Beyond Sid

I could if I had espionage....

Nobody even has espionage, so can't even steal it using the diplomat.

And you can't flip the capitals.

AH, yeah, lack of espy would prevent that. I know you can't flip the capitals, but heck, you prolly have enough cash to buy everything *but* the capitals...

Anyway, impressive work, mate :b:, surely is up there with Aeson's "So cold..."
-

Quick question though, do you think this game might actually have been (even ;) ) more difficult if the AI wouldn't have been on a cost factor 1? Let's say on 3. ( because for example it would have had less chance of building obsolete units in the ancient era)
-

Btw: lot's of 'Poly's around I see ;)

2039-
Raze Lugdunum (I see another Celt settler-I want to first kill the Zulu, since the Celts are the ones helping me prevent a culture victory)
Kill 2 rifleman
lose 4 riflemen

Kill 2 Zulu galleons
1 frigate
lose 4 galleon

Kill 1 Celt pikeman

It looks like all the action will come down to this continent that has no terrain improvements.....This will be interesting, in that it will be hard chasing down those last settlers. Most of my forces are still in galleons on their way over to this continent.

All 3 of us are at war with each other.
Celts have 1 settler.
Zulu have 1 city, but 2 settlers that I can see.
Zulu are also on the coast, but hopefully I can block their water routes.

Celts don't officially have a city, but yet they have at least 70 units!

IBT-Kill 1 Zulu galleon

2040-I see 3 Zulu riflemen/settler pairs. I can reach two, but not the 3rd.
See 3 Celt settlers! Where are all these coming from?!?

Kill 2 Zulu riflemen
2 settlers
lose 1 rifleman (attacked one of them with an army).

Kill 1 Celt riflemen
1 settler

IBT-Kill 1 Zulu galleon
1 Celt longbowman
lose 1 rifleman

These next turns were so hilarious....

2041-Pure AI stupidity!
Celts have about 70 or so units running around, yet insists on escorting settlers with only 1 REGULAR rifleman. All their other units are in a SOD chasing after either my units, or chasing the Zulu.

Kill 2 Celt riflemen
2 settlers

Stop bothering to deal with reinforcements from home continents. They will never be a factor, if they can even reach where all the excitement is.

2042-2043-Move troops towards Zulu and Celt Capitals, and chase after a Zulu settler, getting my forces ready for final assualt. Since they are at war with each other, they ignore my units completely (almost all my units were protected by armies), and fight each other, killing each other's units and emptying their cities.

IBT-See the Celts kill a Zulu Great Leader.

2044-Auto-raze Ngome right after it was built.
Kill 1 riflemen

Auto-raze Mpondo, 6 workers (3 settlers?)
Kill 3 riflemen
1 longbowmen
Generate 1 leader

Zulu have been eliminated.

Auto-raze Camulodunum
Kill 2 riflemen

Celts have been eliminated.

May I be the first one to congratulate you :goodjob:

Now go set a game that's at least abit of a challenge :D ;)

Again :goodjob::goodjob::goodjob:

200 hours is definately insane. :) Congrats!

Score: (deity scoring, because I modded 'deity' level to the 'beyond sid'). Could have scored more, but didnt' want to deal with worrying about domination limit and managing all those extra cities.

Bamspeedy, you truly are the greatest. You have inspired me to revitalize my civing life. I don't care what anyone says, YOU-ARE-*THE*-GREATEST

YAY!

So, Bam. After competing in Beyond Sid, do ya feel like playin' a game like that again any time soon???;)

I have read this with awe and considerable fear. What a barnstorming performance.

Bamspeedy, what would you say was the key to your victory? Keeping the AI isolated? Their habit of building vast numbers of units and allowing them to become obsolete? Or your tactic of combining vast numbers of defensive units with equally vast artillery power? That's not a strategy I have ever thought of before, but it seems almost godlike in its power if your game is anything to go by.
