CivRev has arrived for the iPhone/iPod Touch!

$5? Nice!

Didn't even bother trying the Lite version. What a pleasant surprise.

:goodjob:

Wow! This iPhone version looks much better than DS version. Only if I had iPhone... :crazyeye:

It's for iPod Touch too, if you have it. :)

The $4.99 price is only for the first 48 hours btw. After that, it's $9.99.

Aww, crap. I'm short on plastic cash until Friday. Still, $5 or $10 - not much difference, really. I D/Led the Lite version. Play is a little clumsy, without the DS touchpad, but it works well for the platform. A lot of new graphics, though I see they've used the battle graphics from the DS.

Looks pretty nice. :)

And here I was about to say that they underpriced it, that it should have been $10-15.
iPod Touch is the closest thing I have to a console, and will probably stay that way (unless Apple really does come out with some tablet sometime).

Ive got it! :D

Makes a great addition to SimCity, Tetris, etc.

I n otice this is the highest rated paid app, full stop.

I'm definitely enjoying this game and officially have a relapse of the "one-more-turn" syndrome. It's pretty much a port of the DS game, which isn't all that different from the console versions, aside from the graphics. They definitely do look good on the iPhone though.

A few things that are missing/would be nice:
1. Better movement: it's pretty hard to move units past your view. It'd be nice to be able to zoom out and still be able to move your units. Another option would be to select the city you would like to move your units to.
2. Replay: the DS version had the end of game replay; one of the few things they didn't include
3. Customization: Would be nice to customize leader/city names. You could do it for the console versions though not on the DS. It's kinda annoying though, when choosing names, they always preface the name with some descriptor "the extraordinary city of" or something along the lines of that. Problem is, it's too long and you can't see the city name.
4. Earth map/scenario. The consoles got an Earth map via DLC. I always enjoy playing on Earth.

Despite a few qualms here and there, the game is definitely a great buy for any fan of Civ (esp. Civ Rev). If you've never played Civ though... (no Civilopedia)

Caution! It's broke if you have an early gen ipod. It keeps locking up on mine. Make sure you try the lite version first.

Actualy, you can zoom in and out. Just put your two fingers together place them on the screen and separate (doing the opposite of the pinching, which will zoom in the map)

I tried doing that, but when I zoom out, the character (along with most map details) disappear, where I can't actually move the unit to a tile past the original view. Am I just doing it wrong?

If I zoom out slightly, those units and cities are still visible.

I have found that if you touch and drag a unit, it will not center, allowing you to move the unit better.

It would be nice if the goto command lets player to choose a city to go to.

Does anyone know the release date for CivRev for iphone/ipod in europe? I can't seem to find any information about this anywhere. My computer is being repaired, so this might help reduce my boredom level these days.. :)

I agree with the movement problem. It gets frustrating when you have to move a lot of units and particularly so on the ocean.

I'd like to see a random map generator that allows one to choose terrain types and sizes.

What really bugs me though is that I can't find any way to delete obsolete units! As soon as I got the Manhattan Project I got a free ICBM that I could not dispose of. Every turn it just kept blinking away. I seem to have all the other controls figured out but have no idea how to dispose of or upgrade units I don't want.

Anyone have a clue how to do this?

Thanks!

Non-military (such as settlers and caravans) units should have a sleep option. I have to click through every turn with settlers that don't have an escort, like Jason_Els's nuke.

Does anyone know if you can culture-flip a capital? I have a game where I am in a position to.

Also, when barbs take over a capital, does it burn and die or turn into a village? Is it possible for barbs to win a domo victory? Can I steal the capital back and get myself a domo victory?
