Silver, definitely - high (initial) price and no processing required. I actually try to find a good silver producing spot straight away, really helps in the beginning stages to accumulate cash

Me ---- Cigars and Rum.. Also if you're in the middle of big war without a way to export them, their the easiest to get rid of in stressful times.

Whatever is available. Silver is always good, but in my current game my cities are awash with fur, so with the Expert Trappers I can generate lots of cash.
