Umm, can you explain it a bit more? Does it mean that the improvements will do what Socialists think they would do, or is it something completely different?

The map is divided into two sections: The Socialist, rich, democratic and utopian south and the Capitalist, opressive and anti-utopian north.

I know this is not a political forum but I must throw in my 2 cents.
You say the south is "Socialist, rich, democratic and utopian".
A few observations from the biq the Socialist capital is called "Marx City" Marx was not Democratic he was an ultra authoritarian.

On a personal note I'm a libertarian socialist and IMHO Marx was not a socialist he was an authoritarian %$#%^.

Marx was never a national administrator, he was the Socialist philosopher of the 19th century with the large beard who was born in Prussia, Germany in 1818 and who died in 1883....as far I am aware there has not been any other Socialist Marx. Perhaps you are thinking of a different Marx?

P.S. I to those hoping to observe screenshots, not gonna happen, my screenshot files are bitmaps (.bmp), Sorry

EDIT: I am a libertarian Socialist too.

Well, though it is indeed not a political forum I feel the need to throw a penny back at your 2 cents. :D

Marx developed two distinct philosophies. The first was socialism - where people are forced to take no more than they need and to contribute to society as much as they could. Note that Marx never intended this to be an end in itself, but just a step in the direction of communism. Communism was, as an ideal form, non-authoritarian and indeed, fully compatible with the idea of democracy. Also note that although socialism is highly authoritarian, the feudal systems that it was intended to replace were also fairly authoritarian, and therefore would have not resulted in any significant loss of liberty for the populace.

Additionally, it should be recognised that whatever uses Marx's manifesto has been put to and however wrong or evil you may feel his political views are, he was still a brilliant sociologist. His studies on alienation and exploitation, drawing on the work of Adam Smith, are still as valid today as they were when he wrote them. Perhaps it is for this that Swiss_Mercenari honoured him with a city in the 'utopian south'?

That is all true. I applaud you for writing what I was too lazy to write:D .

Unfortunately, Marx's philosophies that were incorporated into the 800 page Communist Manifesto were corrupted and exploited by Vladimir Lenin so that he would appear as a populist. The Bolshevik party, since its creation in 1903, had come under heavy fire from the Monarchists and their imperialist associates, and Lenin was not a kind man. The Russian populace supported his ascension to power in 1917 because they were tired of the explotative and tyrannical Monarchy that existed within the nation at the time. They were tricked into supporting an authoritarian because he pledged to uphold Marx's utopian ideology. Sad that he created one of the most opressive regimes in history, the USSR:( . Mongolia, Laos, Cuba, China, Vietnam and Belarus are communist currently, however none of the regimes that exist within these nations are as despotic as the Soviet regime in the USSR. I suppose Marx's attempt at a utopian society may never be fufilled.

On another note, this scenario is simplistic as the South. I achieved a conquest victory in 1972 after observing an uber-production increase. One word: Tanks. I suggest you create in great amounts, for they will annihilate anything the AI will create until Mechs. First there was Pax Russia from 1900-1954. In 1954 I declared war and from 1954-1959 I took all of their cities except 3 in the far north. I observed peace from 1959-1970 and in 1970 declared war again. Mansion city only fell after a tank army and 22 other tanks attacked it. My largest city achieved size 45 BTW.

Not to be Rude but Calling Marx Brilliant is a strech. None of his philociphies have ever been pratical and they never achieve the aim of alieviating the peoples suffering, in Fact they do quite the oposite. Communism and Socialism Dont work Because They Require Big Goverment, And Everybody Knows that the bigger goverment gets the more ineffecent it becomes. That is why Socialized Medicine has Failed almost every where. So it amazes me that people still want Socialized progams in The United States, Since our goverment is hardly small. people no social system or goverment can solve all your problems so stop waiting for them to. It is not the Goverments Job to Babysitt us.
