Early Tech victory

I realise there are many in-depth articles about this subject. I'm after a brief overview since I understand many of the ideas involved - I'm just having trouble implementing and understanding the timescale (and not getting distracted). I've also got a bit stuck in a rut with how I play since - while I specialise on a VC I tend to approach it in an 'all round' kind of way winning comfortably on Emperor; I'd like to shake things up a bit.

So my idea for this thread was to ask for a kind of overview from you science buffs out there. So, obviously, in terms of science beelining science buildings is a must as is getting rationalism early for the +50% on research agreements (along with cultivating RAs along the way).

What should I be aiming for in terms of :c5science: pt? E.g. by 0BC have x:c5science:pt etc. Roughtly how many RAs should I be trying to get? I like collecting lots of SPs - probably much more than I need.

As always there will be situational constraints but I realised my game was lacking as I got a science victory in turn 280 with Spain and I flukely had both BC and GBR - which seems a bit pathetic when I read about deity victories around the 200turn mark ;)

Things to take into account when going for fastest tech victory:

1. Map size - the larger the map the faster the tech victory (more AI's for RA's and gold generation)
2. Difficulty - the higher the difficulty the more science You'll get from AI's side of the RA and more science from CS and Scholaristicism. But also you might not be able to build the necessary wonders.

So try going for the largest map and emperor (so the AI is good at generating beakers but not impossible to get a couple of scintific crucial wonders) and then try out the strategies that show the fastest way to get it. You can also use nations that have some scientific bonus (especially on larger maps Korea and Maya would kick ass)

Let me know the results :)

As you say it's all swings and roundabouts. This guy on the HOF site got a science victory in 90BC Huge, Marathon, Great Plains Settler playing as Askia and that is with no mods and playing to the HOF rules which are very strict. The guys name is Krakedhalo.

Yeah, it's a pre G&K and on old patch (where the tech tree for science vict was way shorter). You cannot give it as an example at the moment.

@ t.100 you should be having around 200 bpt if you want to finish @ around 200 turns. Don't think post patch RAs will change much, i invest in maritimes instead. You should also be finishing Oracle at this time, for free secularism.

Tradition is advantageous. Going for Order's Factories is another important element, next priority is full Rationalism.

Your aim is to break 1000+ bpt asap. And that can only be achieved with certain population numbers.

I can suggest GOTM 42 for reference (by tommynt) on how to achieve super early science/diplo win.

I would love to know how to achieve 200bpt at turn 100! I usually have around 100bpt and don't really start catching up to the AI (Immortal) until I get universities etc.

Yes, I would also like to know how to get 200bpt by turn 100. Can anyone provide an answer to this, please?

Is this standard speed? Seems an awful lot of bulbs by turn 100. My only guess is Great Library to Philosophy then rush NC and beeline education and rush University

It does seem like a lot of beakers. My average is about a little over 100 by turn 100. But maybe I'm missing something? My guess is that it's more than just rushing philo, NC and universities; but that's certainly part of it.

Moriate: A quick rundown for those of us youtube challenged at work would be really nice.

Cheers.

tommy plays a very aggressive style and take a lot of (calculated)chances that most of us just don't think about it or simply afraid to do. He sells and DoW frequently and get the most of the AI.

For more ''standard'' apporaches, finishes around 220-230 is pretty acceptable for all levels. It's better to get between 6 and 8 cities for maximum benefits. Rush buying science buildings will grantly accelerate the processus.

At this level a single militaristic cs can provide you enough units in the middle run to concentrate on buildings and wonders even more. RAs are weak and gold should serve to ally cs and rush buy science buildings most of the time. Sign RAs only if you have both PT and policy.

Scouting is important in the beginning. More sooner you find cs more sooner you get quests and find AIs to sell luxuries and ressources surplus to rush buy settlers and workers.
