I was just looking over some (very) old threads on Poly, and I found this one. http://apolyton.net/showthread.php/181069-War-of-the-Ring-beta. It's the thread I started when Catfish first released War of the Ring. Most of the old gang weighed in. It made me a little sad that so many have drifted away, and what a ghost town this forum has become. Well, all things come to an end, and Civ 2 outlasted many of them. :( Cheers.

I don't think I'd yet joined when that particular thread was started, but I do remember most of the old members back from the late '90's into the new Milleneum. Sarsstock, Jim Panse, Kobra/Eivind IV, Nilat, Saladin, Academia2000, Dario, and Alicia Covelina were ones that pop to mind I quite miss, but I'm sure I've forgotten the actual handles of many (if not the actual posters themselves). I admit I had never met luminary figures like Captain Nemo or infamous ones like Soundwave myself, only heard of their impact on the community. Those were good days, though, and I found, despite having larger, more vibrant communities, Civ 3-5 never really caught on with me.

I see where the nostalgia is coming from, the passion of that lot of dedicated scenario creators/players/history geeks was pretty inspiring. That said some of my favourite scenarios were ones released since 2008, laments of for civilization's death have been offered more than once in the past, and despite the game's surprisingly persistant afterlife the game is nearly 20 years old and that is a lot of time for things to change. I was a kid when civ 2 came out; you guys have managed to entertain me and stoke in me the dimming flames of interest in new historical subjects for such a long time now. I'm not quite convinced that this is the end of it all. That said, I would be very happy to see more activity here as well.

I am glad someone is still making scns, even if I'm not :)

I will once make a scenario about my work at the old scary factory I worked at :D

:bump: Zombie time!!
Speaking of nostalgia, does anyone remember the name of that CDG website? I've been poking around the Wayback machine but i cant remember it's address...
Found evo-games though, unfortunately none of the threads work....:(
