it makes no sense to upload it to rapidshare megaupload etc.
because those sites reap uploads after a certain time too (inactivity or else).
a website would be a good host for savegames for example
but free website hosters
reap websites like the filehosters files and so on.
the best would be if civfanatics forum
would keep those few small civDOS savegames we post at server
and
would recognize civDOS files as UPLOADS = *.map, *.sve
but nobody can upload *.map, *.sve files
at this (civ) forum as *.map, *.sve -
as that 'WHAT iT iS" = civDOS saves.
Oh well, THAT wasn't the reason back in 2006 - "save HD space"
I guess it was just an instinctless button-push by some admin / moderator / technical assistant in the conversion process from an older to a newer forum software.
As usual in such cases, nobody writes about his failures as long as not some 100s of members point the finger on the problem and so the files i did CREATE and UPLOAD and all that §$%&* did (ta-ta-ta-ta) 'disappear' ... that's LIFE (yes, it's that stupid, even 'civilized').
So it's always better to keep back-ups and copies a lifetime yourself (, host your own blog and wiki as long as possible and so on).
...it gives visibility/access
to maps and scenarios and competitions and "Games of the month/season/year"
members of the civ-fanatic-forum did create... ...ages ago... ...
