-men that were still shouting shut up. Then the imperator said "The leaders of the inpependabands that take up this opportunity will be given words from strait of my mouth privately that will be an even bigger opportunity that will be activated after the war. There is nothing to talk about anymore, BEGONE" And so the Imperator went back into his palace, and the crowd dispersed. Soon no one was in the courtyard. Then it went back to a normal day in Meso, filled with plotters advancing their plans, but the one man who had the biggest goal? The imperator himself.

@Poketwo

If your currency is chickens, then couldn't people raise their own money through chicken breeding? Also, obligatory "don't count your chickens before they hatch" reference. :p

no, from what I know about most civilizations before currency, food was the equivalent to currency. It also happens that My civilization's religion has only one absolute rule: Chicken is the best food and must be eaten. It is just the highest form of currency there. Also, it controls itself due to chicken rotting, so the people who own chicken have to eat it before it rots. Otherwise, great loss of glory and respect they get.

Oh I see, I thought that you meant live chicken. And I believe what you are referring to is the barter economy, wherein anything can be traded for anything else. I like how your spin on it includes food as the primary currency.

I just updated the technology line on the first page. It now features a few more techs and soon you will be able to build improvements. Two that ave been revealed so far are Temple and Granary. The way these work is you purchase the improvement for a set amount of gold (will be posted) and they have a chance at generating free statistical boosts for your empire each turn. In addition, i included Matematics as a "slingshot" tech, as in the first few civs to learn Mathematics get a free tech or two.

I sent my orders. I had other issues which interfeared with sending them in sooner. But anyways, here's some more info about Ndriakoro Culture.

Ndriakoro: Mythos

The Ndriakoro believe in a multiude of gods. The principal gods are listed below.

Osifuzna: He is the god of birth, life, and death. He is generally depicted as having the torso, ears, eyes, skin, and hind legs of a rabbit while having the beak, talons, and wings of a vulture. The wings in particular are of interest because each wing is twice as large as the rest of Osifuzna's Body. He is prayed to whenever somebody is wanting more children, struggling with sickness, or when somebody wants to place a curse on another being.

Zobulante: Is the goddess of water, weather, and agriculture. She's got the legs of a frog, the head of a crocodile, and the body and sabers of a hippo. She's wildly unpredictable and can bring plentiful harvests or cause disasters like droughts and flash floods. It's said that when frogs croak, they are delivering messages from Zubulante herself.

Umzeli: Is the god of the Ground, Rocks, Minerals, and Material Weath. He's depicted as a golden naked mole rat carrying bags of gold, gems, silver, and other valuables in little coin purses on a belt. He's prayed to whenever somebody is wanting to become rich and be financial successful. According to the Ndriakoro, earthquakes are belived to be cause by Umzeli mining deep within the Earth.

Zobulante: Is the god of diplomacy and war. He's thought of as being a mild mannered and calm pangolin with a back covered in arrowheads. However when angry, Zobulante's skin starts bleeding and the arrows on it's back start shooting out. It also is said to be able to breath a poisonous firestorm out of it's mouth. People will pray to this god whenever they seek to establish positive relations with outsiders or when wanting victory in battle.

Nabuwa: The turtle goddess of fate and creation. The only thing she ever does is very slowly but constantly moving forward. She often is shown carrying Umzeli upon her back. People will pray to Nabuwa if they wish somebody good (or bad) luck in the future. Although she's slow, smaller than some domestic housecats, and doesn't possess the powers that the other gods have, she's seen as the most powerful out of all the gods and goddesses. She's not hurt by anything and can't be stopped. If something gets in her way, the object just turns into a mound of sand and blows away in the wind.

Zembe: Is the dragonfly goddess of day, night, and nature. She always flies with a huge spinning orb on her back which weighs her down. This orb is gold on one side. The golden side shines with a blinding brightness and radiance. The other half of the orb has a shiney silver coloration. The orb which is stuck on Zembe's back causes her to fly much slower than normal. She's often shown as flying next to Nabuwa.

Chapter Five: Thirst for Conquest (Y340)

The consequences of the crop failures forty years ago were most evident in the unfortunate case of Lapaz. Years of focusing on agriculture and repairing the confidence of their people came with an opportunity cost that left them vulnerable in other areas. They were attacked by their own brethren, Carta. After years of scheming and plotting, Carta swooped in and sacked Labohka. Most Lapacites were indifferent to this conquest; Cartans and Lapacites already spoke the same language and had very similar cultures. The Lapacites who preferred Lapaz's relaxed trade policy and hands off leadership set up their own refugee state, Astraz on the coast by Carta.

Carta's neighbor, Incabra was also making power moves, a bit more quietly though. They built up their military to the point where it rivaled that of Skur. Incabra was slowly becoming the most populous civilization in Mehureeoh. Incabra finalized a trade partnership with Ghask, who they now shared borders with. Ghask was also making moves, particularly in the technology race. Ghask managed to learn the Warrior Code, placing them right in line with the competitive Butaliaites and Fireni. Perhaps the best accomplishment of Ghask during this period, however, was the completion of the temple of As-Tarks called Mogsiana, bringing the sophisticated Ghaskan polytheistic belief system to the attention of all civilizations in the region.

The situation on the Golbari river simmered down for once. Skur and Ishkant rested on an uneasy ceasefire, still prepared to strike if need be. The Ishi were hard at work developing the former Golban lands to prepare for any ambushes in the future. With Ishkant controlling the river fork, Illdira was slowly becoming irrelevant in the grand scheme of trade. Most of the trade on the Golbari was done between Firen and Ishkant exclusively. Firen was becoming a powerhouse, with their position in the trade scene and their military upgrades. However, they were still chasing Butalia in technology. Firen also took the liberty to scout some lands, and after journeying into the desert, they discovered an aggressive desert civilization called Ingojor.

A threat to the Butaliaite lead in technology turned out to be Himatgar Fatomi's thirst for conquest. Butalia focused less on technological improvement and more on military matters. Together with the power hungry Rhonolans, they destroyed the Haexar civilization and quickly took over their lands. It became apparent that Butalia still has a need for military focus after Butalia suffered from a series of raids by the Drateni. Draten did not conquer any land, but they did loot, rape and pillage, leaving chaos behind them and a shocked Butaliaite populace.

Sauromavia's thirst for conquest was evident when they launched a large scale invasion of their mortal enemy, Ez Dera Than. The result was a quick and merciless conquest; Ez Dera Than was caught completely off guard as they were expecting an attempt at a cultural conquest. Ez Dera Than was not completely wiped off the map, however, as fleeing Ez Dera Thani set up a state called Aisho a bit out of reach of the Sauromavian grip. Adnrophagi turned out to be a fantastic investment, as it helped the Sauromavian assault considerably. In fact, Adnrophagi grew beyond a fortress and into a bustling city, almost half the size of May-Vosla.

Up the river, Meso was playing catch-up. However, their technological improvement may be halted, as the Kap-Esh are hungry for land and slaves. Som-Esh to the north of Kap-Esh was keeping an eye on their rowdy neighbor for Ishalin, to keep them updated on any occurrences. Ishalin itself, while not appearing as a threat, was very much a powerful civilization and quietly taking the region by storm using diplomatic tactics. Ishalin was raking in profits by selling technological advancements to their neighbors and charging a hefty price. Ishalic missionaries were quietly infiltrating neighboring societies. Part of the reason they were so successful was because they spent years constructing the Temple of Kijisjik, a wondrous cultural measure. Much to Sauromavia's dismay, Kerchan was showing signs of a full conversion to Shadhism. Ishalin continued its usual scouting, this time making an effort to stretch farther east. To their north, they discovered Atarn and Oskrol, two young budding states, and also Ropa Bana to the far east situated on the banks of the Robandi river.

Ishalin's neighbor, Veshelard, was deeply entrenched in a tense stalemate with Ndriakoro, who appeared a bit thirsty for conquest. Ishalin was on Veshelard's side, offering their support both technologically and economically. Ndriakoro's young neighbor, Garzuli was showing signs of aggression towards Ndriakoro, so Malame Ndria found himself in quite the predicament.

From the banks of the K'lish, to the sands where the Drateni roam, it became apparent that a thirst was coming upon the Blessed Lands: the thirst for conquest. Civilizations all over the region were devoting a lot of effort to bulking up their military and plotting their attacks and tactics. Forty years removed from the great crop failures, it appears that most civilizations were on their feet and realizing that there is power and land to be harnessed. Without power, an empire is just a name on a map.

Arrived home after a weekend away just in time to see this. :)

Resurrection of the old order :

While the barbarians had ravaged the old capital of Golba, it was essential that the old order be set to the correct order. Hence forth, Prince Kulzeq, the son of the Goth Urglan would be taking charge of the district of Golba, on the 6th fullmoon, on the Year 340.
The main focus would be to bring back the glory of the old kingdom, utilizing its central location on the confluence of the 2 rivers. The fertile Golba plains were known for their fields of barley and wheat, and its ravines, full of fishes for the many mouths of the Ishi .
A great fire was lit, mourning the ones that have fallen in battle, and then cheering for the same, for now rest with the glory of vanquishing the enemy. A moment was taken for remembering the fallen nobles and the several thousand civilians of the old golban empire.

Prince Kulzeq, announced several projects, that his realm would now focus on.
Primary : Slaves or snaga. The recently established camp at the capital of the Old Golba, would need several workforce, in the form of slaves, for their was much to be done. The source ? The barbarians of the Skur would be good fit. There would be a suitable reward for the one that captures a handful.
The secondary target would be to set up a new camp just at the river fork, which would be known as Coombe's Landing, in honor of the first casualty in the Ishi Intervention war. Coombe's Landing would be primarily a economic depot for the collection and storage of food grains. Efforts would be put in to develop it as a viable trading center, (for merchants who can sail up and down the rivers, at a later stage).

Amid much cheering thus ended the first speech of Prince Kulzeq, henceforth to be known as Goth Kulzeq.

To Draten
From Firen

The Butaliaites, who you recently attacked, are under our protection. While we would surely prefer to keep things peaceful, we will not accept anymore attacks against our allies. Any further acts of aggression towards them will be evidence that you are incapable of picking on someone your own size. You have been warned.

I'll be dropping from this nes for a while because of school.
