I can't remember ever seeing this. Two civilizations I have not met are involved in a war. One captures the other's capital and suddenly... (see attached image).

...the 'empire split'

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=517557

Well, I agree that this is an early split... But as a matter of fact, you don't need to have destroyed a Civ for this kind of split to happen. The only situation when it canNOT happen is when there are already 7 active Civs, i.e. not empty slot for the newly split Civ.

Yeah! I know the effect and many times I deliberately cause it by capturing a capital. What I find more surprising in this particular situation is that I didn't do a thing. I haven't met those civs.

Happens in my games from time to time. As long as they're big enough to meet the requirements for a split, it will happen. If you'd like to see it happen frequently, just play with 1 or 2 cities.

145 Production is something I haven't seen before. And look at all that pollution remaining despite building mass transit, recycling center and a nuclear plant!

Rail on water is a well known trick. I will mostly only use it to balance out food by railing some fish, so the city isn't in a constant boom/bust cycle.
