Historical events in Civ IV terms

G.W.Bush meets meet Saddam and tries to select oil in the trade screen, but:
"Surely, you must be joking" - its redded out

Bill Clinton meets Boris Jelcin in 1989 and:
Clinton: Your civics arent cool, you should adopt free speech, free trade, free religion and emancipation like all the cool civs, police state and state property isn´t cool:
Jelcin: hmm ok
Clinton: also your vassal states are scaring us
Jelcin: ok, we will free them

.... leading to collapse of soviet union
Wow... someone REALLY needs to revisit their history book. Let me just give you some starting points.
1989, the leader of the USSR was Mikhail Gorbachev, not Yeltsin. Mikhail took office in 1985, and held it until 1991.
1989, the president of the USA was George HW Bush, not Clinton. Clinton took office in 1993 and held it until 2001.
1991, the year the USSR went down.
Boris Yeltsin was the first president of post USSR Russia, and he came to power in 1991, after the collapse of the USSR.

Partitions of Poland:

Charlie, Freddie and Cathy SOD'd Poland (which apparently exists). Thrice.

About 1960 in Liverpool, Churchill rolled a culture event. A young songwriter, JohnPaulGeorgeRingo, had written a heartrending ballad. Churchill took a risk and invested money from his treasury, and got lucky - a 450 :culture: advantage (and lordy knows, the city needed it ;)).

Churchill, through some evil Machiavellian manipulation was able to spin a minor Golden Age out of this event. Years later, he also invented "retro".

glad this got :bump:'d :D

I got nothing, though, but it's nice to see this back :)
And oldskald's one is great

Rorke's Drift: Cetshawayo sent his SOD to pillage one of Victoria's cottages, which was only guarded by 1 unit. That unit was a fortified Redcoat with several promotions, while the SOD consisted of Impis, Swordsmen and Axemen.

NATO is a very friendly bunch of Defensive pacts.

Nah, those would have been broken with the U.S.A. attacking random countries around the world.

After Ancient Egypt had the pyramids, a great prophet (Moses) was born and left the Egyptian city and went to another city, crossing a river and joined another city. The Egyptian forces advanced against Hittite forces.

I agree we don't need to be in the places we are in, but it was hardly ever "random".

Oh, sorry. Should have put a :sarcasm: in that post. Of course the American presidents aren't rolling dice deciding who they should attack...
By 'random', I meant they are quite well spread.

Nice bump you did ther :)

Personally, I think we have more than enough America bashing threads... If your country was in our position, you'd be criticized just as often, and you'd likely get sick of it too.

Anyone got one for Christmas?

Yes. Christmas is 'We love the king day!' all over the world.

Tea Party= Let's use specialists instead of the cottage economy! Turn up money slider to stop deficit spending! We can't afford any more "1XCheap Christmas Gifts" for 1 GPT from china, even if they give 1 Happy each!

Occupy Wall Street= Corporations have too much influence and cost too much maintenance! Turn up the money slider and stop spreading corporations! We can't afford more maintenance!

Republicans= We need to support the army and corporations. Spread Mining INC and build more troops to stop those middle-eastern civs who keep sending spies! We can get Europe to vassalize (or better, influence their independent cities after collapse) after their debt crisis and get a Domination victory!

Democrats= We need to support new subculture movements and ourselves first! Delete units we forgot about in other nations and too far to bring back, and raise the culture slider for culture victory! Hire artists, support health!

Steve Jobs=Great Merchant/Great Artist. Maybe even both. Or a great scientist->future tech.
Bill Gates=Great Merchant, you've got to admit, he's made a "steal"
Al Gore=Great Scientist, tried to bulb enviromentalism, until player spends turns weighing increased corporation maintinance

And we're off with the 2012 campaign!

First off we have the Texas Republic Conservatives, formerly lead by George Bushes, now lead by Rick Perry! He hasn't done well on the national debates, and has a long lasting -1 for that.
Marching out of Boston is Mitt Romney! Not yet ready to accept complete leadership of the Tea Party Militia Boston has been stuck building lately, his is known for his flip flopping of civics!
Then we have Ron Paul hailing form Pittsburg! He has hospitals, but he says NO to anything not in the constitution, so NO universal healthcare.
Machelle Bachmann from the Twin Cities is also a strong contestant. She won the battle for Iowa Straw Poll with a 5%-Chance Tea Party Militia.
Herman Cain from Kansas City is another contestant. Moving his settler from Georgia northward, he is know as a self-made man by being his own worker and owner! His campaign aides are busy defending his HQ from Sexual Allegation units which have lots of strenght! He needs to bombard them before he can defeat them.
John Huntsman is another great condidate form Utah. He has invested some time on the Twitter Dimention, and it has paid off!

Most of them are marching troops towards Iowa Caucus, seeking to win the battle because it will give the winner lots of loot. Other important battles will occur at Vermont and South Carolina!
