Amra & CIV Gold New Civ Library
for Civ4 Warlords v2.08

AFRICA/AMERICAS - ASIA - EUROPE - OCEANIA/FANTASY - OTHER

26 - Civs available for checkout as of May 03, 2007

This project is currently on hold. Please see THIS POST for more info. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The purpose of this library is two-fold:

1.) To provide updated versions of numerous civs that have been posted at Civfanatics and not updated other than in my modpack or CIV Gold.

2.) To make it easier for a player to download just the one civ they want and not have to download all of Amra's Modpack or CIV Gold to get it.

All new civs posted here will have animated leaderheads, first contact dialogue, a Unique Unit, Unique Building & full pedia entries. Anything additional such as new diplomacy music or unit action sounds will be indicated below the download. This is an ongoing project involving Amra's Modpack & CIV Gold. New downloads will be posted periodically.

For now, I have begun uploading and listing civs from Amra's Modpack. Once CIV Gold 4.0 has been released, I will begin dissecting and posting individual civs from it including the civs that I have not posted from my modpack yet, and for which CIV Gold has additional leaders.

In order to fit as many civs in each section as possible, all credits (if known) are listed in the readme included with the download as well as on the download page. Please note that I am NOT trying to claim sole credit for the civs listed here. A lot of people are responsible for the work in these civs and a BIG THANK YOU goes out to anyone whose work is included. Most especially to Wyz_sub10 whose help to me & work on CIV Gold has been invaluable. Thanks, Wyz!

For easier copying & pasting into any modpack you may be creating, I've noted changes made by me to the xml files in the "XML Changes.txt" file included with each download.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Extract any of these downloads to your Warlords "Mods" folder within the game directory. For example, C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Warlords\MODS. It should create a new folder within the Warlords\MODS directory that will include all of the modified files (for example: "ACG Assyria"). In game, click on "Advanced" and then "Load a Mod" to play.

All downloads are in 7-zip format. If needed, 7-zip can be found HERE.

Oh, what the heck - one more reserved.

Wow, quite a release.
What can I say, I've been busy. There will be quite a few more to come, especially after CIV Gold 4.0 is released. :D Speaking of which, I've really got to get back to helping Wyz with some leaderheads... :mischief:

Note that I have started a list of Warlords civs by other forum members. It can be found in the OTHER section. Post#6

Great work, Amra! Thank you! :goodjob:

I intend to use some of these civs in my own purposes. ;)

Amra are you familiar with my Modular Loading DLL? It provides in principle what your looking for the ability to cherry pick the civs you want to play. It requires pulling apart the xml files into littler files, converting content take a while but isn't much harder then the cut and paste integration process everyone has to uses now. I would be doing this with Civilizations myself if my DLL programing projects weren't taking up all my time. Wyz is and have been pushing the idea to Wyz who's been receptive but is currently working on CivGold as you know.

I'm currently trying to get Purplexus who's a big fan of the module system to work on a Library of modules of all types but particularly whole Civilizations like you have here. Perhaps you would like to make use this system and use the CCCP code repository on SourceForge. Its a SVN repository and I can give you developer access to store and alter files their. You will need to learn SVN version control and get a SourceForge account. I recommend Tortoise SVN as the best easiest client to use. Even if you don't want to use SourceForge using Version control Software makes building a mod or any other project made out of lots of files easier.

I 've seen a little bit of the modular system in action with the CCCP and am interested in finding out more about doing individual civs for it but am wary about biting off more than I can chew (as if I haven't already with this project :crazyeye:). I'd be curious to try one to see what all is involved and how much work it would be before I commit to more.

Is there a new civ template anywhere for the modular loading system? I have a template that I made for all these civs to where it only takes about 30-40 minutes to rip a civ from my modpack & make it an individual mod.

I will follow the link in your signature to see if you have more info there.

Amra,

I've already got as bunch of Gold civs "kinda done" for this (thanks to some incredibly hard work from purplexus and Impaler).

We should chat about it a bit offline. I can send you a sample civ so that you can see the layout.

Good idea, Wyz. Thanks.

Are you going to include a polynesian civ anytime soon?

Yes, I'll be posting one with Salamasina & Kamehameha probably next week.

The Oceania section is a little thin right now but will eventually include Australia, the Maori and a few other civs from CIV Gold 4.0 after it is released.

Hey Amra. Im currently working on an Australian Civ for Warlords. I hope to have it out within the next few weeks. (By the time ANZAC day rolls around here) Currently it is going to b heavily based upon the CivGold Australian civ but with my own changes (Namely a new LH for Menzies) and maybe another leader and a new UU.;)

Cheers

no probs. It still a little while off Need to get these units Wyz done first so he can FINALLY release CivGold4. Hopefully I will have the vast majority of them done by then end of the week, then I can get back to some serious work on my civs (I've currently got 2 in the works and about 3 more planned)

Cheers
Aranor

Edit: That reminds me. If my memory serves me correctly Wyz told me that you were the one who skinned the Menzies LH for Gold in the first place correct? If so is there any chance you could do a LH mesh for me?
