There is arguably nothing worse for immersion than seeing an American Camel Archer, Korean Janissary, or Polynesian Companion Cavalry. This needs to be changed and I have THE solution...
CS unique units - Militaristic City-States should have their own Unique Units which they can provide their allies every 20 turns and which friendly Civs can purchase off them as mercenaries.
By this I mean that Almaty provides a UU that is distinctly "Almatian" and Sidon provides a UU that was historically really from Sidon, and so forth.
These units should be very specialised and expensive (both to buy and extra upkeep).
Who wants to help investigate the background of each militaristic CS to see what unique military unit they are known for??
