If someone had asked me to guess, I would have thought Czechia was quite a bit wealthier than Greece

Chinese provinces by HDI

Xianggang is highest, at 0.938. The best province (not counting cities like Macau, Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai) is Zhejiang at 0.831. The worst province is Guizhou at 0.647. The worst division is Tibet at 0.616.

All these East Asia maps that don't include Okinawa tick me off.

No, it has a smaller GDP and smaller GDP per capita as well. We are rich, you see ;)

If we had such a long coast with all that wonderful islands attracting tourists from all around of Europe, we could boast about our GDP too :p ;)

I'd say we're a bit more industrialized and have a much lower public debt (yours is approaching 100% of the GDP, 2nd biggest in the EU after Italy). You have much stronger services sector (mostly tourism) which is helping your economy a lot, however.

The Czech Rep. rather sucks in attracting tourists - Prague is the only part of the country which is properly advertised and has the tourist infrastructure needed to attract wealthier visitors.

Oh, the map: public debt per capita
