Information on making of SMAC/X?

Is there any information "out there" on the making of SMAC other than the (excellent) design notes in the manual itself? I've found one podcast interview with Brian Reynolds about it from a couple of years ago and one interview here that's more about Civ 2. Is there anything else, interviews, articles etc.?

You might search for alpha.owo archives. That's the oldest source for SMAC information that I know of. It contains remarks from beta testers and developers.
