Theming Bonus List

Thanks, kimadactyl... this is very useful.

One question, though, The museum bonus confuses me? All three?

So when we say different civs we mean different civs in game, not real life right? This would then require trading of great works.

There are three requirements for theming bonuses of museums

1) Same kind (either both great works of art or both artifacts)
2) Same era
3) Both from the city owner or both from foreign civs.

If your pair fits only 1 requirement you get 0 bonuses
if your pair fits 2 requirements you get +1 as a bonus
if your pair fits all 3 requirements you get +2 as a bonus

The max theming bonus is +4

I am byzantine. I have a museum with an ancient Greece coin and a ancient Korean bead. I would get +4 theming bonus.

The only time the artifact's civ needs to be the same is if it is your own.
1 ancient byzantine coin and 1 ancient byzantine bead would give +4 theming bonus.

Are you sure you don't have the aesthetic finisher that doubles your bonuses?

I didn't even open aesthetics.

Well there's really something wrong.
I have a game here with tons of pair of artifacts of the same era and different civilizations (not mine) and all I get is +2 bonus.

Moreover there isn't a single other instance where a theming bonus nets you more points than the number of works involved, including wonders.

Can you post your save game?

Yeah the max theming bonus is definitely plus 2, as I and others have said in the thread and as the game code shows that I linked to earlier. The only way you are getting +4 is through a glitch or Aesthetics.

Unless internet changes the display? I have never gotten it but I would imagine it doesn't change the base and just changes a modifier.

There is nothing in the code to provide a +4 bonus to museums unless you've finished Aesthetics or you're playing France and the museum is in Paris. The normal maximum is definitely +2.

Woops, I totally did have Aesthetics, just reloaded that game and checked. I don't even remember unlocking it.

I'm stuck with trying to get Louvre to 16. I'm currently playing as France and have it to plus 8, have aesthetics unlocked fully, and the following themed:

Persia - Art - Renaissance
China - Art - Medieval
Arabia - Dig - Classical
France - Dig - Ancient

Does the France ancient have to be another major civ? what about city-states?

No, Louvre allows your own civ to contribute one of the items.

My guess is that it's not in your capital.

Kimadactyl, et al, would you say the following is correct? I merely want to take Kim's work and adjust it for those either not going through the Aesethics Policy and/or have France as a Civ. Thanks, btw, Kim...

If NOT going through the Aesthetics Policy Tree, the list is the following; if you ARE going through the Aesthetics Policy Tree, double all bonuses. And, if you are riding France as your Civ, then you take the bonuses below and x4, but, the additional bonus only applies if the building is in Paris:

[w] - writing
[a] - work of art
[m] - music
[d] - artifact (dig)

National Wonders
Oxford University; [w] [w]; Diff Eras, Other Civs; +2
Hermitage; [a] [a] [a]; Diff Eras, Diff. Civs; +3

World Wonders - Art or Digs
Sistine Chapel; [a] [a]; Same Era, Same Civs; +2
Louvre; [a] [a] [d] [d]; Diff Eras, Diff Civs; +4

World Wonders - Music
Broadway; [m] [m] [m]; Same Era, Same Civ; +3
Sydney Opera House; [m] [m]; Diff Eras, Same Civ; +2

World Wonders - Writing
Great Library; [w] [w]; Diff Eras, Diff Civs; +2
Globe Theater; [w] [w]; Same Eras, Same Civ; +2

Buildings
Museum; [a,d] [a,d]; Same Type, Same Civ, Same Era; +1 for 2, +2 for all 3.

Non-themable slots

Broadcast Tower [m]
Cathedral [a, d]

Yes, I think that is correct, although you may note that the France extra bonus only applies if the building is in Paris.

there is a guy on the general board who wants me to send him the link to this thread.
Cant do from phone so posting this so he can find it.

You have the museum bonus wrong. It's +4 for YOUR civ same era OR +4 for DIFFERENT civs that aren't you same era.
