Handsome Jack as a playable Civilization

Hello guys, I'm kind of an old lurker in the civfanatics forums. Saw a few of users creations and I was inspired to make my own civilization idea. And it is to introduce Borderlands 2 in a way to Civilization 5. And what better way to do it other than adding the villain, Handsome Jack himself as a leader who will rule Pandora in a civilization like environment?

I have posted this on the steam workshop, but I have figured out I would post it into here and get more in touch with the community as this seems like a fairly good community to get in touch with.

This mod adds all Borderlands 2/Borderlands 1 locations as City names, his capital being Opportunity as you know. That is his main city in Borderlands 2. And it adds a few cool music from borderlands 2 to give it that feel. And every unit as the Hyperion adjective into it for the same reason

So let's start with the mod itself:

His Unique ability is +2 Gold and +2 Science from every strategic resource, Engineer Specialists provide +2 Production. I'm still upgrading as I go though. But I feel like this is less bland now.


Unique Unit:

GUN Loader, it replaces the Infantry and it has the same strength but it is a ranged unit and not a melee unit. And it ignores terrain cost as it is a robot unit. Now an Archer Unit


Unique Building:

Defensive Bunker, replaces the Observatory and it's a barracks+arsenal mix, giving you defense and XP at the same time.

Hm. Okay, the GUN Loader's fairly interesting, but I'm not sure why it couldn't be a Tank/Modern Armour replacement with a few cool Robot bits. The Observatory replacement's nice. However that UA is a) incredibly bland, and b) not really in keeping with the rest of the Civ. If it was, say, something along the lines of this, it might be a bit better:-

Strategic Resources provide +1 :c5gold: Gold and +1% :c5production: Military Unit Production bonus per 5 :c5citizen: Population in the City working them. +1% :c5gold: Gold bonus in the :c5capital: Capital for each Strategic Resource Tile in the Empire.
 
He said he is planning to change the current UA. Right now, however, it's what's within his reach. Most don't focus on Lua first for their first few Civs, Scapegrace.

Yep, that's what I said. My original plan was +2 Production from every scientific building and maybe +1 gold from every strategic resource. But I wasn't sure on how I would do it so I went with something simple for now

Alright, thank you for your feedback. I thought of a tank/modern armor replacement but it just doesn't make sense for that unit to do so as that's not how it was in the base borderlands game, so an infantry replacement is the best thing I could think of. The Unit is temporary because I have a plan on making a "Constructor" Unit that makes gun loader every 3 turns if it is ordered to do so but we will see what we can do for now
 
I can help you with +2 Production from Scientific Buildings and +1 Gold from Strategic Resources. Personally I'd add a +1 Science to Strategic Resources as well.
 
I really like the bunker, and I think the UA fits him nicely. Make sure to give him an over-the-top tendency for deceptiveness.

Minor tidbit, but I think his UA's name should be changed to a quote of his, something like (The Moral of the Story). Rich Psychopath just sounds awkward.

AI is fairly hostile but I did make him exactly the way Handsome Jack would preform in a civ game.

I could change the name yeah. It's just a quick thought really
 
Posted a new update just now based on your guys feedback, I felt like the UA was bland myself so I gave it a bit of shine, I'm still going to upgrade more into it tho :) plus a few bug fixes and adding Jack to the civ wiki
